  1. If that's a cheap rep, what are the chances that's mineral glass?
  2. I used to commute 25 miles each direction to and from Glasgow on a motorcycle and while it's not as heroic as your single trip, it's something that over a 4 month winter you shockingly get used to. When people are saying Zero or -15 here, are we talking in Fahrenheit or Celsius?
  3. Indeed, this is the case. I'm a very young looking 40-years old and wear t-shirts and jeans usually, but most people I work with know I'm well enough paid to have some of the toys I like. However, did you know that most people would assume a fancy watch cost hundreds of dollars instead of the thousands they really cost? If you ask most non-watch people how much an Omega watch costs, they'll guess at $300. Try it; you'll be amazed.
  4. I don't suppose you have a guest room, eh? I think I need to see Alaska.
  5. Ah, yes. Ok.
  6. The only time I've been called out on a replica was when the person knew it was a replica beforehand. In other words, I've never been caught out. It doesn't happen. I don't even get the "It's a Rolex, it must be a fake".
  7. No. Read back a few posts. Essentially, she sent me the wrong return address.
  8. Gen or Rep?
  9. I get that on some of mine when I use a polarising filter ...
  10. I'm looking for replacement hands, and I'm not looking for Superlume as the gen dial doesn't glow anywhere near as much as SL.
  11. If you imagine that almost every single one of my photos on this site is merely 640px wide, you can understand that more pixels is not always better. Having said that, I know what it's like getting work back from The Zigmeister and understand the kind of joyous exuberance that it creates that can lead to not shrinking photos.
  12. Since the eyecandy was posted in August, the 183 is in my general rotation.
  13. A black 26mm one I got from V. That's all I know about it.
  14. I presume you're talking about parts for mods you can do yourself, as opposed to getting the mod done for $50, right? Ok, I vote for genuine dials. Not for Rolex reps (please don't call them Ralex, as it makes no sense) obviously, but for the IWCs, Breitlings, etc., you can get bargains if you don't mind lightly used. My GST has a genuine dial that cost about $50, for instance.
  15. A gen dial is sometimes available on eBay. Search here for where people have found them. As for the lume, don't forget that the rep hands don't have any lume, so lume shots are rather boring.
  16. Update: (reposted from RWI) Well, here's how it is. The watch was sent back to Ruby around the 23rd of September as posted previously, and still hadn't arrived. She asked me to confirm that I'd sent it to the right address and gave me the address I was to have sent it to. The first half was the same as the previous address she gave me, but that's all. So, the reason she never received the watch was because she gave me the wrong address. I'm now waiting for her to get another one in stock for me, which is a little annoying as she should have known I'd be needing one. Once that's over, I'll be waiting for the delivery again. As I'm sure you can imagine, I'm not really very pleased with the way this has worked out. She did offer me a replacement two-tone Navitimer, but there's no way I'm settling for the wrong watch, even if it's admittedly higher-priced, after what will be about two months once I get the replacement. ... This whole rant is mostly about being frustrated about having to wait for a watch. It's not a "don't buy from Ruby" post and it's not a "don't buy 7750s" post. Sure, Ruby should have given me the right address and had my watch ready in stock by now or even sent the replacement out before she received mine back, but these are the things that remind you you're not dealing with Amazon dot com.
  17. I suspect a lot of people would have preferred that you didn't get to the point you needed to gift him in the first place. That's the impression I get. Still, if Arthur is happy, you've made good on the trade and that's all we can ask for. I suspect you'll find it a little harder to trade for a while, but RWG is a forgiving bunch. Sometimes a little too forgiving, tbh, so you should be fine.
  18. Gen dial on the left As you can see, the text under the date window is slightly different. What you can't see easily is that the 6-o-clock subdial is aligned better on the gen and that there is no lume at all on the rep.
  19. Great watch, splendid pictures, etc. You must be getting used to these comments now. Keep it up, because while you may be getting used to hearing our praise, we will never tire of your masterpieces.
  20. This is why he stated 'unmodified' I believe.
  21. If it is but a couple of weeks, I'll survive.
  22. I wish I had a Navitimer ...
  23. I see this behaviour as well when I use the search feature. It appears that there is a DIV closed too many times or not enough, at a guess, as there are boxes that move inside other boxes. FWIW, I'm running Firefox.
  24. Excellent stuff. Thanks for that.
