There was an interesting article in FT about Rolex and it

If the crystal is sapphire, it's the hardest, most scratch resistant surface on the watch. It makes perfect sense to me to put it out there to actually protect the bezel.
EDIT - krusty beat me to it.
And IMHO, although I love the look of double AR, it does kind of defeat the purpose of scratch resistant sapphire glass to put a coating that is relatively easy to scratch (I mean as compared to glass).
If you hit the watch from the top, the glass may indeed protect the bezel. However in the majority of cases someone hits a watch from the side. As there is a sharp edge, you hit both the bezel and the glass. This is exactly what happened to my Ti watch with the same glass design as Rolex: Now there is a scratch on the case AND a small scratch on the glass, because its sharp edge was hit. If the watch surface was flat, I

Yes & I have to admit that in all of my years of collecting watches, I was totally unaware of Rolex's reasoning (that they consider the crystal to be part of the 'design' of the watch). But now that I see where they are coming from, it makes perfect sense why their crystals rise above their watches' bezels & why they choose not to AR them. Kudos to Rolex for sticking to their principals.
If I understand correctly, it means that Rolex is saying: "It

TOP SECRET TOP SECRET TOP SECRET TOP SECRET TOP SECRET TOP SECRET TOP SECRET
This is from the top secret business report of the future telling watch company:
"Our head of research and development Mr. Milton K., former road worker and plumber, has been working on a new moonphase module for the ETA 2824-2 movement unsuccessfully in the past four and a half years. In order to limit the vast costs of development for this new module we have decided to take the non-working masterpiece of Mr. Milton K. and cross it with a power reserve complication from Dubois-D

SOSF. Same movement as the gen, and that feature is missing from every other rep listed.
Yes, good point. Rep movements are mostly completely different than gen movements. There are some more exceptions though: The gen Franck Muller Casablanca has an eta 2892-2 and there were/are rep FM watches with the same swiss eta movement. I

These are some good choices here too. I've never gone crazy over the Patek sports watches...so couldn't comment on these for accuracy. I like the look of the Grahams...but haven't read or researched enough to know how accurate a reproduction they are. They are impressive looking watches...but like many...as impressive as they may be...I have no idea how accurate they are.
The Link Chrono and Porsche Flat 6 are good ones.
I left the 3717 series out as the 3717-01/03 usually has at least a couple crooked markers that are the wrong dimensions...and the 3717-02/05 because of the wrong caseback and running seconds hand size. I think the Spitfire (02/05) is more accurate visually out of the box (caseback aside) as the crooked markers on the 3717-01 stand out more to me.
I left out the Slevin/CD series because of the misalignment in the internal rotating bezel, sticker on the 2006 CD, colour matching and wrong lume on the Slevin, etc...
Yes, that

I forgat one more: Breitling Chrono Avenger Ti old version.

Well, it turns out that there are tons of great reps and basically I do agree with the lists above. I was just thinking about making one more list with ten watches (in no particular order). These are also considered as super reps by one member or the other and are very close to the original:
1. FM Salmon Dial Casablanca with the same movement as the gen.
2. MBW/MBK Patek Nautilus
3. MBW/MBK Patek Aquanut
4. Rolex Correct Hand Stack GMT Master II
5. Cartier Santos 100 - unfortunatelly the rwg dial project was not realized
6. Porsche Flat 6
7. IWC 3717
8. Graham Chrono Fighter
9. Chopard MM
10. Tag Heuer Link Chrono
+1. IWC Slevin/Cousteau Diver

Welcome here! I can only warn you: This place is full of nice people and the hobby may grow on you very fast.

One of my favourite brands is Eterna (presently owned by Porsche). They had a very important invention, which became a kind of industry standard: The ball-bearing rotor. The Eterna logo is also based on this invention. There is a movement called Calibre 3800, which is somehow generally unknown - or at least I never read or hear about it:

Yip.
Gen Dial.
Lello Datewheel.
Chief double AR.
Gen Strap.
Serviced 7750.
Very nice, stunning watch. Congratulations!

...sure there are agents who are working "undercover". Only LVHM (they own Zenith, Tag Heuer, Hublot, etc.) has over 300 agents and they put over 1000 people in jail because of reps last year (if it
