  1. thanks for the info AmStaFF ! good to know that, so they operate same like other big watch companies, taking a standard ETA and modding it into their "own" caliber. did you own this watch ?
  2. well, i have always been a "chronograph" and "complications" type of guy when it comes to watches, a watch with only a date\day window was never enough for me, i always craved for the chrono hands, and pushers. well- i am not sure why, but the Oris TT1 Diver Meistertaucher made me change my mind about that aspect of watch collecting! does anyone on this board own or had owned one? i would love to hear opinons about the watch, as i plan on selling a big amount (and the good amount) of my reps collection and gen parts to fund one of these (would love to keep my better reps, but dont have extra money so i would have to exchange reps for money so i can fund this action) had seen the rep of this model- but i dont feel like paying $300-350 for the rep while the gen is about $1200, and ive heard the rep is so-so anyway. what kind of movement these oris diver watches carry? are these standard modded ETA ? and what do they mean by saying its a "regulator movement" ? any input would be appreciated. best regards, db1
  3. thanks you so much francisco for your great work! you had saved many members on the forum some money =] such an informative, pleasant to read and look tear-down of a movement ! i can't believe this bull.. i know the movement factories main idea is more "how to save more money so i can make more money on the movement" but i mean- how much more money would it cost them for adding a few extra REAL jewels to the movements in the secs @ 6 movement? a few dimes more per movement? for a far-better and much more reliable movement. they should understand, that if they make a bad movement for a great looking watch, that would make many rep collectors to avoid these watches- which mean this is the main way of how they will lose profits, and not the adding of a few extra jewels where needed on the movement. on the other hand- if they would pay attention to the thousends of rep collectors, and will really work to improve the movement, with the REAL added jewels at the right places (and it doesnt matter- even if the movement will turn into a 39 jewels as long as the secs@6 module will be reliable) in that case all the people who avoided purchasing specific models of rep- will buy them! and it's not like the only watch using this movement is the daytona- there are some others too! and if they are so concerned about their profits- i wouldn't mind paying an extra $10-20 on the rep price, for a REAL improved, correctly jeweled movement, which would cover their costs of the extra jewels added and the extra metal work required hopefully the movement, and rep factories will understand that REALLY improving the movement, and not only by words- will make them more money, than saving on a couple of jewels and metal work. db1
  4. thanks for the tip, yeah im aware of scam sites (i had mentioned before the link its a link to a scam site ) just wanted to know if the photo is a gen or there's such an accurate rep of this one =] yeah the gen is probably the best, and on the bay some of them are priced pretty low in compare to the automatic breitlings, i was thinking of a rep project since my uncle has a gen dial lying around, so i thought i would aquire the 'standard' eta digi-analog with only the lower digital windows being smaller then the modded breitling mvmt, then fit the dail on it and put it into a rep case. but as much as i understood from you guys, i better not waste my time on a non possible project =] even though it probably could be cheaper then the el-primero 'tona i wanted to build till not to while ago (lack of $$) so did you have the gen aerospace? thats cool, how was the watch? how did you enjoy it ? how its like to try on the crown to change features? hope you all have a great weekend! db1
  5. hey thanks for the input! what about the rep photo from this scam site ? http://www.aaa-replica-watch.com/Breitling...62_B5_BKLT.html is that a rep? or a gen photo. i've seen about 2-3 rep sites (some probably scam, the other probably over prices) offering aerospace reps and showing similar photos. thanks db1
  6. hi, does anyone knows where can i get the ETA movement used on the breitling aerospace ? i know breitling orders these movement special with the lower digital screen being larger, while on standard , both upper and lower digital screens are identical. where can i get the "standard" movement? (ETA 988.352 ?) second question: is there a rep of this watch at all? (for case porpuses) thanks db1
  7. i was browsing on the bay for rlx parts, and found this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Rolex-mens-14K...93%3A1|294%3A50 this watch looks like pre 50's.. but has the recent rlx movement (from pics) is that right? it looks like someone took a watch case, put a rlx caliber into it with some rlx dial- and trying to sell it as non-franken ? or maybe im wrong.. please have a look.
  8. i was always wondering , if, and why .. is it harder to source gen breitlng parts, while dozens of gen rlx parts are available on the bay almost on a regular basis. does anyone knows the answer? =] db1
  9. i own the same watch model- Bentley GT rep with the a7750 movement (chronograph movement), and it is great IMO i love it! so far my all time fav the Bentley GT is IMO one of the most beautiful breitling models to date =] your rep has a few obvious tells, but it doesnt mean you shouldnt wear it, each one of us started from somewhere. my first ever rep was as well - a 21j faux chrono-matic breitling, which i no longer wear- but keep the watch cause im very connected to it (its like me losing my virginity in the rep-world ) dig your way on the forum, you will find tons of information. link to a (pretty bad) photo of my GT: http://img401.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf0609uj8.jpg cheers db1
  10. oh yeah this guy is back again! and that's not a $30 auction went wrong- someone is gonna pay a few g's for these half-gen half-rep parts! i think !bay should had suspended that guy already.
