  1. Hi all. Being relatively new to this game, I have acquired about 10 reps in the last 3 months. 90% of them being A7750 28.8K movements. So far, they have been pretty good except for 2 watches. 1. Tag Carrera. This one I bought for a friend and basically checked it to work when I first received it. It worked fine for about 5 days but then died on the winder. I never really wore the watch as it was for someone else. 2. AP ROO Seconds at 12. Thus far this is actually my favourite watch. However, the movement is giving me problems. I know the seconds at 12 makes it more at risk of failure. However, I found it odd the the 2 watches that I did not wear much have given me problems. They basically do work... except they tend to stop during the day. Any advice on what is the best way to look after these movements? I was told that the AP ROO should not be kept on a winder... My other 8 reps do not give me any problems at all.. mostly Chrono watches. Skyland V2, PAM 250, Graham Chronofighter Oversized, PAM 252, Brietling SA, Hublot Big Bang, PAM 253 and Corum AC Comp. These watches have seen quite a bit of wrist time and even if I let them run flat (only have winder space for 4) they have no problems starting up and running again. Any advice here would be appreciated. Also, for all you guys in Oz.. a good watchsmith who is good with 7750s would be great as I have 2 wacthes that need to be looked at.
  2. Thanks guys for all the answers I have been reading that if I wanted the A7750 to have any life in it... I should play around with the chrono. I guess if The Zigmeister says its okay... then But for now... I will have to live with the sunken wheel until I can find a 7753 based 250 or 196. I've seen a few get sold recently here.. so will keep my eyes peeled for the next one. Thanks again guys....
  3. Hi All... I can't seem to find a topic like this being discussed before.. So far with all the posts that I have read, the 7750 case/dial/bezel are closer to gen than the 7753 version. However, to me.. the biggest thing that bugs me with the 7750 250 is the sunken datewheel... It just bugs the *&^% out of me. I've been thinking about all the ways that I could possibly fix this. 1. install 7753 movement... however these movements are rare and the easiest way would be to buy a 7753 based 250 and use the movement from there. 2. Modified Datewheel..... however there are gears above the datewheel which is why the datewheel is sunken in the first place. I was wondering this.. Is it possible to disable the minute counter at 3 and hence remove the plates/gears.. and as a result move the datewheel closes to the dial? I figure... I just about never use the chrono... if anything.. just when I am bored and want to play with the watch... furthermore.. we really shoudn't be using it on the A 7750s anyway. Has anyone tried this? And does it fix the sunken datewheel problem. Thanks in advance.

    7753

Damn. I was just about to post a similar message as I really wanted to pick up 2 of them. One for a Hublot Big Bang and the other for a PAM 250 which I know a 7753 will fit. I did find a site that does have a hublot with a 7753 in it. Not sure if it is gen.. but the datewheel definately looks better than my 7750 version of it. Should one be able to source a 7753... what would the approximate cost be. Would it be better then to just buy the 7753 PAM 250? John
  5. HI all. I have truly been bitten by the panerai bug. I started out with the PAM 252 North Pole and it was nice and all but it didn't really do it for me. But when the 250 arrived yesterday, I must say that I am well and truly sucked in now. I going to order a 127 Fiddy, 196 and 111H to add to this panerai madness I do however have one question. With Lello in retirement, what options do we have to fix the sunken datewheel on the 250 and 196? I really like the watches and that would really finish it off for me. I know there are many other "flaws" but the sunken datewheel really bothers me. Now I gotta go strap hunting.
  6. Having just got one of these beautiful replicas, I was wondering if anyone has try changing the A7750 for an ETA or 7753? Also, is there any way to fix the sunken datewheel? It is such a beautiful watch and with these modifications will definately become a long time favourite for me.
  7. 160 is definately for an Asian Unitas. There used to be one for 298 which is swiss.. but can't seem to find those anymore. Is the chinese copy okay as a movement?
  8. Damn.... I guess being a replica... its never going to be as good... But 160 dollars for a good watch with an exploding crystal.... I think I could live with that... Thanks for the info
  9. Hi All, I've been reading up a bit about issues with 7750s with seconds at 6. Does the Manual Unitas movement have the same reliability issues? Its such a beautiful watch but I don't want to get a ticking timebomb I did a search and didn't really come up with anything. Thanks
  10. I've just recently been well and truly bitten by the Panerai Bug. just got my 252 a couple of days ago and now am looking for more. I love the look of the 127 but am just not sure of the size. Has anyone actually measured the watch in terms of complete dimensions? I can comfortable wear a 46mm navitimer so 47 should be okay. But am not sure about the crown guard.
  11. Another Quick question about the PAM. Is it normal for the lever to look like the attached picture? It looks like it has been filed down. Shouldn't the end be rounded? Thanks
  12. HI All... The first of my good quality reps arrived today from Andrew. Purchased on Sunday 26th July and Arrived in Sydney Australia today 1/8 .. Very fast shipping.. Extremely impressed. Up to now, I have only had the cheap knock offs from the secret rooms from Phuket and this is the first quality rep that I have purchased. So far, i must say... it has exceeded my expectations. The look and feel of the watch are great and unless its next to a gen, it would be very hard to tell (not that I have seen a Gen 252) I have included some quick pics i took. I did have one question about the crown guard and whether there is a tutorial on how to file it down so that it fits better. I have tried a search but haven't come up with anything. Any help will be great. Those of you in Oz, if you could provide a good watchsmith in Sydney who can service the 7750 movement it would be greatly appreciated. Very excited.. Have a Hublot Big bang on the way too... so my collection will growing very quickly after this initial purchase.
  13. Thanks to all for your warm welcome I am sure however, my replicas are definately not MBKs. From what I have read here, there are very high end pieces. I bought a Rolex Daytona with no running subdials... looks pretty good and feels good.. but can't really pass as it has a moving 2nd hand (no not the seconds subdial) I also got a Franck Muller fantasy watch... that sounds hollow when you shake it and the rotor is moving... Currently doing my research as to be best first Quality rep to get into. I have always owned gens until now and with the choice available to me in Reps... I don't know if I will ever buy another Gen again.
  14. Hi, I am new here and have only been exposed to the cheap Thailand knock offs until now. Digesting soo much information and really overwhelmed by the amount of choice available.... Great Forum!!!!!
