The Engraving
This is where the wheels fall of the wagon on my rep. The engraving is accurate but is no where near deep enough. Looking at is straight on, you can barely see it. For me, it's a dead give away. Also, the metal was not very well made and had visible pitting and not very clean. This is probably the worst part of the watch. Remedy? Don't let anyone see that part smile.gif
No, I can't agree. This is the only somehow remediable flaw on the GMT IIc:

It seems to me that something similar already existed:

It isn't identical, but the principle remains the same

Grazie,
sei italiano anche tu? Appssionato di orologi? Hai mai acquistato da qualche venditore qui?
Grazie per il prezioso consiglio. Mi sono appena iscritto e il mio inglese non e' un gran che...
Ciao.
Forse, dire "Appassionato di orologi"

Nobody has managed to reproduce the correct AR effect until now. It looks gen to me.

Vacheron Constantin Patrimony silver dial?
Beautiful watch, but bad rep...

Sorry to hear that your beautiful country is going through such a terrible time, and so many have lost so much, even their lives; but glad to hear that you, your friends and your related are well.
I sympathize with you, still aware that words are useless

Is there any way to tell if it's a 28k8 or 21k6 ? I can make some pictures if needed. Since i am a newbee i have no idea what C1 is...
The easiest way is starting the cronograph and counting the ticks of the second hand between two minute markers. Three ticks = 21600; four ticks= 28800.
-
I have also done some reading and it appears that the older models DIDN'T have adjustable hands...which is really weird since it seems to defeat the purpose of a fixed 24-hour bezel.
I read somewhere that indicating the AM/PM was the original purpose of the 24h hand of the Explorer II; the watch was meant for speleologists that could lose the notion of time, so they couldn't tell if it was morning or evening. To such an intent, a non-adjustable hand makes sense. It isn't a GMT hand

It's not even a good rep! The crown guards are atrocious
I'd extend such an "atrocity" concept to the bezel insert, the dial, the bracelet...
-
The seller doesn't pretend it's a gen. He clearly hints it's a rep.
-
Funny...got a spelling error on "manufacturers" though.
I realized it, but I couldn't edit my post...
This is the correct veriosn:

+1000. Especially the ones who are worried about markings on lugs that will never be seen. They are planning on doing something to somebody for some reason.
When I was a little boy I would build plastic models (planes, cars).
Once I built a Lockeed F-104 Starfighter, 1:32 scale, that included the engine too. You had to assemble and paint the engine parts. Then, the engine was put inside the fuselage, where it couldn't be seen.
Another time, I assembled a Formula 1. The kit included some decals to be applied on the shock absorbers, hidden inside the body.
A reproduction is a reproduction; and the accuracy isn't questionable.
If someone wanted to cheat, could he count on the markers between the lugs?
As you say, they cannot be seen; so how could he count on them?
On the other side, if someone can remove the bracelet, in the same way he can check the movement or other parts
For my part, I don't think ill of anyone.

Rep...
+1
Wrong bezel insert.
Hour markers too thin

Thanks for sharing Scoobs.
This:

is a real video about reassembling the movement. As far as you know, does a similar video exist for the 2892?

... Any ideas of how to fabricate one?
The only idea that occurs to me is a 0.08 E guitar string. But you need to know the exact size of the spring in order to cut a correct size piece, and the exact angle to bend it.
Hope it helps...

I asked PT about the possibility of exchanging the inner part of the deployment of the GMTIIc bracelet, due to the bad engraving, for the DSSD one. PT replied that it's impossible because the size is different. If so, it probably applies to other bracelets too. Maybe you should change the whole bracelet

The bracelet needs sanding and oiling; this will markedly improve its feel.
Here:
http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=86133
there is a tutorial about filiing the edges (just in case you didn't already know it).
I used a simple sheet of fine-grained (800 grit) sandpaper, then I re-polished the midlinks.
For oiling the bracelet, if you can bear the ironical smiles of the druggist, vaseline is IMHO the best solution, since it's colourless, odourless and viscous. The bracelet won't need an aggressive washing after the soak, and the effect will last longer.
Anyway, the bracelet cannot exactly feel as a gen because in the gen bracelet there are bushings interposed between the link housing and the pin. It seems that the WM9 YM bracelet is crafted in this way
As regards the AR treatment on the loupe, I think that there is no solution; read this:
http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=88304
The engraving on the clasp can be coloured, but since the grooves aren't clean or deep, the result won't be satisfying; this:
is the best result I have achieved.
The engraving on the clasp od the DSSD is by far better than this; I asked PT for a DSSD as spare part, and he replied that the size is different.
The colour of the numbers on the bezel is no concern of the "Ultimate" version, in my opinion; it can be an issue regarding the "sandiwich" bezel insert. On the PT website there is a comparative picture, and the bezels look quite similar.
Hope it helps

When I wear a watch, no matter if it's a rep or a gen, and someone notices it and compliments me on it, I say that it's a rep before he/she asks about; this is whether I'm wearing a rep or a gen.
Usually, people think I'm lying, guessing that my watch surely is a gen, and I'm trying to foolish them. If I'm wearing a gen they guess right
Well, I know that it's a tortuous way to treat the question...
-
glad to hear that you'll live to be a hundred
When I went down for surgery they took my stuff to lock in the safe and asked for my watch. I said I didn't care if it was against the rules, I'm wearing it in.should it (unfortunately) happen again, you can always say that separating from your watch would increase your heart rate...

I think the same thing, my experience with WM9 was bad, banned several times since his false forum because I've asked some details and put pics, insulted by email, threatened complaint through my IP address to my ISP. For me George simply does not exist. I'm happy that there are respectable dealers like bklm1234 or PT here who can get this reps without I've dealings with George.
This is another much-debated question. George usually behaves in a kind and polite way. Maybe he not always tells the truth, but the behaviour is often impeccable. Every now and then he comes out with some really odd things. I hope he'll revise this strange attitude after this event.
@involt: I can understand your passion. I apologize for calling your study stupid. Don't give up the fight, the need for truth. You might do some harm and some good in the short term but you are helping in the long run. I'm too mellow, practical, and jaded to do the same.BTW, George said he would do a v2 TT sub in about 2 months. He probably will say 18k wrapped gold now, or..........NOT. LOL. But seriously, I'm happy it's back because nobody else does it better.

The big thing is that we have cleared up the air, setting the record straight. I've cleared up the misunderstanding with George too; I hope he will send me the "missing watch" as soon as possible.
This won't turn the brass into gold, but it is of no importance: the issue wasn't the real composition of the bracelet
If a good thing follows this event, I'll be glad
In the same way, if a good thing results from our dispute, I'll be glad.
Both you and I will have been useful to community.
I certainly accept your apologies, and I thank you for this.
Peace

With black modeller's enamel, enamel solvent and an ear cotton tip.
Spread a thin enamel layer on the engravings, then gently wipe it with the soaked cotton tip. Don't exert any pressure; in this way, the enamel won't be removed from the grooves
