  1. From a professional perspective, I see programs like these ("dodgy supplements plus high impact workouts") as having a high % of snake oil about them.

A reputable personal trainer is the best way to achieve results IMO.

  2. Avoid like the plague. The MBW 1655 was, like its 1675 sibling, a dog. Looked awful, and gen parts didn't fit.

Best bet is to use one of the cartel's as a base (preferably you'll need two versions to create a hybrid), then look at Omega Flightmaster hands (you'll need to broach at least one), and then you can start the cosmetic tweaks here and there.

Last two or three members I recall having done similar are TMG (toomuchgear), Freddy (333) and most recently Lani(kai).

Basically, a decent 1655 project is not for the faint of heart or wallet. Best you know that at the outset.

Plenty of reading material on here, the search function is your friend ;)

  3. Picking up a 192 today, has anyone else tried the "OxiBath" while taking apart the crystal and bezel, so the marking don't disappear?

    Thx

Not sure you quite understand the process. It's fairly simple...

    1. You uncase the movement and pop out the crystal to avoid damage whilst treating the case.

    2. Once you've removed movt and crystal, just remember to pop out the inner tachy bezel - these are the only 'markings' you need to protect.

  4. had been considering a new digital camera for a while now, but that debate is now over after i lost my digital camera this weekend. long story

the three cameras i'm currently considering are the canon g10, the panasonic lx3 and the leica d-lux 4. both the panasonic and the leica (the two i'm currently leaning towards) seem to be sold out everywhere, whereas the canon is generally available.

any ideas on where to find one of these in stock (at a decent price)? also, would be interested to hear thoughts between the three. obviously the leica is a bit more expensive than the lx3 (which from what i've gathered is essentially the same camera), although from what i've heard panasonic's service department in the event you need them is slow as molasses, and their warranty is one year vs leica's three year. i'm certainly not a leica fanboy but given the price difference really isn't too wide (combined with the difference in warranty), i am considering splurging for the leica...

i was originally considering the g10 pretty strongly (after hearing quite a few good reviews), but i think i like the size and for factor of the lx3/d-lux 4 better...

anyways, thanks in advance for your help :victory:

The Leica D-LUX 4 sold out everywhere? Really? Even the limited edition (gorgeous but obscenely expensive) titanium version? Plenty of them in stock over here.

Why not see about picking up the previous model - the D-LUX 3 - on the cheap? I have one and it's a fantastic camera, definitely a pro-consumer choice. The D-LUX 4 is a lot more money for very little extra - mainly a hotshoe for adding a comically expensive optical VF, ad other trinkets. Yes, you are paying for the red dot over its Panasonic twin, but there is still a little processing magic that the Leica keeps in its favour.

In fact I got mine (silver) not that far from your neck of the woods albeit a good while back, Camera West in Monterey ;)

  5. Putting aside my vintage purist hat for a minute, I'd say for what you want it for, and the price, it doesn't look half bad at all. Not in comparison to some stuff out there.

The dial is a dog of course, but the case looks half decent, and the CGs and crown look good.

Litmus test though comes when you want to mod it. Will a T116 fit? Will gen bezel fit? Will gen/redial even fit? In all likelihood, not.

  6. Anyways, seems like i've offended many RWGers and if so i'm sorry.

I'm always open for opinions. 8)

Nobody's offended, but it seems you're not getting the oh so subtle hint. It really isn't worth your time or trouble, and will only end one way.

As for opinions, I personally wouldn't touch your middleman wares with a ten-foot bargepole, and I suspect I'm not alone in that.

No offence, I'm sure you have good intentions but I don't know you, therefore nor do I trust you or the naiive manner in which you've come across with this ill thought-out scheme.
