What's an inlay? Pardon my stupidity!

Ok. This is sort if what I want my watch to look like; And ; So I'm thinking Joshua $118 5513 Yuki matte dial; Gen crown and tube, low beat movement and Clarke crystal. Anyone know where I can source the gen crown, movement and crystal though?? Any thoughts or advice much appreciated.

Did you buy from vintagestrap? If so I almost bought it. He told me it's a gen bracelet with aftermarket endlinks. Check the numbers on the clasp, should be 1580/952. That would indicate a gen clasp at least

42mm. It really is a beauty and so close to gen now, I expect I'll be happy to have it sitting in my watch box As an alternative someday.

Why is it that when I've finished a watch I've wanted and coveted for months, I always consider selling them for something else in a matter of months? Well my question is, are frankens worth flipping, considering the cost and effort put into them? Or should I just keep it and save an extra few months for my next piece. My 4th gen franken is something of a Grail watch but I'm getting the itch for a gen rolex again having had 2 and sold 2 in the last 3 years. Or am I mad? Here she is. Help me choose.

How could they? Is this a one off, it's amazing what a difference a couple of words can make to the whole look of a watch. It's similar to the upos with the wrong size lettering....but so much more obvious. Serious though, why do the factories do this?

I agree the 5th gen he valve is ridiculously tall. So that's a good mod. My 4th gen has everything but the he valve. Was it an easy mod? The valve on my 4th gen screws right off which although is on tight it does worry me a little.

Defo needs a dial, the lettering spacing is wrong on that upo isn't it. Xding it's www.ofrei.com.

I did some myself, but in the end i sent it to Domenico for the finishing touches; crystal, datewheel and waterproofing. It now has, gen dial, hands, datewheel, bezel, crystal, crown and tube and bracelet. Just so you know ofrei used to sell a gen 007 second hand for the 45mm po. What you need is a 45mm UPO and perhaps do dial, hands, datweheel, rubber strap and second hand and you will have a pretty sweet franken. Ive had 2 upo frankens and they turned out pretty good.

Case back on casino royal watch and second hand are the only differences to the standard 45mm PO. Good luck.

Hey Db2 have you considered doing the he valve? I can't help feeling that's the only tell now, but I'm not sure if I'm losing perspective and becoming a little obsessed!! One more on the wrist today.

Well I can consider this complete now. Crystal for me was the best mod. It's just a shame the AR coating isn't a little more robust. Gen bracelet finishes off my franken.

I have the Victorinox Swiss Army ST4000 on it's way. It's got altimeter and barometer, no compass but has the analogue and digital display and was worn by Will Smith in I am Legend. Very cool.

My birthday today. Still wearing my fully franken PO. Hoping to get hold of a gen bracelet for my b'day!!!

For that price it's worth a punt. My only reservation is from a few years back I bought a smp aftermarket bracelet and it was good but twice as thick as a gen!!
