  1. lol :)

I just meant, because after buying the gen 7928, I dumped about $500 into it having a lot of work done, and it looked flawless, and now a couple of weeks later the plexicrystal is looking pretty scratched. What's the stuff that is useable to buff out acrylic scratches?

Nanuq I couldn't sell my gen Tudor for less than 50,000 goats :)

  2. Hi there,

I have a 7928 Tudor Sub. Only a few weeks ago I had it completely overhauled, serviced, and the crystal replaced. It seems that the standard for the crystal is to use a plexiglass crystal. I hate this because it's already scratched up! :) Does anyone know if there is a Rolex/Tudor sapphire crystal that will fit in a 7928 case so that I can have this watch for years without scratches?

    Thank you

  3. Gotta love Tudor subs. I couldn't find a good rep so I bought a gen. It was pretty beat up, had my watch guy service the movement, replace the crystal, and clean the whole thing up. Now it is so gorgeous. It's beautiful because the hands and dial are faded, but they just look so perfectly with the crystal clear crystal.

  4. ok, I guess Ive just be shot down in a hug ball of flames and smoke...Im just trying to help, but I guess Ill keep my source a secret and continue to use his skillful knowledge in anything rep by myself...

    Cheers

Please don't feel shot down. TeeJay made a great post. I'm new here, and I'm not "connected" so basically I can never have anything done by The Zigmeister. I would love to have more information about your watch guy and know that there is a place that my rep can have mods and things done to them. Is he in the CONUS?

  5. Wrong, I NEVER delete my ads, as I want to stay clear in case of problem. And the explanation of hidden thread is IMO the one and only.

BTW, if by chance it concerns the B&R I sold you, what did you want to check, maybe I can help ? ;)

FYI, your watch will reach you if not today, within 48 hours. 7-10 days is a usual transit time between E.U. and the East-Coast.

    Hi Pix,

I was looking for the B&R thread, but only because I wanted to drool over the watch for a bit :) I was just bored at home and was looking for it and was curious why all the for-sale threads get deleted upon completion, but now I understand why, and makes sense.

In no way did I question or doubt anything about our transaction, you have a stellar reputation and I have no doubt I will be happy!

  6. I believe what Ken is saying here is there is a hidden code in each sales thread, unique to that sale, which will know the precise moment somebody will buy the article, so it is like a self-destruct system on a timer. As soon as the time it knows the sale was predetermined to happen, it releases the 'delete this thread' line of code, and viola! Gone. Stealth. Another reason to stay here at RWG ;)

Hmm.. I read his post as meaning that they have some kind of backup of the sales threads in case there is a problem.

  7. Hi there,

I bought a watch off of a member about a week ago, and I went to review the sales thread, and it has been deleted. This seems like a very bad thing to do, in case there is any dispute between what was promised in the sales thread and what is actually delivered. Now it seems if I receive my watch from this member and it's not what was advertised at all, then I have no way to prove it.

    Is this normal?

  8. I'd like to hear the rationale from long time members who don't support RWG through their fiscal contributions. Membership status can be had by throwing in less than $0.15 per day.

What are your reasons...sloth...oversight...it's not worth it...some other reason???? Is it the cash???

I don't contribute because I don't like being called out like this. Who do you think you are to try to put people on the spot? You've just made me change my thoughts from "may contribute" to "will not."

  9. Hey guys

Well, it seems that if you order an ETA movement you are likely to get an asian clone anyway. I am not very familiar with how Omega's movements run. Is there much difference between the ETA and asian movements? More importantly, the watch itself is the same, right, just the movement would be upgraded?

    Thank you

  10. To me I'm kind of scared of getting screwed over. Since there doesn't seem to be any delivery confirmation for international shipments via the USPS. I sold a $40 watch to a guy in Australia, and I sent it, and he told me he would assume all risks of it getting lost etc. I never heard from him again, so I assume he got it. But I'd be scared that the person would be able to file a paypal complaint saying they never received the item, then I'd be out the money and the watch.

  11. I guess I'm just frustrated with online commerce in general. I ordered two NATO straps from MWR. My order was delayed for a while because the bond-style NATO's were on back order. No problem. I get the order today, and the bond strap is a Zulu instead of NATO. Now I have to go through the hassle of going to post office, mailing it back, at my cost, and waiting on the replacement.

It's just so damn frustrating because really, how hard is it to get an order with two items correct? The thing is, in *my* job line, if I screwed up like that most people would be trying to sue me for multiple millions of dollars. Oops I gave you the wrong medication and you died? Sorry, it looked like the other one and I just messed up.

  12. So I guess there is nothing to be done? I really don't understand it ..... why do we put up with the quality. There must be a way to at least make a price adjustment for these watches. If you pay X$ for a watch and it's not right, then the prices must reflect. I don't mind paying big $ for great reps, but they should deliver what is promised ... no?

I've recently had trouble with one of the new dealers who swears up and down the watches go through multiple rounds of QC. He supposedly sends 1 watch, via some cheap shipping method, and it never arrives. After 15-20 days I'm told if I want him to send a replacement I have to pay $25 more for EMS shipping. I do this. So now I've paid for shipping twice and for the watch once. The 2nd watch arrives, it's the worst watch I've ever seen, with multiple different QC issues noticeable within 5 seconds (slanted text, all the hour markers are misaligned, cyclops crooked, etc). So then I'm expected to send this watch back to China, at my cost (so this will be my third shipping I paid for), and then wait for another watch?? It's been almost two months now, no watch. lol.

I check the for-sale threads daily because I really only feel safe buying from members now.
