Actually came across this thread searching for a 'Topic' where members post home vids of musicianship. After 20+ pages of Search Keyword Music/Guitar/Video, I came across a few quick links to '2005SUBMARINER', a lot aof allusions to "I will, or I was gonna"..............a couple of dead end and broken links to 'jonthebhoy' (whatever happened to him?) and a few luthiers but? phoband? Anyone? a link? Gratsi.........................

Anyhoo, I got a "Flip Video" recorder for Xmas, the type where a USB connector extends and you can upload direct to YouTube? I am having fun with it, and dusted off my kit. Hmmmm, I'm losing my chops. Never get old kids. It just dates you...................here's a one take dirty cut after a day of run throughs. Lord, there was actually rust on the strings! Not good.

    Iron Maiden rocks Demsey.

  2. Sam...point is, we are a community and we should keep our dirty laundry in house...end of story. It's not the money, or the lack of communication that should matter. As everyone else has said, paypal disputes impact the dealer and then other dealers and then the entire community.

Never paypal any amount of moeny that you are not prepared to lose! That is an unfortunate part of the game we all play. If you get hosed or think you are getting hosed...bring it to the community -- not paypal!

    (@neil...kisses sweetie :) )

  3. Thanks for the help, Pugwash. You sound like a lot of things.

After reading your posts and interactions with many memebers of this forum, I have concluded that you are simply and unquestionably a complete [censored]. (I'm sure I violated a forum rule, by calling you an [censored] (which you most certainly are!) so I will accept my punishment accordingly...[censored]!.) Good day...[censored]!

  4. I disagree. IMO this website and others like it should provide as honest an environment for buying reps as possible, and I do not believe that it is in anyone's interest to make newbies engage in some kind of trial by fire before they can buy with confidence from our dealers.

I also do not believe that language barrier defense is legitimate in fact. I would note that the dealers who are most fluent in English on this site most often use terms like best, perfect and ultimate and are also responsible for calling glass sapphire, etc. I have never seen any indication that Neil, EL, River, Joshua, PT and Andrew are anything other than highly proficient or fluent in English, and it's frankly an insult to their intelligence and ours to suggest now that they barely know how to string sentences together. Besides, THESE SAME GUYS were calling their reps things like "90-95%" before the recent war of hyperbole, am I really supposed to think that they suddenly all unlearned their English? Please. Actually, it's the dealers who seem to be less fluent who are less hyperbolic. For example, Paul is honest enough to call his Sub the "so-called ultimate sub."

And if you must make language an issue, there are many more English-challenged members than there are dealers. But some people are so paranoid about guarding their supply (and therefore kissing dealer ass as if that really makes a difference) that they could care less about their fellow members and their needs. Is that why we have a community of rep enthusiasts here?

I think the war of words should stop, and dealers should let their products speak for themselves. People say it doesn't matter if dealers use terms like 1:1 or perfect because most people understand that's not true. But if that's the case, why wouldn't it be even better to leave those things unsaid? No one has explained that to my satisfaction.

I agree "best" is best. Easy to understand, not misleading (assuming true), dealer makes his point.

    So true... Very good points.

(and to clarify, I did not (and do not) take issue with dealers selling modded/serviced watches. That is great IMO because we dont have to waste time and money sending the watch out later.)

But there is a big distinction between "best" and "perfect".

"perfect" has one meaning...and one meaning only. And quite frankly, it is a meaning that will never be realized in this industry.

  5. I joined to see it... (I dont regret joining, but am wondering how I willl have time for 4 forums, lol). And after seeing it...to be perfectly honest...I cant say that I "love" it. But kudos to all you who put time into it and who thought outside the box to come up with a uniques black and red dial that represents your forum.

For everyday life, i.e., work, I will stick to my reps and my RWG watch....but the RWI watch certainly catches the eye...

  6. I disagree...just my opinion, but an opinion nonetheless. Granted, none of the more active members who have been around for more than a couple weeks will be persuaded by the term "perfect", but with the influx of newbs who come here on a daily basis thinking they have found the place where advertising will be upfront, the term "perfect" is misleading.

Aside from that, I would think dealers would refrain from saying "perfect" because the anal WIS will quickly go through and show each and every reason/flaw why the rep is in fact not "perfect". Counterproductive advertising to a point...

I do not doubt the integrity of any of our dealers (even Neil). I just happen to thinik that "perfect" is over reaching. And I certianly do not think that so-called language barriers are the issue. Our dealers know darn well what the word "perfect" means to a forum filled with anal-retentive rep experts...and they should know what the term "perfect" means to a bunch of rolex-hungry and crazed newbs.

  7. Wow, where to begin. So many...so little bandwidth. I have had alot of crap, but mostly from when I was new. I have knowlingly bought many fanatasy models because I liked the way they looked...so I wont count them. Worst by far (for me) was a shitty panerai power reserve that was brass with very thin SS coating. I saw pink metal all around the case upon dleivery. The crown was razor thin. The date background was white. The power reserve was in worng spot. Just bad all around. But the fact that it was advertised as SS really pisses me off.

  8. There is no perfect sub (other than the one sold by rolex), nor is there any perfect rep...period. And I think our dealers should know better than to make that claim...especially on these forums. Several dealers seem to be using words such as "perfect" lately. Horseshit.

  9. I think mine actually has a navy blue dial...I ordered black and EL is pretty sure he sent black...heck my wife thinks it is black too...but I am pretty sure it is blue. I like it regardless...but may consider a different color strap now. For anyone ordering a blue GT, the color of the blue is very dark...
