  1. Does anyone have a cross reference chart for stems? I have acquired a huge lot of stems, and am tryng to help out a fellow member. I am searching for a cross reference on Unitas 6497/8 stems. A lot of the stems I have, are marked AS**** or EB**** but I can't find any reference to these numbers. Any info or a cross reference chart will help. Thanks Offshore
  2. Not technically correct however... our admin usually gets his mods to do most of the kicking! Offshore
  3. Had a chuckle tonite as I waded thu the 'bay. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/PHAT-MAXUM-HOSPITAL...1QQcmdZViewItem Not a scam... (Maxums are just cheap junk in my eyes).... but this guy sure has a "soft on" for his ex! Maybe a mod may like to reposition it in "Humour"? Offshore
  4. Guys, My PM to ff, was just that I may have a couple to help him with, not of a particular supplier. Offshore
  5. ss, There are times when you need to push a pin, say up near a watch case, when you can't get the bracelet square, in a screw type pusher you will be unable to push the pin into the gap on the other side, it will just push in to the "wall" With these you can push from above/below the bracelet, and almost always get the pin you want out. But I still use my screw type more often (and I would do 20 or 30 band jobs a week) Offshore
  6. Joe, Replacement pins from the blue ones fit these ( or at least they do in my case) Most tool suppliers have pins cheap. I have never had a problem needing various size pins... one size seems to do the job. Anyone had a different experience? Offshore BTW here is the ebay Oz link http://cgi.ebay.com.au/9076-watch-tool-WAT...1QQcmdZViewItem
  7. I have one, they work just great. One of the problems with the screw type, is that sometimes you can't push the pin thru, because it doesn't line up on the "out" side, and comes up against the plastic "wall" These overcome that problem. BTW, they are on ebay Oz right now, starting @$9.99 ( but watch the freight) Also available is a similar tool for punching holes is straps... equally as good. Offshore
  8. Yep, And they ALWAYS go for the "orchestra stalls" Sort of the Aussie version of the "Irish Kiss" http://www.videotiger.com/kangarooattackvideo.shtml Offshore
  9. TTK's posting ability has been suspended for 24 hours. When a warning is given, it must be adhered to. Further transgressions by either party will be equally dealt with. Offshore TTK..PM sent.
  10. OK guys, that's about enough from both of you, if either of you respond further, you will find your self with a holiday. And after that it will become long term. Offshore
  11. Gents, We are now WAY off topic, please take your personal battles elsewhere.... or this thread will be locked. Offshore
  12. Thanks guys, we are aware of it... they are actually referring to RWCC ( Replica Watch Collectors ??Club) a forum before TRC, so only us oldies would remember it. No harm there. Offshore

Tim, Never documented as such... suffice to say, it's just that...History. The search button here, and there, may reveal some of the mystery, but unfortunately the FACTS will probably never be known. Bit like a lot of history actually. Offshore
  14. Not really delta, this is just a censored titbit, from a much more reserved TTK! Those of us who remember his epic battles with Cousteau.... and what was that ladies name again? will attest to the fact that one mellows with age. From memory Thomas had to install the "fire station" @ TRC after one of their infamous jousts.... ah 'tis a pity he no longer visits Offshore
  15. Gee, even 10 past 10 hands! You should be a pro Lovely as usual Neil. Offshore
  16. Here is a copy of a post I made back in April 2005, at our former home... maybe we are seeing some of the same sort of thing here? In reality ETA would sub contract a lot of parts. I don't know about the watch game - but can relate a story about marine aftermarket parts. ( This is in the late 80's) I was in Taiwan sourcing aftermarket parts ( for my own business) and went to a factory where they were churning out outboard motor water pump impellors- price was great- and I asked if they had part no's stamped on them- was told you can have it with the Mercury number or without- we have 2 x dies. When questioned further- it was revealed that they actually manufactured the genuine for the OEM market- ie the brand manufacturer- How Mercury let them get away with this I don't know - but it went on for years- and I sold thousands!! Eventually I was closed down by the company who were contracting the parts - but it was done in my country- and I know it continues to this day!! I'm sure it happens in most industries- and the watch biz would seem a given for this sort of activity. Offshore
  17. Ah, jut another day in the life of a watch repairer! I keep a supply of bandaids close on hand at all times...my most used tool! Offshore
  18. Gotta say........That Ferrari's trucked! Offshore
  19. @jtb My wife either...... A. Did not get that joke B. Got it , but "was not amused" .............................I tend to think it may have been B! Touchy little devils ... aren't they? Offshore
  20. Pho, I had never read this before today! ( shows how many REAL topics us mods get to!) The basis of what you wrote almost 2 years ago, still holds so very true, and its an excellent intro for the noob, or not so noob! So bumpity bump... 'tis a pity its in "The Lounge" as I think a lot of the newbs, probably don't get to read it! Thanks for all you give. Offshore EDIT.. See it's now coming up in GD... good stuff.
  21. Geeze Doc, Am I still in this? And here I was about to do a little trolling... saying what a fine team the SCUM were! But what would I know... we don't even play with round balls! (Although I did read a report on the MU incident... and it didn't sound...... kosher) Have I won anything yet? When do I collect Offshore
  22. To the aspiring watch repairer... especially if you are in Oz.... this may prove.... after asking all the right questions.... a very good buy! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Watchmakers-Tool-Re...1QQcmdZViewItem If I had the readies, I would buy it myself... and sell off what I didn't want... there is a lot more than $3k ( or even $4k) in value in this auction.
