  1. I hear a lot of good things about the quality of his reps, especially the submariner. I think it is his site, but he is not on the dealer sections here or at RG. Most refer to his watches as WM9 Subs etc.
  2. This was posted by Niko on RG on the 24th Sept: 'Jakub is currently on extended leave from the forum due to a family bereavement. We offer him our thoughts and best wishes at this time. Please be patient with any work that you have pending with Jakub, as we expect that he will return in the near future. In the meantime, we suggest that you do not send watches or crystals to him until he returns and clears any backlog of work that he has. Please contact the forum staff with any questions.' Hope this clears matters up a bit.
  3. I am waiting for some prices from him too, normally he was very quick, but I guess recently he must be out of action as I have heard nothing for over a month.
  4. Wow, that looks amazing. I was considering what it would look like on my Blackbird, I have to say the normal rep lume is terrible. Get the lume done and lessen the blue on the AR and it would be a stunning rep.
  5. yep, 21/18 is the correct OEM spec.
  6. yep looks like they missed it. I had a SFSO with the arrow seconds hand and they c*cked that one up too. If it is an ETA version you could probably get gen ones, other than that try your dealer.
  7. Welcome Manu, you will find lots of great watch information and new friends here too.
  8. This foum is hilarious. Glad my g/f is rep friendly, even though her's are gens!

  10. Looks pants. The size is good, but the original dial is much better looking. Looks like Omega are milking as many of their line as possible at the moment. Here is another amended Speedmaster.
  11. Sounds dodgy to me, looking at the listing it quotes $26 shipping to the UK, so I think that the seller is trying their luck. I would report him and get him banned if I were you. Or at very least put a negative comment on the record, he cannot leave a bad one for you since the bay changed the system.
  12. I am sure that replacement movements will be around for years to come, so that when the hearts in our current stock fade, we can keep them going for another 5 years or so. My gen speedmaster is still going after 9 years with no servicing at all.
  13. Great looking watches, I love the PO, it is a true classic that will live on like the sub.
  14. I've got a PO 42mm on order and I can't wait to wear it to the movie launch.
  15. But if you slip up, you ruin a good crystal. I would just live with the etching rather than try removing it. Either that, or get an MBW so you can get a gen or aftermarket blank crystal.
  16. Hi Jimmy, The reason why nobody has responded is because one of the most common questions from someone who has just joined this and the other foums, is 'where can I find the best sub?' This site was created to offer unbiased advice, but you need to use the search button and all will be revealed. All the debate and pictures and experiences from many different people, from many different countries and with many different requirements. Your post is a true 'Noob' error and some members here will have seen posts like yours a thousand times. Since you are only just starting out you are not really to blame. From now on try the search function and also browse the seperate subsections and you will find that you can spend years learning about the rep watch market. Most people start with a Rolex desire, but soon learn that there are some amazing reps of brands you might never have heard of, like Panerai etc. Enjoy the journey, make some great friends here, and you will gain a great hobby. Welcome, and may you become wise and mentally wealthy through the teachings and library of rep info here. As to our bank balances, nobody here has worked out how to help that side of the hobby, this is a very costly addiction, but a fun one, nonetheless. Tom
  17. FYI, the gen engraving is made up of laser etched dots not one solid engraving so the dots are more accurate. It should also be very hard to see.
  18. Hi Jimmy, There is a wealth of information on this forum about what people consider the best sub, it differs from member to member according to which things you think are important with a rep and which are not. I have read a lot about the euromariner and it is a mix of two of the best rep models out there. Also Chris (eurotimez) seems to be trying hard to give good info and QC to the forum members. I have not heard anything bad against him so far. So if you want one of the best available, I think his euromariner is a great buy. But for $90 you can get a noobmariner which is only slightly less accurate. Tom
  19. Having a favorite Bond actor is all part of the game, but everyone will have a different choice and reason. Connery usually comes out on top but the others do also have some credit, especially when you look at how the studios had to change the Bond character to relect and appeal to the population and film demands of the public at the time. The Roger Moore ones are a good example. If Bond had not become a comedian then the franchise would have collapsed. Such was the 1970s!! Craig has had some great write ups and I do think he is one of the best, but obviously I am biased as he was chosen for these current times and fits in well. It all really comes down to whether you are a purist and think the original books and Ian Fleming's original vision are important, or you might be more commercial and think that the explosions and bling of the genre are the key. Both are right, as without either the Bond series would never have been so successful. But I will stick to my guns with the classic bias rather than the bling. Don't get me wrong, both watches are great. But the PO to me is so much more Bond......
  20. I have obviously trodden on a nerve, and I know some people find him attractive and will defend him . Brosnan was a 'Bond' but not a Fleming Bond and there is a difference IMHO. He was pretty good, but the scripts really fell apart in the last two of his films. I am glad that the production company has refocused on the colder character of the original books, and yes I have read them. Remember the Bond films follow the fashion of the times they were released. So the PO is very noughties and the SMP is very nineties. So the question of this original thread was asking about a Bond based choice. From my experience with the Bond books, and Fleming's character I would have thought he would steer towards the classic rather than the flashy. In the books his car of choice was a classic Bentley rather than the Astons. Hence Sub or PO over SMP. Simple. But at the end of the day, non of us are Bond, so we should just pic what we are happy with, and what suits our own tastes.
  21. I agree that Omega does add a different quality angle to the film, especially now that Rolex has become the biggest bling brand in the world, unlike when it was in the Fleming novels of the 1950s. Here in the UK, it is the same with the Rolex and Ferrari stereotype, if you have 'class and good taste' you try and buy something that is more niche and distinguished, but as always this gets copied and becomes vulgar too. Like people buying Audis to get away from BMW's image, or Bentleys and Aston Martins to be different to the Ferrari and Lambo buyers. Basically, as soon as a pro footballer buys it, it becomes unfashionable, hence Hublot will never attain any real classy following. I still think the SMP is more Brosnan (cheesey blingy Bond) while the PO is more for the original rugged and masculine modern and classic Craig Bond. Think of which one Sean would have worn if they were the options to him for Dr No, and I think he would have gone with the PO.
  22. Whoops, I have been so busy I totally forgot what I had posted before, complete chaos at home. Sorry for the duplicate FxrAndy! Thanks for your link to the previous posting, I am glad that it looks like it is the new ETA clone, so might have a smoother hand sweep similar to the gen ETA.
