  1. How much water exactly? A bit of condensation may be cleared by removing the back and leaving it the sun for a while.

Mind you, a trip to the AD would be the safest option for a relitivy expensive watch. Was it sold as water resistant? If so the onus may be on them to fix her up at their expence anyway. They prob won't, but you never know.

    Col.

I have been in communication with Gunter Steinhart via email. His response was that the watch is a pilots watch and does not belong in the water it belongs in the air. The watch is rated at 5 atm so taking a shower with it should not have hurt it in any way. He agreed to fix it "this time" but said I should not wear it in the shower. I ask him for return shipping instructions and he still hasn't sent them to me after two working days. I hate to ship the watch all of the way back to Germany not knowing how long it will be gone.

I think I will take Trail boss' advise and remove the case back and air dry it in the window.

    Thanks to all...

  2. Hello everyone,

Long time since my last post. Retired from the military, started a new business, and got married! Been a busy year. Anyway, I hope that the corporate knowledge here will be some help. I have a Steinhart Nav. B Chrono II which has some how gotten water in the case. I have never used this watch for swimming or diving but, yes it has seen some shower time and a few days in the rain.

I would like to know if it is possible to get the water out without sending it back to the factory. This is NOT a rep watch by the way. But I bought it based on recommendation here on this site. I have been very please with this watch up to this point and it was not cheap by Gen or Rep standards.

    Any advise would be appreciated.

    Thanks...

  3. It has been some time since my last post here. I think because of the very thing that JoJo has brought up in this topic. He is correct in saying that a rep is just a rep, no mater how much it is modified and no mater how many gen parts it contains. For me it started when I purchased my first gen sub and then I found Steinhart. My Steinhart gets most of the wrist time now and the gen Rolex along with 7 or 8 rep watches spend the majority of time in the watch box.

It is a sad thing. I remember how excited I was to find this website. I do however still appreciate the wealth of information that can be found here concerning watches. I seem to have found another addiction recently; Purchasing precious metals! God help me...

  4. If you are working in an environment with "watch experts" there is a real chance that one of them is going to want to take a closer look. It is human nature for an expert to want to look closely at another specimen. You should save your money and buy the gen, or just come clean and tell them your watch is a fake. If they are true experts, they might just appreciate your copy all the more. Especially if it is a good one.

Do not attempt to pass off any rep as a gen. It is just bad form.

  5. I purchased the Steinhart NavB Chrono II about a month ago and I love it! Super high quality watch. Gunter, the president of the company provided me with excellent customer service. He sent me an extra leather strap to go with the stainless steel one. You really can not go wrong with Steinhart.

  6. Never. The whole point is that it has basically been perfect for two hundred years and the bar it set at improving craftmanship and design as opposed to making something which is technically superior. The machine that is the mechanical timepiece is the marvel and to me, and as such nothing that is digital - watch or otherwise could ever peak my interest.

I agree with Robbie! There is something about the marvel of the micro mechanics setting on my wrist that could never be matched by anything digital. Digital has its place, but never something so personal as a watch.

  7. I believe that a member here on RWG has, or at least had one for sale for around $900.00 USD. His RWG ID is: "Justasgood". Check the sale section here and see if it is still there, or just send him a PM.

I just looked in the sales section here and the Omega I was talking about sold 5 days ago. I was considering it for myself but this time of year money is a little thin.

  8. Seems to me that $7200 is about full retail. It doesn't sound to me like they are doing you any favors. That price is NOT what I would call a great deal for that watch when you can find them on TZ and the like for around 6K all of the time these days. TZ is also a good reference for what you might expect to get for your watch if you were to decide to sell it. There is a search engine called "elite deal seeker". They pull sales listings from numerous watch forums. I suggest you look there first as part of your research.

    Cheers.

  9. Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. I want to trim the crown guards or have someone do it. I really want BK to do it but I thought of taking it to a friend who is a local watchsmith/jeweler because it would be quicker and I would not have to mail it. I guess best thing would be to have it all done at once.

Do the genuine crowns really look that much better?

No one will ever know or notice the difference but you. Crown position is more critical than the crown its self. I have both the Euromariner and the Gen Sub LV and I can't tell the crowns appart. If you want to spend the extra money that is your business but IMHO it is not really worth it. I even purchased an extra gen crown and never bothered installing it. Go for the more obviouse features which need attention like the bezel insert, pearl and crystal.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Cheers...

  10. Pre-owned is the only way to go. Just like a car, a new watch will lose value the minute you take it out of the AD. Make sure that the original box, tags and papers come with the watch. A watch without documentation may be purchased for less money but without authentication resale is difficult. I believe the $2500 price point is not bad for a non date sub but I wouldn't pay much more than that. If you look on Timezone you should be able to find one in that price range. Or you could always check ebay but you will pay a little more.

Oh, and by the way. Buy something post 2000 if you want the lume to glow. Pre 2000 Rolex used tritium on the dial and hands which fails to glow after a few years. Post 2000 Rolex watches used Luminova which will not fade over time.

    Cheers...

  11. BTW, it looks like the same stuff available all over the internet. If you are for real and not just slinging spam, you should check out the dealers on this site via the links tab at the top of the page. You will find higher quality product with real reviews and real comments to back them up.
