  1. you mean the retaining ring is too tight to fit down completely?   sand the inner diameter of the ring, about 10 rotations with 400grit should get it and still keep it water tight
    I mean the inner diameter of the crystal is too small to fit over the case. .008" Interference seems too much?
  2. Another issue, The Clarke tropic 19 is about .008" smaller than the case diameter. I'm worried it will crack if I try to press it on. Next option would be to freeze the case and warm the crystal to attempt a shrink fit. Anybody attempted to polish the case? The case is the coveted mbw that i picked up from Eurotime a couple years back. I want to keep it water resistant. Thanks,

  3. Well, you could always remove the dial feet and make ingod's dial work with your 2846. That's by far your best option and exactly what many others have done, myself included.
    how to secure the dial to movement? Adhesive presumably, I am having a difficult time finding details.

    Any issues finding a set of hands with a matching lume for the ingod dial? I'm thinking the Yuki meters first will be ok as it comes with hands and free shipping.
  5. Don't know about the case and if it is gen spec or not, but Yuki has the 5513 dial with eta feet that would work well with the 2846.
    I just got a note back from Ingod44 confirming his dials are not ETA compatible. So I guess that's a decision made!
  6. You realize nothing will fit flush, I hope. Military bars are welded in and then polished on the outside- you'd just need to get another case, unless you're a welder.

    Gen springbars are available on the bay:

    There's also the aftermarket bars out of Hong Kong, etc. for a little less- timeholder comes to mind as a seller of these.

    :confused:

    I love the wording on that auction "Genuine" in the title followed by "After market" in the description......HMMMmmmmm.

  7. Does anyone know whats the purpose of throwing the cases into that water bath with the "rocks" in it

    It is called tumbling and is used to deburr stampings prior to polishing, otherwise the burrs will tear up the buffing wheels.

  8. That's an ETA 2472, a google search should find any info you need.

    Hey thanks!

    any ideas if this is compatible with 28xx dials and hands?

    at the very least I can use it to learn more about watch making, wonder if I can get a good description on disassembly and lubrication?

  9. Hoping this was a good pickup on ebay for my budget sub build? Still waffling over which dial etc. but this movement should go in the old style MBW 5513 case I just ordered from Eurotimez

    Any ideas?

  10. Hi all,

    Last report I had picked up a case and movement holder, it has been a slow search for the rest of the parts as the prices on midsize seem to be inflated for some reason. I was lucky to source a genuine dial that is a nice light champagne.

    Questions for the gurus;

    I see alot of Sapphire crystal upgrades on ebay for the midsize, is this the way to go or should I go with the original acrylic crystal?

    Also as I mentioned the dial I picked up is a nice light gold with black markers, I will try to get some decent picks but should I go TT or all stainless? Obviously TT will cost me more for the bezel and crown but the gens on ebay look a little too gold for my taste. I think the one gen I saw in person must have been rose or white gold as it was much more understated the yellow gold TT. any ideas?

    I am still looking for the right deal on the ETA 2000, but there was some mention of the taller cannon etc. can anyong point me to the part numbers to source?

    Thanks,

    Chris

  11. Didn't mean to be some judgemental, but it is not a good copy at all. They look like the cheap china cases with the tudor engravings done afterwards. The engravings on the lugs are done via laser and not the proper hard engraving.

    No offence taken, I was actually hoping someone with a keener eye would chime in, saved me from bidding really.

    as for the engravings between the lugs I did spot this as wrong but seeing as how MBK appear laser etched as well and they misspelled Rolex....

    As for the case back now that I looked around for a few pics of genuine it does look sketchy.

    I wonder why the action ended early? He has movements as well!

  12. I know it has been written that this is not possible to fit an ETA to a Gen or ETA case but it makes me wonder;

    How does a Tudor watch solve this dilemma?

    I thought the Tudor was basically the same case as the Rolex but with engraving on the caseback and an ETA based movement. The more time I lurk on this forum the less sure I am about what I want, so many great watches!!

    Thanks for great reading!!

  13. @ One4adventure I'm keeping it for sentimental reasons and I might use the dial on another watch.

    Thanks Dieselpower, I am looking for an empty MBW case as the base of a fantasy watch project, do you know if anyone sells the empty case new? I am not even looking for Rolex markings, just that it be compatible with gen parts (crown bezel insert etc.) I am planning a tritium tube powered vintage sort of old meets new :) think of it like dropping a CRD into my series rover......
