Still not buying.. The numbers are too thin and the crown guard can be better..Oh..OCD!!! Although, the 212 looks a whole lot better IMO..

yes I just asked for the swan neck movement and ask for superlume, the destro I have pictured above was $111 and the fiddy style was $120. I also have one coming without second hand. Here's a pic of the type I'm talking about.

PureTime version is now available for sale. Three dial options. Lume color is more ivory/cream vs. Josh version. Submariner textt ever so slightly smaller (better). Same price $198.

Guys, I think these are essentially the same watches. Pictures can vary depending on how you shoot them. I think that Angus has better picture taking skills, but they are the same watches IMO. Can't wait for an MBW vs Cartel comparison review.

yeah, i mistakenly posted twice. there's an L version of this dial in the updated 111E album.

What about the CG. What I have read and seen is that it is not a Pre-V CG so I wouldn't have to purchase one from LH or Toro..correct?

Well, I have had a cartel 005 for a while now and since I cannot find a decent 005 dial I wanted to know my options. I also want to know which would be more cost effective. I am not buying gen parts as these would be too expensive for me. I want a good rep not a franken. What would be my options:

For a 001 what would I have to mod to get it close to gen and where can I source these items; unfortunately the case might not be an option but other components can:

For the 001b

1.Dial (I have reached out to FGD, but not sure he makes these)

2. CG

3. crown (ordering a Palp from Marcus currently)

4. case back

For the 005

1. Dial (who has the best dial other than OEM)-- That dang incorrect logo bugs that crap out of me!!!

2. CG (I would go with Toro, but would look into LH)

3. crown (Palp)

This version is the Faux PR. I have heard it has a PR of about 5 days--more than enough for me.

Not really sure, but I do believe it goes back to IWC's nautical beginnings. Now I do know that the 5002 has two versions. The first and earlier version of the 5002 has the fish crown, while the second version (called the transitional 5002) all have what they call the Probus crown. The rep is a copy of the 5002-1 version.

BTW: This watch is virtually indistinguishable from gen.

I never thought that I'd like the BP. However, after seeing the reviews, the watch, putting it on, and seeing how close to gen it looks and feels one cannot resist. It is a solid watch and feels gen. Love it!!

If you didn't care to pass off a watch as a gen, then what are you doing on a rep board? Sorry, but the fact is, and it doesn't matter who, if you're into reps, you want a copy of the gen so you can appreciate it as a gen and people or yourself recognise it as one. Not so much as fraud to sell as a gen, but the impression is of one.

Why else would there be so many reviews on our reps vs gens, so much 3rd party modders offering their services? 3rd party parts?

Regardless, the other tell would be the sheen of the SS. I haven't polished it yet, but compared to a stock SSDv2 last night, the sheen is darker, and compared to a gen Sub, hand in hand comparison, it's noticeably darker.

You hit the nail.. I think that a lot of folks are just a bit hypocritical. To say that you buy a rep of this caliber to tell folks that it is a rep is a bunch of BS. One of the real reasons why we buy this stuff is to try to pass it off as the real thing. Especially, the Type A rep collectors for one. If you just did it for the love of the piece why would so many of us be so critical about the flaws.. BTW, I always say they are reps and I am proud of it..lol

An artisan rep maker, only interested in perfection. It takes a year+ to bring one of his watches to market, and people who pre-order the watches always complain and go insane while waiting.

He is a dude that makes Rolexes that are not so real, but they look so real that he makes you question why the heck would anybody shell out the Benjamin's for the real thang. He take's his time, but in the end you end up with a product that you don't have to worry about entering an AD with the watch--I wouldn't risk it though. He is getting scary good at it. I think that it's an inside job and he is getting the trade secrets from a clandestine mole.

WTF... B&R.. I didn't know that the "R" in B&R was really for Rolex not Ross. That is some tacky shat.. BTW.. Love my UN- Minor flaws and all. These look great on the wrist. My Chronometer is the most expensive looking of all my reps.

Phoband I am as passionate as you about this brand. I think that they are finally recognizing a true brand. Ulysse Nardin's are in the same league as Breguet's, Lange, Audemars Piguet, Blancpain, Breguet, JLC, Patek Phillipe, Vacheron Constantin. Way more important and recognized in the horological world than Rolex, Tag,Cartiers Omega's, and Breitlings. It is nice to see that they are repping them and at truely great prices. I was truely impressed with my Maxi Chronometer and hope that they continue to expand and come out with more versions.

Indeed, the very same one. I chose asian7750.com for the deal, since Tony there has been recommended by a few people as fast and reliable. The price is $118 from there + $30 shipping. The model above isn't pictured on the site (except in gold), but getting it was no problem.

And no, the price is far from frightening, so I'll consider not punching you on the nose if we ever run into one another.

It also appears amazingly accurate for a rep at this price point, apart from a few quite small differences. On the original the hour hand seems just a little shorter and the surface of the hands are subtly rounded, not beveled. The back is another matter of course, but I guess there's nothing much to do about that. Oh, and I can't see from your pictures if the dial is textured - the original's dial has a sunburst texture, while the rep appears to have none.

Now I just hope the rep makers come out with a bracelet of the same quality sooner rather than later.

You're just too damn good a photographer ebzen02. If your pics had been just a little crappier, I probably wouldn't have felt that overpowering urge to go and get it myself. But I did - and just so you know, I hold you personally responsible for the sudden dip in my bank balance.

LOL!!! The dip should not have been too bad considering what one pays for the average rep..
