Excellent review WetWork, Joshua is indeed the man. Finally caved and paid for someone to adjust the band on mine to my [censored]-like wrists, I don't think it'll be an everyday watch to be honest, but it fits nicely under French-cuffed shirts, so that's a plus. Any recommendations on a thinner watch for every-day wear? Funny story, the guy who was doing the adjustment said "That's a really nice watch mate, did you buy that yourself or was it a gift?" "Uh, yeah, a gift." He probably doesn't see too many POs, but nice to know it has at least a passing resemblance to the real deal.

Yeah the pearl is a bit off, but think about how that will translate into the watch you'll actually be wearing. On my screen, you can see its about 1 mm off, however, remember that the diameter of the watch is going to be 42 mm, which is a lot smaller than you'd think, and it'll only be somewhat noticeable. However, since these are just the QC pics, like everyone said, if you want them to swap it out or whatever, feel free, you're the one that is going to wear it and we all want you to be happy with your purchase

The frog on the top is slightly misaligned, but you'd never tell unless you spent ages looking at it, and compared it directly to a gen. Nice find! Which dealer?

Yeah pretty great, although I'm not wearing it - pin remover still hasn't turned up and the band is still way too big. Keep worrying it's broken, but of course a few shakes and it keep moving again... Looking great, vandal!

I think I definitely will mate, when I get the extra couple of links taken out of it (have a skinny-ass 6.5" wrist, pretty much have to take 4-5 links out of the band). Hopefully I can take a few decent snaps with the iphone camera... Here's one of the QC pics front on: Just a couple of quick observations about it: - Keeping time alright so far, left it overnight and lost about 5 seconds, I knew the QC claims were a bit too generous (+1, +3, -1, -6 s/day) but it might settle down after a while - Bezel is that tiny, tiny bit off centre, or it might even be well aligned, I might be looking at it the wrong way and adding a bit of parallax error - Has a nice heft to it, the Gen is meant to be about 190 g, this feels like it's easily that, will have to get it on the scales at some point. Still, feels nice and solid - Links are nice, probably not as smooth as the Gen, but when the whole watch costs 1/4 of what an Omega band is... something has to give - Clasp is really nice feeling, doesn't stick anywhere, deployable clasp is alright too. The steel looks and feels pretty good too, I know this is probably 316 while the Gen is 440, been trying to look up the differences, which I'm guessing is most likely down to chemistry and the resulting properties of that. - As far as I can tell, the back is decent, maybe the seamonster (which I found out just then is the hippocampus, thought that was the part of the brain that dealt with memory... learn something every day) isn't as pronounced? Either way, the engraving is really nice, I haven't seen a Gen, but looking at pictures on the Omega site were pretty close - Maaaaaybe the only fault I can see (though I expect others could pick it apart in seconds) is the slight happy feet on the Omega logo on the dial, but it's one of those things you don't notice unless you're looking really closely at it All in all, really happy with it, some great communication from Josh, and pretty quick posting, after Chinese New Year, of course, haha!

I'd definitely like a Gen at some point (after I'm done with my PhD, maybe), but for now, this thing is pretty good.

Well, it turned up today, had to race home and pick it up from the post office... thing looks really nice, has a good weight to it, band and clasp feel good, just need to get a few links taken out of it. Shouldn't cost that much, should it?

WetWork: ah cool, I mean for the outlay of the watch itself, wouldn't be hugely devastated if it crapped out, and plus I've been interested in mechanical watches, and love pulling things apart to see how they work, not an expensive entry to the hobby... though I know it can be a slippery slope, haha!

Definitely, it's an understated looking watch, not a huge fan of big flashy dials with a million things going on, but I can definitely see how some people might need the extra features. It was the cheapo one with the Asian 21J movement, but like I said, first foray into this kind of thing, so probably not the worst starting point.

For sure, I totally agree. People will assume that a gen is a rep anyway, so why not save yourself a few large and get the rep anyway? I'm sure you guys will be able to point me in the direction of a good automatic Omega rep for a good price. MasterOfPuppets, I'm sure the noob guide will be invaluable in doing so. Cheers guys!

Hello all, Yet another Aussie saying hi to everyone on these boards. Been a member for a while (stumbled on this place after looking at Seamasters and regretting not having $4k to blow on one) and finally decided to stay a while and actually participate in discussions and whatnot.
