Nice! Is that a 45 with AR?
Friend of mine got one of these today, bracelet doesn't sit great at the solid end at all. And what's with the wind on these. One pull changes the date, and the 2nd click moves the hands, Where and how do they wind at all? It's not a 'U'PO just a PO.

SEL http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t208/yo...ts/DSCN6509.jpg
NON SEL http://www.rolexandtudor.com/im/Rolex-93150-580-979.JPG
the difference should be obvious. when on the watch and wrist feels different and the little "hands" seen on the end of the bracelet pieces over lap the case, SEL *usually* sit flush with the case
LUME is like that of any rep. its the noobmariner dial, so 1/4th the power of the real thing for about a minute
I agree with you, ESPECIALLY for the speedmaster
Thank you for doing that! Much appreciated..

Hi, can you explain what it's about when people talk about solid end pieces on the bracelet, are there different versions? ans what is SEL? Oh, and how is the lume on these Euromariners?
-
I recently had the same question.
One of the Rollie experts explained that certain old model Subs had the lugholes. If I remember right, those versions haven't been made for about 5 years.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
I think it probably looks better without, but it's the vintage look.
Not convinced on the engraving issue though. I don't think I'd like it....
-
I checked the Rolex official site and the only Sub on display that has engravings is the 40 mm Sub in yellow gold.
Right, I only looked at the black, and who would want it in yellow gold right
-
The engraving was first put on the redesigned DateJust and Turn O Graph at BaselWorld 2004, then 50th anniversary GMT II at BaselWorld 2006, then others models followed suit.
Yuh, I'm confused about that too, because the current Subs don't have the 'ROLEXROLEXROLEX' on the rehaut, so when did they have? And pluses and minuses of the lugholes? Obviously without looks better??
-
I read so much conflict on here about to wind or not to wind. What's the score there? Even when out of the box, you shouldn't wind it? When you buy gens Omega etc they tell you to wind it don't they, at least initially? Some even 40 to 60 times before you wear it? Do they all vary?

The Noobs generally come with a pearl that is slightly 'zitty' whereas the Euromariner comes with one that looks to slightly proturde from the surround. With a gen insert the Euromariner will be amazingly close to the real deal.To explain it as simply as I can (and because my brain isn't really working at the moment)- Gen pearl is essentially a small, thin WG ring (it's actually a small cup that sits in the insert, for lack of better term) that is filled with lume and has a glass dome over it. A pic would explain this better than I can (I need some coffee, methinks):
Thanks guys.... looks like the one to go for huh...

Please excuse a newbie question..... I know on the Omegas alot of the reps have those awful raised pearls on the bezel and the gens have sunken ones.
Just because on this pic the Noob's pearl looks more genuine than the Euro. I could be completely wrong but what is the general consenus of opinion on it? Is the Rolex not sunken like the Noob one and closer to the Euro model. They both look pretty nice. What cost difference?
Does nobody have any answer to this, regarding the pearl on the bezel?

That's for sure, thanks a lot, fine old place you got here!
-
Yuh, that's what I meant... I didn't think that 'bit' was plastic..
-
Yeh, I would stick with all black and white. Robbie's gen in lume shot is a beaut. Always shows up great in pics that watch, When you see it in the flesh, not taking anything away from it, but it never looks as good as it does in shots.
The pearl on the 42s are always a bit lousy on the reps.
-
Thanks for the explanation. I always thought the Rolex bezel was some sort of metal, never knew they used plastic!! Cheapskates. Blue huh....... dunno about that. I'm presuming the all black sub, strap, bezel, dial etc on one of the dealer sites here is just a pipe dream and not a rep of a model?
-
It's the big bang innit!
Good luck on the Roly! It does look pretty fine
-
Hi Andy, have Rolex just started using ceramic for the bezel or have they always been ceramic but the reps use something else, I've only just noticed people saying 'ceramic bezel' recently, What do all the older ones use?
-
so there are some 16610 that didn't have it, or do you mean series as in variations of 16610 and other numbers?
-
Doesn't the 16610 have the ROLEXROLEXROLEX engraving round the inside of the edges under the crystal?
-
Thanks FM, so all the fakes with white painted bezels are screamers then!
-
That's the color of the ceramic bezel numbers.
As on a gen? Same on the subs?
-
Out of interest, do the gens have grey numbers not white on the bezel now? I've seen it on a few Subs on the dealer sites on here too...
-
Jam - I may well have mine coming up for sale. That is if ever I get it back from TomHighway :D
On the strength of a Black PO rep that I bought from Fireman_Fred. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?act=fi...&pid=483505 Same model as this (2201.51.00) but on leather. I have just bought the gen but on steel like in the attachment. If I ever get mine back from TomHighway, I will post some pics of it.
The crown was loose so I have asked TomHighway to fix it for me. Other than the small problem, it is sublime. Let me know if you can't find what you are looking for and perhaps I can help you out.
BTW - Where are you - UK?
Fireman Fred, TomHighway, fantastic handles!! Yep, am in the UK mate. I'm after the plain black and white face on bracelet..
I have a gen Seamaster that I've had for 12 years and fancy a change, but after trying on the PO, I couldn't warrant 2K. Nice as it is, I couldn't justify it. Tried on the 45 as well, MASSIVE watch. Never owned a rep, but hear some are tops. The Subs have confused the life out of me on here!! Ceramic bezel? Is that what they use on the gen?
Welcome to RWG Jam , ithink your first post has been answered, i can only echo the endorsements from above, Narikaa, PT, Eurotimez and Homer hava all provided me sterling service in the past., And when you get in touch tell tthem where you heard it from, RWG!Absolutely, thanks Andy. You guys are a refreshing change!

Interesting, Thanks Jim, I do like that and the date isn't too far over, So the 42mm, aren't the Utlimates are they? Do we know what the difference is? Which one you going for, black or red?
Robbie, that pic is listed as a 42 yep, but obviously what you are saying makes a lot of sense, and chances are they've used a diff pic?

I agree with Cheifwiggum,
I read, read, & read some more and wnt with Chris at Eurotimez. He's great with emails and if you go to his site and read about his quality control I think you'll find him to be A +.
Angus Paul Josh & Ruby are all godd with emails too but as yet haven't done a buy with them.
as a First i wnt with a Blacl/Black S.S. Noob Submariner.
Go to the links tab at the tob the click on "Dealers Websites" it's all there.
You do have to put some hard yards in but "there's no such thing as a free lunch" !!!!
good luck
Jim (Jimmy T)
Thanks Jim, the Sub is another whole game! That can drive you mad, I've seen so many, but not being up on the original, I don't know what to look for. The 2008 one I see with ceramic bezel does look great though. How is the Noob one you got?

can you guys give me a clue on winding? It's not a UPO it's a 42m, but with a chinese movement. shaking you can hear the motor running, but still only lasted about 9 hours. Winding stopped it till it was shaken again.. Any clues as to how to wind, one pull, date, 2 pulls hands move... ??
