  1. I have my eyes now on this strap.. If i haven't bought so many straps the last days i would have grabbed it in a second.... :)

    Only 55$ shipped and paypaled

    @Veni,

    That is the aged buffalo strap by Molina that I have shown on my 111 and on my wrist right now. I couldn't recommmend this strap more. Well made and excellent value for the money. Very soft and comfortable despite the 4mm thickness.

  2. I know.. but mine trust me.. was MUCH MUCH more cheaper but with a lot of effort :D

    Although I believe with the logo buckle (DON has a plain one) the market value of my strap is more than 250$ :whistling:

    I would guess more. This is an one only and unique item. Somebody will probably pay more for it.

    Veni, maybe you can start your own line of straps so we all can benefit from it. LOL.

  3. They look OK to me. Can you be so kind to point out where the differences are..?

    I am more concern about that they may fall off the bezel.

    4th version - nice to have a 7750 but the bezel letters are still wrong. C'mon Eddie whats going on here. In your post saying it was on the way you mention it having the correct bezel font, but it aint!!!
  4. Keep practicing!

    just kidding....

    nice photos!

    Thanks. I do think I need more practice.

    @Dave,

    It is a Molina strap. Very soft and comfortable despite the thickness. Excellect value IMO. I also got the vintage tan calf which I haven't had a chance to try on yet.

    Cheers,

  5. Got back yesterday. Had a great time. Had a bit of time to watch hunt and here's what I found:

    Panerai-Out of favor. Didn't see anyone wearing one (except one American tourist).

    Was treated with respect by jewelers while wearing my 196 and here's what I tried on:

    Anonimo: Panerai style watch that comes from ex-Panerai designers. Sharp. Cool crown guard mech. Reasonably priced

    Hublot Big Bang: Big joke. Ugly and overpriced for a ss watch.

    Omega Planet Ocean: Got to get a gen of the 45mm since I sold my gen SMP. Gorgeous and reasonably priced.

    AP Royal Oaks: Didn't like them one bit. I know they're nice watches, but they feel like they lack substance. I tried on a brand new model with a Calibre movement.

    IWC Spitfire: Great face

    My two favorite watches by far:

    Frank Muller Conquistador-White gold, curved crystal, black rubber strap scented with vanilla (I'm not kidding). Fit my wrist like a glove. Gorgeous

    Jaeger LeCoultre Master Grand Reveil- Pink gold. WOW. If money was no object it would be the watch for me. $30,000 retail.

    I was there last summer and all the Pannies I saw was from the street venders.

    Cheers,

  6. Is River selling a strap or the watch? That watch would have a Sinn modified 7750 Valjoux movt. and they run in the $1000+ range. The Asian 7750 movt has subdials at 3, 6 & 9, whereas the Swiss 7750 has them at 6, 9, & 12. Swiss is 28800bph and Asian is 21600bph. An Asian with subdials at 6, 9, and 12 would be a new invention- but maybe it's in the works!

    The Sinn on River's pic has the Lemania 5100 chrono movement. Not 100% sure, but I think it is a genuine.

    It has the running small second at 9, center chrono second and 60 min. register, and 12 hour small register at 6. The small register at 12 is the 24 hour indicator.

  7. Thanks, Nanug,

    So, in other words, the WSD is the production model after the DRSD and are not as rare..?

    @Tutima

    The WSD is the baseline 1665. It lacks the red "SUBMARINER 2000" text of the DRSD, and simply has the line "SEA-DWELLER" in white.

    Much like the standard Red Submariner with its red text, the SRSD has red text for the words SEA-DWELLER.

    The standard Submariner and standard Sea-dweller have white text on their dials for those identifying lines.

  8. Hi, Ubi,

    Can you elaborate a little bit more about the White SD please.

    Much appriciated.

    If you are going to get a 1665 replica, you're best off buying a DRSD or all white SD. The Single Red (SRSD) is a very unique piece, and is quite different from the 1665 that we all know today. The SRSD was the very first Sea Dweller to exist, debuting in 1967. The first two prototypes used Submariner cases, and lacked the Helium Escape Valve. The He Valve made it's debut on the Submariner 5514, which was issued to COMEX divers only. The use of the He Valve proved to be very beneficial to the deep sea divers, and became a feature on the 1665's (which still had the SRSD dial and still used Submariner cases). The SRSD dial is also unique in that the depth was signed 500M = 1650FT. After initial testing, and a change to the thicker 1665 case, the dial was changed to the DRSD dial with even greater depth ratings signed; 2000ft = 610m. With the initial run of DRSD pieces, the caseback is signed 'Patent Pending', as the patent for the He Valve was still pending approval. As such is the case it is clear to see that the initial batch of Sub cased SRSD's was very limited; these initial 1665's were issued to divers for testing, and over the testing procedure of analysis and servicing, many dials were subsequently replaced with the DRSD dial (along with tubes, crowns, etc.). With this in mind, it is easy to see that the SRSD is a very rare piece indeed.

    Now, getting back to the SRSD rep- Since these watches used a slimmer Submariner case, the replica is simply too thick as it uses the standard 1665 case. Granted, there won't be too many people out there who will even know what a SRSD is, let alone a 1665, but if you're after accuracy, I would suggest the DRSD or the WSD over the SRSD any day of the week.
