Use pool chlorine instead of laundry bleach and you can get the same effect.

I doubt if anyone has tried a gen bezel insert since I hear they go for about $800 and aren't available to the general public. Probably, the crystal isn't interchangeable as they aren't on any of the new Subs other than the WM9 models. The CG's are fine and the solid end links aren't really moddable. They are what they are............ The only good mod available that I've heard of is BK just got in a bunch of new Superlumed dials and hand sets. I doubt if he'll sell them separately though so if that's what you want, you might as well buy from him. If you're bound and determined to mod something, buy an older model Sub with more flaws. And more gen parts availability.

It sure looks like the two pieces are the same size. You sure the pin didn't break in half? You can buy those pin and tubes, but they come in kits of assorted sizes, or take it to a local watch repair place and see it they have any.

There's not much needed for the new ceramic Subs that can be easily modded. Buy it and enjoy is as is, I'd say.

I'm wearing the same thing as I type. And I'm usually a Rolex guy. Be aware that according to my watch service guy that the 7750 movements in these particular watches come pretty dirty and over oiled in some areas and under oiled in others. He's done several of them. On mine the minute counter stuck the first time I used the chrono. So, if you like to play with the chrono you better plan on a service. Now it runs like a charm.

You can get a rep Presidential bracelet to fit a gen case with a little massaging. I'm not using this one since I bought a gen Jubilee. PM me if you're interested.

That Ultrasonic Cleaner People Like Is Back On Sale W/ Free Shipping

It does a great job of cleaning watch bracelets. Gets all the funk from out of the links. In fact I've put in a couple of full watches and they come out sparkling clean. Just make sure they are waterproof. As Jkay said, you have to ignore the auto shut off and run it 2 or 3 times. -

I bought one last month. It works great, particularly on the wife's jewelry. Highly recommend it for that price. Great to hear the Windex idea. -
It may be cultural or not. I don't know but there is certainly nothing cheeky or dodgy about it. Why is it any different than buying something on eBay. You buy, it takes you to PP and you pay the amount you bid. You don't pay the bid amount plus fees. Why is it any different than using a credit card at a store? I've owned a few retail stores in my past and fees are part of your cost of doing business as a seller. I don't know if it's still true but It used to be that you absolutely were not allowed to charge the buyer for the cost of credit card fees or you would loose your CC account.
-
Wow that's tempting. Great price for the package deal. I hope it sells quickly before I break down and buy another watch that I don't really need.
-
I just looked in the classifieds and didn't see it. In fact there's only about 6 watches listed.
-
Personally, I feel that if you buy something for $100 and the seller takes PP, the buyer should send $100. The PP fees are taken out of the sellers by default. It's just like buying something on a credit card. The seller always pays CC fees not the buyer. That's why so many people state in their sales post $100 and buyer pays fees. When I see that in a sales post it really turns me off to the purchase though. If the couple of dollars are that important sell the watch for $102. And, I would never buy a watch where the sellers demanded payment as gift. I'll send gift every time to someone that I feel comfortable with but other than that, why would I give up all my rights?

Quite an upgrade! It's gonna take some getting used to.

I was just looking at an old DG movement with the rotor off and I can see that it would be a major dis-assembly to get to where you can see the problem. It's beyond my scope of work. I can definitely see that.

Hey Maxman, I'm sure there's no right and wrong on this subject. I've heard on the rep forums for years not to wind your watches. I've also read many times on gen forums that it's totally acceptable to wind them. Even the manufacturers web sites will tell you to wind them when first putting them on. I've owned many automatic watches in the last 40 years and have never hurt one winding it. Two exception, as far as winding, are the Seiko movements since they don't manually wind and it often pisses me off when they have a tendency to stop when you don't wear them consistently enough to get the power reserve up. And the other is the 7750, which also has a tendency to stop even when worn after a few days. I still wind them, although very slowly and carefully, about every five days or so. I also no longer have any A7750 movement watches that haven't been completely serviced and doubt if I'll get any more due to their poor quality control as they come out of the factory.
-
Come on! It's a Swiss ETA. If you can't wind it why would they make it that way. I understand the A7750's problem since it's got crap winding gears.. In my opinion, (take it or leave it), you should wind it fully about 40 times when it's totally dead. Just go slow and steady. Then let the kinetic movement of your wrist keep it wound. You wound it 5 times from dead stop and then went to the movies and sat there. Then took it off. Why would you expect it to keep running? 40 hours power reserve is from fully wound.

The dial is very close but I don't think it's gen. Look at the spacing of the letters "ET" on chronometer. They seem a little stretched compared to my gens. Also the Rolex crown is crooked and the opening at the base of the crown looks a little too oval. I could be wrong......... It also should have a champagne date wheel, lug holes, and you're missing a crown tube. And the bezel doesn't look flat enough to be a gen. You'd need to post to side shot to be sure.

If you're talking to me, I didn't burn anything. It's not even my watch. I've got nothing against the "little girly movement". It's probably every bit as good as the 2836-2 as far as function. In fact my wife has a couple of watches with that movement.
-
The V2 didn't use a 2824-2. It used the little girly movement 2671 (or something like that). I can understand how it would be a little more difficult to align on all axis, but not impossible. Image shamelessly pilfered from another thread. Hope the owner doesn't mind...........

While we're talking about these dials. Who has good vintage Daytona dials for 7750 movements. Seems most here are talking about gen/valjoux type dials.
-
I'll bet you can find the correct screw somewhere on or in the movement. He probably put the small headed one somewhere else and didn't want to go back and change it.
-
I'll bet it's the same movement as used in the UN Maxi Divers. That one seemed like a pretty good movement back when I owned one.
-
When and if the price comes down a bit I may swap one into a franken DJ and put on a set of gen Rolex hands since I already have a set.

I can't imagine Rolex spending millions of $$$ to engineer and manufacture a chrono movement and then sh*t can it for a Sellita. Just makes absolutely no sense. Nor does it make sense that ETA, the largest watch movement manufacturer in the world is gonna let a little pissant company like Sellita kill their biggest selling automatic movements without a huge fight, even it the patents are expired. Remember, Sellita was a merely a supplier to ETA just a few years ago and all they have now is the same ETA clones that the Chinese have. Only better quality and cleaner manufacturing environment. It's great that the big bully, ETA is finally getting some competition though. The rep manufacturers and independents are still not getting any quantities of Sellita movements apparently. I'd love to see that market open up
