  1. Am I correct in assuming that this 3135 clone winds and sets in the same direction as gen, which from what I understand is opposite from all ETA movements? Unless you care about how it looks when opened up, that is the only real advantage I can see in using one. Although that alone is more than enough of a reason, as far as I'm concerned!

    Yes :)

  2. that's actually not that bad, i like it! =)

so there's a Noob version coming out? and this is when? a month, a year?

I kind of want it now hehe

We don't know for sure :/

The rep is cheap though, $180 is not that bad.

Also if you want an oversized RG dress watch check out this Chopard.

It can look very elegant on a nice leather strap.

  3. There seems to be a bit of chatter lately about a Diver V4. I am not sure if these means the Noob V3 with a few tweaks, such as date window AR tinge (less blue) and more precise lume application which means this news would be coming from Angus and Toro, or is it a completely new watch from another factory, say Chanel, which means it might be suggested by Andrew/Josh?

My thoughts are that if it is a Noob V4, then Toro will know.

    Has anyone heard anything reliable?

    N.

Yes there is a V4 from the H factory coming soon.

The Chanel factory made the V1.

The flaws listed are somewhat exaggeraged but they are accurate.

Further more, if the NF was realeasing an update to a watch that was just released, why in the world would he tell you and scare off V3 sales?

Hmmm. This doesn't sound very accurate based on the V3 models I've seen. Which TD was this?

It is accurate. Lume is sub par, blue AR tint cyclops, bezel screws are not as well finished, high beat movement etc.

The V4 is being acknowledged by Angus. Couldn't get a sense whether it is a Noob redo or a different factory.

It's almost surely an H factory product.

  4. Alex Ferguson also has a hublot so perhaps only managers over 65 choose them because the face is large enough to read with cataracts??

Panerais are even more legible, and sometimes even more ostentatiously gaudy through Richemont's overly advertised theme of "minimalism".

  5. Battler, the APRO rumor, where did you hear that? In the RG thread I started Angus mentioned he would get on the N factory about it, and he sounded confident that the N fact would be interested, but that's about as far as the rumor goes afaik.

Yes I also saw that Angus chimed in but the AP RO 41mm Is almost surely in the pipeline. Why? AP is arguably the hottest Gen brand right now and the RO and ROO reps are excellent sellers.

The gen is a 2 hand, low beat (!). They can and should stick a 21j in it and the closed caseback. If a casino or a bookie asked me to put odds on it, I'd say 2:1.

  6. The Fiddys are monumental watches that are imho still underrated. This watch was notorious for being impossible to rep, the noob maker came in and gave us a true 1:1. From the crystal to the front loading case. The movement finishing on the 127s is not as good as the 217s but it's a major stretch to say the 127s movement makes it less desirable. These are 47mm though and that leads to the tentative ones passing on it, but make no doubt this one is as good as the 029, 111, 005, 243 and the 288k. Real real Super Rep.

  7. A dress watch will never sell as much as a sports watch. That's the only reason they won't rep them properly.

I'd love to get something like the Piaget Altiplano 43 w/ the rep PP microrotor movement but it won't be done.

Name an immensely popular and profitable 2/3 hand, closed caseback dress watch...?

They are very few and far between.

The only dress watch that I know of in the pipeline is the 41mm AP Royal Oak. But technically even that is a sports watch.

The new retro Ingeniuer is rumored, but I hope its picked up by the NF rather than the small maker that's version was just released.

  8. "ETA 2836-2 powered watch for $75?

    Very hard to believe."

You just hit a nerve. ;)

    You gotta know 'A Guy'!

The guy I got the Gruens from had a few thousand of them...brand new closeouts from a big USA retailer.

Every time I tell a story like this someone will post a remark, send a pm etc saying they do not believe it.

Anyone who knows me believes it. Just ask my wife. :air_kiss:

I misunderstood. I thought you were actively getting these as new.

I understand these sorts of deals can be had from new old stocks and from closeout deals.

Theres a French seller we buy from that sells nos ETA 7750 elabores for $200.

Getting Orients for $40 must be pretty cool too.
