  1. On my 240 from David before the movement died on the first one the date stopped working just as you describe.

After I got the replacement I popped the thing open and removed the date wheel (I like the font) before doing this I tried to figureo ut why it wasn't working. Turns out that one of the screws that holds the plate over the keyless works was loose. Once I tightened it up, the date set with no issues.

thanks for the info. unfortunately i don't trust myself getting inside my watches so i'll have to leave that to the pros.

  2. got a DSN 240 roughly a week ago and thought I'd post a few thoughts. keep in mind this the second watch i've received from him. first was a nice 111h.

the transaction was flawless. good communication and lightning fast shipping.

received the watch and couldn't wait to assemble the strap and put it on. my first concern was the case. i had heard that some were coming with less than acceptable cases. i inspected every aspect and was quite pleased with the overall cleanliness of the exterior. no dents, dings or machining marks. the crystal was nice, sitting just a hair above the bezel and coated nicely with a subtle blue tinge that wasn't too obvious. the cyclops is good with good magnification. i assembled the strap and immediately noticed the typical stripped screw tube threads. whatever.....just used the spring tubes and problem solved.

crown guard is average. it's overall look is very nice but operation is on the sloppy side. the fit to the case is 95% with the tiniest of gaps on the bottom 6 o'clock side. no biggie, perfectly acceptable for a rep. CG lever is visually acceptable but has a lot of play when in the open position. i won't complain yet regarding it's less than positive feel in the closed position because that's more of a function of the spring loaded crown. i would like to be able to reduce the side to side play when open but don't know if that's possible?

on to the movement. the crown sits way too far away from the case. it almost looks like it sits in the open position for setting the date but that isn't the case. the crown also sits at an angle as you look through the CG. as you pull the crown to set time and date, the date position is easy but you have to give quite some effort to pull it to the time setting. once open to set the time, the crown basically rubs on the CG as you turn it. not cool. the watch keeps good time but the date stopped working 1 day after receiving it. not cool again. i went to set the date today after returning from work and guess what? now the date cannot be set. the crown just spins. you can feel it wanting to engage but isn't catching. not cool and just plain BS.

the dial is good. clear and very clean. no complaints for a rep other than the poor lume witch can be fixed.

overall, i'd give this watch an 80% out of 100%. for the money paid i would expect everything to be at least in reliable working order. i'm happy with the visual aspects except the crown sticking out too far. it appears that some modding is in order and i hope this watch can be brought up to the 90%-95%.

lastly, do you members think the mechanical issues and CG can be remedied with modding and who would you recommend to do this? thanks for your help and thanks for reading.

  3. hey all,

just received my 240 and i have a bit of an issue with the CG locking lever. when closing the lever it does not lock into place very securely. it's not so bad that it flips open by itself, but it is fairly loose. i understand that the crown is spring loaded and that the lever may never be as positive as my 111, but is there anything that can be done to allow the lever to snap down better? thanks in advance for your knowledge.

  4. It's less likely that DSN's screws are too short but more likely than his case is wider at the lugs than it should be. His stuff is very inaccurate and poorly fitting. However try another set of screws just to make sure as regular reps screws vary slightly in length and you obviously need the longest that you can find. If you really want to sort this properly consider buying 26mm screws and cutting them to the exact length that you need and then recutting screw slots again. Not easy I'm sure but worth a try.

who does have the nicest case? i'm sure that's a subjective question, but if not DSN, what rep manufacturer?

  5. the screw tubes on my DSN 111H seem to be a little short. the non-threaded side seems to recess too far into the case and it looks a bit strange. do any of you have any recommendations for longer screw tubes? they need to be about 1mm longer. thanks in advance.

  6. Is DSN still using EMS for standard shipping? EMS was standard with all of my DSN orders in the past. But I recall seeing a recent offer where he noted 20USD extra for EMS shipping, otherwise just regular international shipping...

Is this the case now for all of his orders?

when he replied to me sat. regarding the shipping status, he stated that he would provide me with an ems tracking number today.

  7. however vile and sick this stunt must be, this pathetic excuse for a human artist will have the last say. in other words, his little stunt has been more successful than he could have ever dreamed. with his disgusting "project" completed he has stirred up a furor that has made him and his name a household term for a lot of us. bad press is still press.