  11. oh what a nice watch wear it well my friend!!
  12. one thing i can not understnad- why not jewel each and every hole in that secs@6 module ? wouldnt that make the modded movement much much better and perhaps much more reliable ? is that such a hard work, and long research.. to put a few more jewels in the correct places to make these gears work flawlessly ? or its just that the factories too lazy to do it (or have hounderds of 'old' movement they would like to get rid of first) a second of thought. db1
  13. 1st: freddy is right - it seems like where he wants focus he put good lighting, and where he want it to be blury and dark (movement photos) suddenly it looks like there's so much dark and out of focused shots. looks like there are a few parts in the photo he's trying to "hide" from the naked eye, hmmm why? i doubt this lot authenticy 2nd: IMO the seller knows what he's doing, and trying to pass it as gen parts in a "legal shady" way, poor "happy" winner is gonna be there if we're all right.
  14. great people makes a great forum 10x!
  15. im looking to buy a rlx tube tool, same as julesborel is selling (the all steel one). tried to order one via their web site, but it seem he is not willing to take an order of less then $50 for an international order (give me a break.. its not like he's paying for the extra shipping right? walking to post a package is the same for overseas except for a tiny piece of paper extra to fill-in- i know it cause im US my self, but overseas now cause of a job) i had got an email telling me to find "maybe more things that i need" to raise up the order to min $50 for them to ship it to me. i tried, and have not found anything else i need other then the rlx tube tool for my gen daytona tube (same as sub tube) so i can not order from them. i also dont want to get the ebay one, cause i've heard it aint worth the money. if anyone here has the all-steel rlx tube tool like borel is selling, and dont need it anymore- i'll buy. please PM me. any other help apprecaited. thanksss happy new year!! db1
  16. maybe no papers for the "actual" model customized- but at least the "basic" core papers, after all.. a freagin' 25g's piece need to come with at least the "original" model papers. i asume its a franken (the seller keep mentioning the word "aftermarket" about almost anything, including the case, dial, bezel, etc etc.. and movement "automatic", looks shady to me ..) maybe im wrong, but i dont believe this piece is worth that money, even for a franken, even if it has a gen daytona @ 9 movement, IMO aftermarket case, bezel, dial etc and gen movement making this piece no more then a franken worth no more then maybe maybe about $10,000 give or take(the price of a standard "proper" all-original daytona zenith) maybe im wrong, maybe not.. thats what i see from the actual auction and shady "story line" and description. db1 =]
  17. http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-LEOPARD-DAYTONA-...93%3A1|294%3A50 first of all the overusing of the "aftermarket" word in the description, pretty cheap story about a "customer" who could afford a gen daytona but didnt want to pay 50,000 so he made some "hack job".. lol the dial doesnt look right, and also the "no papers" part. i dont really believe such an expensive piece can be sold without papers? fake or gen? you be the judge..

    Everrose

OMG, thats a nice watch !!! wear it well my friend :-) that dial is really special, im used to see mostly these with the "standard" dials, and this one is beautiful! nice info about that "everrose" metal. i have never knew that before. thanks for sharing!
  19. yeah, i didnt mean it can be used for "drilling" the SS, but more like to resize existing holes that needs maybe a half mm or so, or for countersinking tube holes. do you think for these purposes it won't work as well ?
  20. i was thinking about this tool, it can be useful, the archimedes twist mini drill type tool. it is non powered, which means it works by pushing the handle against a surface to spin the drill bit and drill the surface, this way making it possible to work very gently for precise hole resizing, hole countersinking jobs. other than having a high rpm powered mini drill that turns very high speed, and before you know it- you have drilled too deep or countersinked too much. did anyone tried this type of tool for watch making jobs ? here's a link one of these (only this one's chuck i think is too small for lugholes, or tube hole jobs etc..) http://cgi.ebay.com/QTY-2-NEW-Twist-Archim...93%3A1|294%3A50
  21. v. useful IMO thanks for sharing the link! i needed that crown macro shot =]
  22. i like the way they describe their (probably) cheap DG auto movements.. "Premium Automatic Japanese Made Jewel Perpetual Movement (Authentic sweeping second hand) - No batteries" lol...ROFL
  23. i have never posted a photo of my rep(s) on rwg before, i never had the time for taking photos, and also my digicam is zero quality. but today i decided to take a few shots of my fav reps. here's one of them a photo (excuse my very bad cam and photo taking ability) of my all-time fav breitling rep. a bentley GT racing. (in the background you can also see my fantasy white dial luminor PR rep - which i also like alot even though there's no gen with a white dial)
