  1. I have a couple of cheapie quartz chrono reps. As long as you don't get all precious about the accuracy of these cheaper models, then they can be fun to wear. AND they give you a great big bang for your buck. Good choice.....enjoy!
  2. Wow CV! Those are two 'in yer face' watches. Enjoy, and wear them well!
  3. Guys, have I missed something here? Does this AngelaB on ioffer have a version with the correct HE valve placement? Oh, and BTW, great looking SM, Francisco. Good job!
  4. Superb work, Bertieng. I have been a fan of the 1655 for some time now. I wish I had the funds (and patience) to track down pieces for my own franken project. One day maybe! Again, congrats on your fantastic piece.
  5. I bought one a while back. You can see some of my pics here. Mrs Slartibartfast lost this model. I ordered a replacement two tone from Narikaa. She loves this one even more!
  6. I like this..... a lot surprisingly. But not the price tag, which is bonkers! Can't imagine how complex the movement must be!
  7. Great write up. It will give confidence to many who wanted to have a go at this mod. Great stuff!
  8. How would ou like your eggs Sir? Sunny side up? Might look better with a black bezel. But, as is...... nope, doesn't ring my bell.
  9. That's one shiny case. Modding can be fun to try. Hope you are pleased with the resuts.
  10. Fancied a complete change today! BIG watch. Got quite a presence on the wrist.
  11. Love these pilots. That's about the size of a frying pan! Wow!
  12. That is a masterpiece. I love the coin edge bezel. Dial and hands, as said before, are beautiful. I am green with envy. One day....one day I may be as fortunate as you!
  13. I have felt this way before from time to time. Although there is truth in what you say, I am sure your feelings will pass. This is a hobby after all, and there is nothing wrong in putting it on the back burner for a while, to pick it up later. I also miss some of the old established names that used to post here. However I am happy to see the next generation of knowledgeable and informative members stepping up to the plate. As for inane newbie questions..... don't read them!
  14. Excellent piece Robbie. I am a fan of the less dressy rollies. Your photography skills are brilliant too, well worthy of being used in a DJ catalogue!
  15. If I like the look of a watch I will generally take a leap and buy one. I am no purist, but on the whole have been happy with the purchases made, even though I am well aware of most of their flaws. I have 14 in my collection so far, and all get regular outings (all except one that is ). And, I love tearing them apart to see how they are put together. It's fun trying your hand at modding too.
  16. You have excellent taste. Some very nice pieces there. All keepers no doubt!
  17. Ha! so it's not just me PP. Thank you my friend for sharing your equally crap experiences, this honesty will help to forewarn others here. And, yes...I am also after a used gen. I agree that it is the only way to go to get one of these future classics! You bet pokerpot.... perhaps I can take the hit on one of these so that the forum members here can learn. Stay away from Aerospace reps!
  18. freddy..........can't wait to see this when complete. You have opened my eyes to so many great vintage Rollie's over the past few months! Your collection is one to be envied for sure!
  19. Here's a shot of mine un-modded And after some 'tinkering' It seems that this classic is gaining in popularity over the last year or so. Can't say I am surprised.
  20. Sorry to thread crap, but just read andreww's review from last year. Brilliant reference material Congrats! @xslyyx..... hope you took the time to read the review by andreww, it's a goldmine of info. This Breitling is growing on me. I just may need to look one out myself!
  21. Any pics, my friend? Does it have the inverted digital displays?
  22. Yeah, you might think you only want a sub. But that's just the beginning my friend......just the beginning!!! Good luck in your search PS Use the search button, and read, read, read.
  23. I have re-lumed the markers with a slightly yellower coloured lume, and sprayed the dial with Humbrol matt varnish. That works quite well IMO.
