  1. One good rule of thumb for the "well turned out" is that your watch should be equal to about 3x your suit. Lots of people get a great watch and an off-the-rack suit; common but not well matched.

If your best suit retails for $600 to $1000, then a low end Rollie or average Omega will match and speak well of your taste and "means"

If you are wearing Armani for $2-3K, Day Date (precious metal) Rolex or Daytona.

If you are wearing Brioni, Zegna etc for $5-6K and up, F'em wear a Timex, Swatch or whatever you want. Just make sure the shoes and tie measure up. There are no reps in the high end suit, shoes, and tie game

And remember, Panerai is always perfect.

  2. Ziggy (have to go formal rather than "RG" since I don't know you).

Thanks once again for your time and for your willingness to share your knowledge and insights.

I make it a point to reread your tutorials every month; I pick up something new/valuable each time.

  3. Morlock,

To be honest I only read this review because I liked the Breitling Colt review so much!

This is also excellently done and also has great photos.

And again to be honest, this review has whetted my appetite for this particular watch. ( Officially putting you on my wife's shitlist ).

Keep up the great work and submit whenever you can; I'll be watching and waiting.

  4. Morlock,

Haven't written any reviews myself (I read a lot though ) but if I did, I would be pleased if I did half as well as yours.

Great analysis and review and excellent photos.

I'm still hooked on larger watches (my gen 39mm YM gets little or no wristtime) but this review reminds me how nice this size is.

Bravo and well done! Keep 'em coming

  5. Great pictorial By-Tor; as always.

I bought this watch as my first purchase from Andrew. I have had this one up beside a gen several times; to my newbie eyes even with loupes I can find no differences other than the DW.

It wears very well and more comfortably than many of my smaller watches. The AR on mine appears excellent. The power reserve is excellent. My only complaint is that the crown is wobly and setting the minute hand exactly takes a couple tries. Definately one of my favourites -daily beater type.

  6. Welcome to the forum and community.

Personnally been here only 5 months and still don't have the watch that I came for.

But I'm having a great time and now own a ton of watches that I like better than "the grail"

Read, read, read and you'll have the answer that you came for, mainly as a side issue.

  7. You may not see the difference, you may not even feel the difference, but for the right watch you will appreciate the difference.

After just getting into reps I know that atleast one of my favorites will be replaced with a gen. (I agree with the test drive idea)

And I'm probably going to replace my Gen Rolex with 2 Gen Omegas/Breitlings (and use the extra cash for a couple new reps).

  8. I was a wearer previously, 6 gens that I rotated based on the occasion and company.

Once I got here I became a nutjob, excuse me - collector.

I really enjoy buying watches that I previously drooled over and others that I never considered before - Thanks RWG -(bought about 20 reps in four months).

Now I'm more selective, more aware and more discriminating. I have begun selling off those that don't turn me on or giving them away as gifts.

And unfortunately obsessing over which to add to my collection.

After reading the prior posts I hope that I will be going back to wearer following By-Tor's 8 watch rule.
