  1. Arrived today! Here's a quick phone pic taken just minutes after opening the package. Love the correct hands upgrade too. Will sew a strap on this weekend.
  2. Just this shot of the dial (with gold RR track) and hands just before shipping it off (the old hands still attached). Also, one final pic VDB sent, a little closer to straight-on. Watch was shipped from Germany today... should arrive Friday and can post pics Sat. Here's the old case set I replaced (Type G Cali case with a Type F bezel and plexi)
  3. I just received the tracking # for my 3646 Cali being shipped from Erfurt. I got my name on the list for one of VDB's project case sets as soon as they were announced at the end of last year. Last week I shipped the movement and Cali dial off to Germany for the transplant and hands upgrade. Absolutely 1:1 inside and out (yes I know that T's minute hand is a smidge too long for the Cali version 3646... but I think I'll be able to live with that). Per gen the case back and bezel screw into the movement/coupling ring. Guess you could say I'm more than excited And here are some teaser pics I found in my PM box while on my lunch break today. More pics once it arrives.
  4. Once you register there, you can enlarge all of the pics to their full size.
  5. +1... been there, done that, totally agree
  6. My one and only Omega... still going strong after almost 20 years
  7. Good thing I had PhotoShop... but fixed for real now. Phone pic with recessed CP fixed with the old school method...
  8. Back to my favorite sausage dial PAM...
  9. Day 4 and still wearing this one...
  10. I'm also thinking 202 4-liner PVD as the lugs on this case are on the chunky side.
  11. Thanks! That's definitely on my list. Since it started life as a gen case, I want to make sure I decide to keep it as a 201a and not make it into a more contemporary model. Once I drill it out, there's no turning back
  12. His asking is a bit on the high side, but he did follow with OBRO. He'd probably settle for 3-3100.
  13. So this one has been floating around for awhile. It started with the case set that was part of a gen part-out with another member. He started to convert it to a 201a franken. He wasn't feeling a lot of love for it, so I offered to take it off his hands. He had a very good looking DSN dial in it, but the slightly smaller #'s and the slightly larger arrow logo bugged me. In with an FGD dial and slap on a correct Pre-V buckle/strap = a lot of love for me Parts rundown so far... gen case set 98% 1:1 Jakob(sp) case back hands... standard rep issue, nicely aged in coffee by the previous owner FGD dial Swiss 6497 movement from Ofrei.com Dirk strap with Pre-V correct buckle Next upgrade... FGD is considering doing correct Pre-V hands :thumbsupsmileyanim: Some quick phone pics in the driveway (just drove back from the previous owner's house where he did the dial transplant for me).
  14. Here's a crystal distortion comparo with gen I did the other day. Close enough to pass and do justice to the gen dial and hands upgrade!
  15. Just checked and it's tracking on schedule for delivery today... I got a bit of sellers remorse when I saw that
  16. He's going to end up with essentially a passable nearly gen Fiddy for approximately 1/5 th the cost of the gen... that's wacked
  17. #10 I'm afraid. I shipped it off this afternoon to Northern CA. The new owner will be adding gen hands, a gen dial and a gen bezel. Can't wait to see pics!
  18. I can ask the previous owner. I've tried it on a DSN and Cartel case as well with no fitment issues.
  19. This one has been in and out of the rotation for over 15 years...
  20. Last day for this one. Lume'n outdoors...
  21. Yes... it's a crystal from Rex. It was a replacement as a previous owner had scratched the original crystal beyond use. Agree about the strap... it's the only way to fly with a Fiddy! As I mentioned to Kruzer, a member had recently accused me of using a better camera and just saying I used an iPhone. I told him to check the EXIF Camera Data for any of the pics in question... haven't heard back from him after he did that. EXIF data doesn't lie The key with getting closer with the new iPhone is using the touch-focus function to choose the main area of focus... makes a huge difference. The other vital ingredient is good lighting. That's why I rarely use it indoors. Performance falls off a cliff in low light conditions.
  22. Damn... I was afraid you were going to post a pic of yours... sooooo nice! First rep dial I've ever seen that has the "1950" spaced correctly between the pin and the "6". Funny you mention the iPhone pics. I had a member accuse me of not actually using the iPhone but merely saying I did. All one has to do as proof is open the pic file and read the "Camera Data EXIF" for the image. Can't alter that info... it tells you what camera the photo came from.
