  1. Hey here is that thread: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=72727 It's a must read if you like this watch. Good luck, and let us know what you decide to go for.
  2. Hey thanks for the heads up. I'm very sorry about what happened to you. Royal Mail is indeed like US Mail in the UK... I can completely understand how you fell for it... Hope you can find the people responsible and recover your money.
  3. Probably closer to $20k than $10k, actually... But really, even if they're worth that much, what could he possibly do with a bunch of knock-offs and crystals? The main distribution channel for these things would be our forums, but obviously it would be too stupid to try selling them there. I really can't think of ways he could realise all that value quickly and without getting caught. I agree that something serious must have happened and it will take time for him to sort things out. But I'm sure everyone would be happy to get their stuff back with no mods, and even pay extra for postage if needed. Jakub could and should have asked us to help, instead of just disappearing and trying to deal with this on his own. And I'm sure we would have all agreed to help him in any way possible. I think a possible solution right now would be to have someone trusted in Warsaw hook up with J and give him a hand sorting through the mess, and starting sending stuff back to their owners. That trusted person could receive some funds for postage from us, e.g. in a PayPal account. And if everyone who has items with J puts in a few extra bucks on top of the postage costs, we could even pay that person a small "salary" for helping us out. Frankly, I'd rather spend 20 bucks or so and get my things back, than doing nothing. Of course, first we need to find that trusted person in Warsaw who could devote some time to this. Sql, maybe you have some good contacts? Second, that person will need to actually find J and offer to help. And J will have to accept that help. The alternative would be to get a professional contractor in Warsaw to do this for us... but it would be more expensive. This is a long shot, but it's a first practical idea to get something done...
  4. Horologie, your posts here are just plain pointless. I really don't understand why you bother with this "I could have told you so" stuff. So please refrain from offending people, embarassing yourself, and implying we're idiots for dealing with J. None of these things are either good nor useful. Now, back to the topic. I gave J a call yesterday and for the first time his phone didn't go to answering machine right away. But unfortunately it just kept ringing out and he didn't pick up. I guess at least it's a sign he's alive and switching his phone on!!! Sql, let us know how you go with your contacts in Warsaw. I think it would be great if someone could have a word to J and get a feel for when (or if!) he plans to get back to work.
  5. Scotty Pam 250 - Swiss 7753 + Lello datewheel + spare 2507750 case set for a bezel change. All confirmed as received by Jakub mid June, and has been due for sending back 3 times now.....last communication from him was 19/8, but it was an e.mail with a cut and paste from someone else, so not actually a personally typed response... 6. Guys, I think if we do it this way it's going to be messy. I suggest we let the admin decide how to proceed. Ideally it would be nice to have one person to whom we can PM or email our list of items. Then that person can compile the final list and hold it until things are resolved or until the list is needed. By the way, a group-buy of crystals wouldn't work for me. I have 4 whole watches with him, one crystal plus case, and some parts. Oh dear... Admin and mods: can you please let us know your thoughts on this list idea? And as I said before, this should be done on RWI and RG too.
  7. I think starting to compile a list of who has what with him is a good starting point (in case we need to escalate this to someone over there who can go and sort things out, or just in case J needs a friendly reminder of who's expecting what). I wonder whether admin here could appoint someone in their team to collect and hold this information. The info to collect might include the member's name and email, what they hold with Jakub, since when, and what jobs were expected. I guess later on members should also be prepared to provide some evidence to that effect, if needed (e.g., email communication with Jakub or postal receipts, etc). This effort should also be coordinated with admin in the other forums. I think it would be a first and important step to have such list ready. As I said, at the simplest level it may just help Jakub start sorting through the pile of watches and parts he must have over there without going through his huge backlog of emails. If he's struggling, there's certainly nothing wrong with giving him a hand. RWG admin and mods: would you agree that starting a list is a good idea? If so, how do you think we should proceed?
  8. Who's this guy who had probs with J before? Never heard about that... Could be helpful having a word with him.
  9. Ok, I do agree with everything you guys are saying. But it seems to me that all we end up doing is waiting and waiting.... And hoping that he'll make contact or that something happens... Are we still going to have this discussion in a month's time? I have had a lot of stuff with him for months. I know others here have just as much with him and for longer than me. All up, this guy has tens of thousands of dollars worth of other people's stuff. I'm not quite sure what he could do with it, but I do know that I'd like it back. Preferably soon, not in nine months time. I don't question that he must be going through something serious, and I sympathise, but that doesn't change the fact that I would like my things back. So is there anything at all that we can proactively do? We have his name and contact details... Surely that's a starting point... Any ideas??
  10. The section was probably removed to avoid members thinking he's still doing business as usual. Understandable. I'm sure it'll reappear if and when things go back to normal. On a different note, I was wondering: 1. Does anyone have any info about the watchmaker who does work for him? 2. Are there any members in Warsaw or nearby who could pay Jakub a visit? 3. Does Jakub have any mates at all here that keep in touch with him, talk to him, etc? Anyone at all knows this guy personally? My girlfriend suggests we shoould all chip in a few bucks and get a local PI to look into this. Hell, I've got stuff worth enough money with this guy that this doesn't sound like a such a stupid idea after all!!!
  11. I think we are all being reasonable, and the huge thread with condolences is testament to that. While being sympathetic to his loss, we are also asking for a little more regularity and detail in his updates. These could come as group updates here, not necessarily as individual replies. How long would that take? 30 seconds a week? Most people with jobs have to deal with the ups and downs of life, but we don't have the luxury to take months off work. I know that if I did I'd probably get fired. Don't get me wrong. We are all so extremely sorry for what he's going through, which must obviously be very serious, since he strikes me as an honest guy who wouldn't otherwise let his business go down the drain like this. I don't think we are trivialising what he's going through by asking about our crystals, as we are only really asking for 0.0049% of his time.
  12. Nothing here either, and I emailed him after two months, begging him for a mere "relax, it's all ok". Incidentally I just saw an ad for cheap flights to Poland from Europe... Like ten bucks or something, return... Any Europeans here who want to meet up in Warsaw, eat some real perogi, and go get our watches and crystals back?
  13. LOL - I have 5 with him! No wonder we'll all have to wait a while... They guy is busier than a one-legged man in an ar#e-kicking contest!!
  14. This happens to me every time. It says that for a couple of days and then it's sent off to the depot and then on to me. Nothing to worry about. Out of interest, you can also compare different tracking info between the ems and the parcelforce site. Check on both with the same number and you'll get slightly different wording.
  15. Pumpkin for me! Nicereplica is good. You can buy safely from her.
  16. I have a PAM250 chrono and have been suggested to get a lello date wheel for it. How do I get one? (as you can tell, I'm new to all this modding stuff) Thanks
  17. Still don't know how it's going to feel though... That's my main concern. And actually, we really still don't know for sure about the tickness of the thing. It's still all rumours until someone actually sees it.
  18. Great!! Thanks Really curious about the thickness...
  19. Yes, would love to see pics too, and get your first impression. Thanks.
