  1. Back on my wrist again... really missed this one and really appreciate the previous owner's upgrades.
  2. I didn't realize there was a potential fit issue with the 581 casebacks/EL cases. The watch came to me this way (previous owner replaced the 117 with this one). I've had it off already to check the o-ring and it screwed back on nice and smooth. Did I pay more this time? You betcha ... last time there was no gen cg, 581 caseback, better DSN hands or better version EL dial.
  3. I'm the 8th owner of this franken project (I was also owner #4). I know everyone that has owned it, and was pleased to see the last owner take it a couple of steps closer to ultimate status. He added a gen cg and a new case back without the typical rep serial # 0117/1950. More details about the other new parts when I post better photos this weekend. I just picked it up this afternoon, so only time for some quick iPhone pics... (the hands are gold, guess the iPhone couldn't handle the over-exposed area).
  4. This one is coming back home to my wrist on Tues... with some serious upgrades
  5. I was going to, but the site owner of the pics won't be getting out of bed for another 4-5 hours... felt I should get permission first. BTW, registration only takes a minute or 2.
  6. They're even more amazing than I imagined. My movement and dial have been sent for the install and now I start staring at my mailbox. The wait has definitely been sooo worth it! Check them out... stunning pics... http://www.vintagevdb.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=386
  7. ... and now docked with lines secured. It already has me rethinking my sig.
  8. I hope you feel better now... My wife feels that way about all of my PAMs
  9. It's a prototype made by Panerai before going into production with the first Black Seal / G series.
  10. One last wear for the 3646 Cali before sending it off for a new case set...
  11. Finally got a decent phone pic of this one...
  12. I'll be staring at this one all day at work...
  13. I like that idea... a photo a day for 6 months. What's cool about your capture is that if you took out the small piece of branch sitting on the ice, it would just be another typical nice post card moment. That singular element defines the whole image BECAUSE it tells the viewer in a subtle way he's looking at ice and a winter scene. I always try to capture a scene with a singular element in it that can take that common scene and transform it in some subtle way. Unfortunately I have to take way too many pics to come across that special moment. When I took this one I originally thought this little girl had gotten in the way, until I got home, downloaded it and saw that it was good (lucky) timing.
  14. Why do I feel like a recently divorced man running into his ex with her new boyfriend... LOL. Looks great on you. It's a very special piece that I know you'll enjoy.
  15. Your pic is a perfect example of "rules" are meant to be broken... meaning rules like... "never put your subject in the center" or "set your white-balance before shooting" and "symmetrical crops are boring" (sorry... I made up the last one and actually believed it). So I'm saying your pic shows that a symmetrical crop or view can be very interesting and even artistic. I mean if one is actually sitting in that space, that's how it would look at the time and later in your memory. The design of the organ and pipe array... it's all about symmetry AND that symmetry being echoed in the architectural space as well. A lot going on in what initially appears to be a simple capture. As far as the rule re. not putting the subject matter in the center, well in this case it's all about having it in the center... any other way would be visually out of balance and the sense of exhalted architecture compromised. Sometimes I think we can be a bit hung-up on correct white balance. In your pic the color conveys a mood... is it the same exact shades of color that you saw when you were there? I don't think it really matters. You don't have to have the correct balance to convey what you FELT vs. what you saw with your eyes. 3 cups of coffee later and rant over.
  16. Thanks! I'm definitely a proud owner. This one has quite a history.
  17. Just picked this one up today from a great member...
  18. I don't think it will be a one-of-a-kind for very long. That was a great idea you had, and I'm sure there are several members are staring at their 88's right now
  19. I've always liked the 183 Black Seal, but this one is over the top cool. I like the gold hands and the crown shape. Interesting prototype.
