  1. @Indec

Word is that the rep factories now switched to a new better crystal in the AP ROO range (most probably the sec@12 version) even from the picture it looks so much better then the old one.

Maybe not gen standard quality crystal but damn good enough, and do a single sided AR if you find it to dim but dont wan´t no-glass double AR.

fine dd (RWI forum AR guy) posted a picture for comparison but I can´t find it right now but looking :)

I suggest the black theme since it´s a classic, yes the caseback is a little on the thick side, the crown is a tiny bit off and the dial numbers are missing the thin rim around the lume but my god it´s a STUNNER!

No one except a AD or someone who´s VERY anal when it comes to details and own the gen and compare them side by side would spot the flaws.

When you get it in hand all your fears will go away, trust me :)

Get it on metal bracelet and order a rubberstrap as a side order, that way you get conversion pieces for any new strap you getting in the future and a deployant clasp.

A word of warning though, if you find your new shiny AP ROO to your liking you WILL get more then one...

*edit RBII needs a faceplate mod for around 800$ to look like the gen and personally I find that hard to justify, if you got money for that on top of the original purchase I´d say go with a full Sanders version ;)

IMO it´s way to over engineered and will for sure make people believe it´s a fake unless you got 60k$ to spend on a watch...

Thank for the heads up... What about the Grey Themes I really like that.

  2. Same flaws as the rest or have I missed something? :)

There are two more issues IMHO when comparing a new REP with a new gen.

The overall finish usually feels better on the GEN aswell as almost all crystals have a slightly better shine to it. (regardless of AR) :)

But if the main purpose of the REP is a good looker on the wrist then the rubberclad, black themes , survivor aswell as the rose gold rubberclad is absolutely spot on..

    (IMO of course.)

    Merry X-mas!

Ok i went and tried on a RBII what is the deal with those. I read in 2009 there was a faceplate issue. Is that still the problem. Again I do not care about the caseback as I do not plan on handing it around. Thanks so much again guys.

  3. Why would you have legal trouble? What did the reciept say? What country are you in?

I suggest in the first instance you go to the house and politely request the watches return.... You may find there are other reasons he hasnt returned your calls...

Try getting a friend to call asking to see him to take some watches to him... arrange a time and you will know when he will be there...

If he hasnt said rep on the receipt then you have him legally no matter where you are... If you tell the police they were gen as far as your concened the only why he can argue that they are not is if he produces the watches...remember you have the reciepts.....I think the police would be more interested in that (as I am sure they would take a strong interest in him after that) than you

I am in the USA. I live in Connecticut.

He wrote FAKE ROLEX on the rolex receipt. He didnt know the PAM was fake so just wrote Luminor on it.

  4. I would visit him in person &, if he is out, leave a stern, but polite, note in his mailbox with your telephone, cell & email contact info requesting that he contact you within 48 hours or you will need to seek assistance from law enforcement. (Make a copy of the note in case you need to take the additional steps below.) Yes, rep watches are technically contraband & frowned-upon legally, but I believe outright theft trumps contraband. Additionally, if you paid him any money (deposit, downpayment, etc) with a major credit card, contact your bank & ask them for assistance. If the guy is in business, he does not want to jeopardize/lose his vendor status with the credit card company.

If, after 72 hours (yes, give him 1 additional day to respond in case he is sick or out of town since it is that time of year), you do not receive a response, I would either send him a copy of the note you left previously in his mailbox via registered mail (so he has to sign for it, which will make it clear that you mean business) & wait an additional 24 hours for a response or take all the paperwork you received to your local police & let them do their thing.

The only thing I am concerned about is I do not want any legal hassle. That is what I am afraid of the most.

  5. In my search for a local watchsmith I found one that would work out of his house. He had a lot of watches there and seemed ok. Gave me a receipt for two watched with estimated value and insurance and we both signed. My question is do I actually have recourse or am I out of luck because they are reps and probably illegal to own. thanks.

  6. Is there a accurate Sandwich dial with date PAM? I would prefer titanium but beggars cant be chosers ;-)

I do not really care about the case back because it will remain on my wrist but would be nice if everything else was as close to gen as possible.

    Thanks so much guys.

I have seen some 300 series but cannot seem to find a straight answer as to flaws and accuracy.... Also do not know if any other lines offer the date with sandwich dial. Thank you so much and happy holidays.

  7. Any watchmaker who works on chronographs can handle this during a standard overhaul. Look in your phone book under 'watch repair' or 'watch & clock repair' & phone the shop to see if they will work on a rep containing a ETA 7750 (I doubt the watchmaker will identify the movement as Asian-made & if he does, just plead ignorance & thank him for letting you know). Tell him you need yours overhauled & would like to have powdered graphite applied to a few locations on the top plate during reassembly. If he agrees, pick up some powdered graphite at a local hardware, auto parts or home store, print out my initial post (including the pics) & give it to the watchmaker when you deliver your watch (make sure to redact the RWG names & links).

I have called all watch repair places in a 70 Mile radius in Connecticut and Massachusetts and no one is willing to do the mod. Do any of the members here work on watches from the CONUSA. I would love to get a couple of daytonas done and order a new IWC port to get done as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much I really appreciate that advice. If I had common sense I would have thought of that lol. I was also wondering if you could tell me what movement to ask for if my pam 111H is not working as well to see if they will work on that movement as well.
