  6. Hi, I would like to relume my PAM 111 - the problem is I don't know who does it and how much it would cost. Could you please share your experience/cost ? I'm realy interested in the cost - it's a big factor for me. Thanks, Spikey
  7. 50 yes, but I paid 140 including shipping from Andrew... so, I don't know. I'll tighten the He valve and give it a try. I'm leaving today on vacation - Captiva Island and I'll report when I get back. Thanks!
  8. Ok... to better explain my decision to buy a rep is to have a cheap, working, nice looking watch. So the idea was that the quartz is cheap. The rep is not that bad (it fooled the jeweler and the watch smith - who should anyway know more than the average Joe) and if someone calls it, I'll admit to it. The only problem is that I want it to be just as useful as my $200 Sector Chrono. So let's assume I get a nice Aquaracer Chrono DayDate ...which is a diver watch, could that be water proofed? How expensive would that be? Thanks, Spikey @phoband: Gracias! @archibald: I remember reading a thread here and there were some people here that had water proof reps, either done by the dealer or by some watch smith or just by the factory. I thought that the case is identical to the more expensive watch with a better automatic or manual movt. (swiss, etc
  9. Hi, I'm a noob. These boards have been great and I thank you all for participating. About me, I just bought my 1st rep, a quartz Planet Ocean. The reason for the quartz was the low cost and law maintenance. I also have a PAM 111h on order, also from Andrew. The second order was done the same day my 1st rep arrived...I was so excited! However, I can't live with knowing that one day I may need to take my rep off before going into the pool or into the ocean (So. FL). So, I took my PO to a local jeweler, of course the guy didn't know it was a rep until I told him... he also sells Rolex and Tissot and was hard for me to figure out why would he not be up to speed with the rep phenomenon.... Anyway, I told my jeweler I want him to waterproof the PO (which may be missing a gasket under the He valve) and he's obviously not interested in working on it, he says that he can't do it because it will use different parts than the orig, bla bla, he can't take the responsibility... anyway he's not rep friendly. My question is, is there anybody on this board that had his rep waterproofed and tested by a watch smith and would he put me in contact with said watch smith so I could send my reps for the same service. I'm looking at 30FT at most.... also, I'm interested in the price. Thanks, Spikey
  10. Thanks surfer, I emailed silix but somehow I know the price will be almost the same as trusty's... I saw on onother site the difference was 60 bucks between mineral and saphire. Thanks, I think I decided.... now a need a nice vintage looking strap... something like these: I know RED12 makes some like these but I need more sources...under $100 shipped. Any ideeas?
  11. I noticed the one on silix has a mineral crystal...trusty's has saphire. How would that affect me if I want a nice custom AR? Does AR work on both? Thanks
  12. Is there any difference between this 111h at silix: http://www.silix-prime.com/product.asp?id=1471 and this 111h at trusty: http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...;products_id=94 The one at silix says "Chinese Manual Movement" and the one at trusty says "Asian Unitas 6497 Hand Wind" ... I know China is in Asia but could they have the same movement and Andrew may just charge more? Or these are 2 different movements? I think I'm set to the 111H but I don't want to overpay (!)... I need to get rich so I can affort a nicer rep, maybe with the swiss movt ?!?.
  13. Another question...I hear these movements may need servicing...can any watch repair place do this?
  14. Thanks, that's another thing, I need one with a solid case back... the see through ones, I don't know, they just look strange. Do any of these 104, 11g and 111 have solid casebacks? Do these vary between sellers?
  15. Thanks, I'll take a look. So far these prices look way lower than Andrew's... Hmmm, are these the same quality?
  16. Hi, I'm new to rep collecting and I'm trying to decide on a PAM from Andrew. I already made another purchase from him and I read his reviews but if you have other suggestions, I'm all ears. It's all a bit new to me so I don't know the 1st thing about the movements and if I want a manual or automatic one - I did read a guide on movements so I know the new Asian 7750 is better than the old one but that's about it. I just don't want to make a mistake with a movement that's not quartz. Regarding the watch appearance, I know you all must have more experience than me and can probably spot the flaws right away. So please help! My limitations are: Price - less than $200 Dial color - black Size - 44mm (base, marina, marina automatic) Bracelet - not important, will replace AR coating - nice to have I identified a few ... if you don't want to go through all of them I understand...
