  1. I got my insert from eBay, there's loads on there no real secret just search 16610 insert or inlay and ensure its a genuine part. My crystal was from a Rolex watch forum, again used, but looks great
  2. Cheers Ryan, The insert is quite easy compared to that retaining ring! If you start at the pearl end and work your way down so the last part to push in is to 30 marker it won't break. If that pressure was applied near the pearl I could see how that part of the insert may have snapped. How does my date mag and crystal height look?
  3. I used a method very similar to yours Steve! I don't have a vice but used a g clamp Like cib0rgman, with a nylon die behind the watch, then used a section of plumbing adapter, filed wider to sit over the retaining ring then gently tightened the clamp, winding back and rotating as necessary. Thanks for your help. Only problem was after the first time I did it a white spec appeared on the dial out of nowhere and I had to remove it and do it all again! Joy.
  4. I think the ceramic no date sub is appealing. Would expect to see decent reps in a year or 2.
  5. Finally complete and big thanks to ZK TC 16610
  6. Ok, blood sweat and very nearly tears trying to put this together but finally I installed the gen insert and gen crystal. I used the TC gasket in the end and the date mag and height look ok at first examination.
  7. I really like that he offers a case without rehaut engravings or bezel insert. This watch is built to accept gen insert so for a really accurate Franken sub this is the way to go. I've spent some time in a hardware shop today and should be installing the retaining ring tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly! Hopefully my only worry will be whether to go for a gen dial at some point.
  8. Thanks, did you have any issue getting the retaining ring back on over the gen crystal and gasket?
  9. Does the insert make a difference to crystal height? Rep or gen?
  10. It looks good. I'm hoping my gen with 2.7 cousins gasket looks ok. How does the Clark crystal compare with gen in terms of overall appearance ?
  11. Got one but the nylon bits aren't wide enough to go over the crystal and push just the retaining ring down over the crystal.
  12. Thanks guys I've checked both your methods out and essentially they are very similar. I'll head to b&q (uk version of home depot) and see what's available for me. Fingers crossed. Thanks to both of you for takInh the time to post the pics. Much appreciated.
  13. Yeah that's the one, I've put gen crystal in and now I can't get the ring back over it.
  14. Yep the gen insert was really hard to get in but I used a nylon die from my press to force the last bit in and now it sits tightly in. My only problem is the retaining ring, it seems a shame to send it off to Domi for weeks just to get the retaining ring back over the crystal and gasket! Still waiting for pics of home made efforts.....
  15. Type in r30157 in the search box. It's the Rolex 295x2.70 Generic Glass Gasket.
  16. Ok so i tried myself, crystal is in, insert is in but that retaining ring will simply not go back on. I bust 1 gasket already any tips?
  17. Yep just can't push it down, I'm scared I'll crack the crystal or rip the gasket.
  18. Here's a couple of shots with the gen crystal on 2.7mm gasket. Shame I can't get the bloody retaining ring back on to be able to wear it! Any ideas guys? Gen insert too btw. Maybe I'll have to send it away to a modder for the final push!
  19. Hi, I just wondered if anyone new of a relaible UK based modder who can install a gen crystal and shave the rehaut on my newly aquired TC sub. Im tempted to do it myself but im not quite confident enough yet, I dont want to find myself in a 3 month Domi waiting list either for what is probably a simple set of mods.
  20. I've got a gen crystal with the original 2.7 gasket still attached. Going to try installing it tomorrow to see how it looks.
  21. Well In the end I plumped for the TC Thanks to a fantastic forum member this bad boy landed 2 days later. Before I've even got a reply from TC himself! I won't be wearing it in its full glory until I install gen crystal and bezel insert but that won't be long. The first thing to strike me about the TC sub is the sheen on the bracelet and gen feel of the bracelet (hollow). The engraved rehaut isn't too bad either it's really quite subtle on the wrist. Very nice.
  22. Hi there and welcome. The UPO tag refers to the 45mm version of the PLanet ocean. Yours is 42mm so I'll refer to it as a 5th gen 42mm PO. Here's mine with the complete mods you have mentioned Gen dial, hands, date wheel, crown, is it has hen he valve and gen rubber strap. Al parts from cousins uk and their postage is excellent.
