  1. I ordered a bunch of beginners tools from Ofrei online a while ago, and it was a flawless transaction. He actually upgraded for free a few items that were out of stock.

    Regards,

  2. If you are going to do some "real turism" through South America, taking a valuable watch is a sure recipe for trouble.

Off the top of my head, the watch that meets all your requirements is a Seiko black monster. I usually take a quartz POS.

    Have fun on your trip!

  3. Hi,

    Thanks for your kind comments.

The watch was originally bought from Joshua (swiss 6497 movement). Mark replaced the crystal with a custom plexiglass one and he relumed the watch with vintage lume. The dial was relumed using some kind of enamel on top of the lume, giving it a great vintage feel.

    Regards,

  4. Being a Pam lover, my biggest disappointment would have to be the WM white SD. Hands down the fastest watch I have ever flipped. As soon as I opened the package I knew it wasn't for me. Quality seemed good, but it was tiny on my wrist, and still needed a few modifications. The watch was on the post office on its way to the new owner about two hours after I got delivery of it.

On the other side of the spectrum, the watch that I keep going to is my lightly modded 063. I have gotten it to the point where I am satisfied with, and I just love that watch.

  5. Ah! Having messed up one myself, I also learned the hard way.

I was told to pull the stem all the way out (change time position) and then, with a 1.2mm screwdriver, press lightly as one pulls the stem out.

I wish I had asked before I mangled my 063. I am making The Zigmeister rich! :)

    Regards,

so for the time being, since i have an empty 1680 case (movement is off being serviced) i think i'm gonna put the white 1680 movement in there, so i can get the bit tip out without worry of damaging the movement.

SO, i have a annoying question, which has been answered a million times before but I am very very gunshy, when pressing the crown release, what size screwdriver should i use, and should i press on an angle, straight, how? Cause the past 2 times i released the crown, the keyless works jammed up, so now 2 movements are on their way to The Zigmeister.

Also, what is the best position for the crown to be in, date set, time set?

thanks guys, always very helpful :)

  6. This has also happened to me on my Pam 063 the third time or so I worked on it. I actually used a watchmaker screwdriver and still managed to sink it! I feel a little relieved to see that some other members have done this, as I thought I was the only one. Mine will be going to The Zigmeister to have it fixed and serviced. My confidence level working with watches has plunged after this fiasco :)

  7. Ricky Martin. Not too proud that I recognized it right away...

Do you know how I know that you are... nevermind.

  8. Can a kind soul on this forum please measure the bezel of your vintage Marina Militare with Rolex crown?

Finepics, it has to be 40mm to fit, correct?

    Many thanks,

@ rqthrottle - not sure about this and I am unable to measure a bezel as I don't have one spare.
  9. Are you sure that order form is working? I am not sure that after filing the form, it goes into a black hole... and your credit card # along with it.

I am very willing to believe the quality is better than the standard rep, however I do think Davidsen's mm20 is a great deal for the money. I will still end up getting a real mm20 soon. If you put two high quality straps in, a real swiss movement, 100 m waterproof and outstanding lum and nice presentation box the 1,000 doesn't seem like a lot anymore. It's friday, a few drinks and I'll probably end up here with a credit card.
