  1. Please report back as I'm also curious to know.
  2. It's a fairly simple fix. I can't explain it properly or tell you the names of the parts but I've had a couple that developed those symptoms and it was just a matter of re-setting the date changing mechanism. An arm had slipped out of place. You do have to take the dial off to get to it though.
  3. I agree. I'm sure there are a lot of people that would be interested to know where you sourced it from.
  4. Most dealers offer a warranty. The only ones I've had die have fortunately been from Joshua and he's always repaired or replaced them at no charge other than the shipping cost one way. Three chronos I've had serviced for around $100 each and they are all over a year old and working perfectly.
  5. Your reading comprehension is a little slow this morning Defender. I quote from the OP: And now for the 'issue'...and my only grief with this rep. Since the mov't isn't what most of us expected, based on the latest A7753 but simply modified A7750 - the overall movement is thicker. This is due to the fact there is an extra gear needed to transfer the 30-min chrono totalizer from 12 to 3 o'clock. If the case, bezel, rehaut, and dial are of the same dimensions as the gen, something else had to be done to accomodate thicker mov't inside the case. The result is crown and chrono pushers that are now positioned about 1 mm lower on the case profile. If they went with the A7753 mov't, this wouldn't be a problem, and the mov't would be interchangeble with the genuine ETA7753 or gen Panerai OP XIX mov't. In this config - it isn't. So the statement "all parts interchangeable with genuine" simply doesn't stick, in other words it's a load of bull fed to the dealers by the rep makers. Edit: Seems I misread Defender's original statement and apologize for the misunderstanding. He was only pointing our what was in the original thread.
  6. Seems like I've seen this same thread on other forums. Turns out it is a version that is no longer available. So an apples to oranges comparison at best. Plus, he's already made a counter offer that was turned down. Said the seller took offense. I strongly doubt that the seller is interested in dealing with the OP.
  7. The gen non ceramic bracelet is "hollow, light ant tingy" that will last 40 years or more. It's an engineering masterpiece.
  8. Hope this isn't what you've been waiting for. The HE valve is still in the wrong place and it doesn't have the correct coin edge bezel for a 42mm.
  9. CrazyBob did OK on that one. $8400!
  10. When I first saw that eBay listing I emailed him and asked about the ar'd cyclops. He had no idea what I was talking about and the short answer was, "I don't think so". Don't waste your money.
  11. With a narrow wrist (mine is 6 1/2" also) neither is a good choice. I've had both and they were uncomfortable for different reasons. The Cousteau has a rubber strap that is rather thick at the lugs and doesn't bend very well around a narrow wrist. The DSSD is, on the other hand, rather large and top heavy with the narrow bracelet. Both are more suitable for someone with a wide wrist, not necessarily just a large wrist. The Cousteau on a bracelet, if you could find it, would be a much better choice. Or as mentioned a Slevin on bracelet.
  12. I noticed while looking at a bunch of pictures of a 14060 Sub yesterday that they had lot's of gen pictures with both types of inserts. It just left me more confused, although you don't really know how many have had the inserts changed over the years.
  13. I'd put it on a vintage Daytona. Pre-Oyster model. Other than that, I have no idea.
  14. It's best to e-mail him. He's not around often to collect pm's.
  15. I could easily have started collecting vintage Seikos. There are lots of them around at very reasonable prices. Another group of vintages that are quite reasonable are the old Omegas, although they are mostly rather small. Doxas are great but getting too expensive.
  16. The bad thing is that they can be rather difficult to get out once they snap in place unless you take the bezel off. Other than that, I agree.
  17. It seems to have something to do with where it's shipped to.
  18. It would be nice if dealers would e-mail the customers and let them know. Seems like this happens once a month.
  19. Do you need a special one for Pams? Rolex/Tudor for $14.50 http://cgi.ebay.com/DATE-DISC-ROLEX-TUDOR-ETA-2892-2-BLACK-PART-/160490468702?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item255dfa355e
  20. I've got to believe that the depth charts that watch companies want you to believe are very conservative. I've been wearing a SSD for close to 3 years and it's been in the beach, my pool, and even skin diving to around 20 feet on many occasions and it never leaked. I pressure tested it and found the crystal leaked at 5 atmospheres yet it never showed any signs of water penetration in the years of use. Also on the same topic, my Noobmariner, WM9 v3, Omega PO, Josh's 1665 vintage all passed 5 atm. The one that I was the most confident in is the only one that failed. Edit: And yes 75 lbs = roughly 5 Atm. That's what I was using.
  21. SSD has been discontinued. Jackjo on RG said he's tried almost all the dealers an it's not available.
