  1. +1... the Hamilton movements are a natural for this kind of project. Solid movements that look great and can often be found beautifully decorated.
  2. It's killin' me that I can't get LH to sell me just the destro movement. Here's my 217 again waiting for one... my favorite iPhone wristy...
  3. Make sure to use the touch-focus so you can choose the area of focus. Make sure the lens is wiped clean. And make sure to download the larger file 2736 x 3648 (not the one for emails 600 x 800). The image in my OP started out as a full-wrist shot and was tightly cropped. You can't email the big file from your phone is my understanding.
  4. Still like to wear this one once in awhile... recently serviced and 15 years young now...
  5. Thanks! Beautiful indeed... have worn it 5 days straight now Very happy... it's been my gateway drug into Rolex
  6. Day 4 and counting. Can't stop looking at it. iPhone wristy...
  7. I'll be up that way on Sat. for another GTG. Too long of a drive 2 days in a row. Hopefully the next one can be mid-way, like around the Costa Mesa area.
  8. As posted earlier, I just received this beautiful project from member Ptolomeo. I wanted to show how amazing the re-lume by The Zigmeister is. The Tritium mixture application is perfect. And the pearl aging ain't too bad either... the guy truly is an artist! Here's a quickie iPhone pic for now. I'll try to take more pics this weekend.
  9. Totally off the charts!!! All of your time and effort has paid off... each one is a stunner. Good choices on the straps btw.
  10. Do the upgrade... you won't regret it. Plus it's easy to resell the 3G. The video quality is amazing as well.
  11. Liking how close I can get with the new iPhone. My new 1680 franken (many, many thanks Ptolomeo!) with correct optional T39 plex. More pics this weekend.
  12. Have had this one only half a day so far, so will definitely be wearing it ALL DAY Friday.
  13. Thanks! I'll check it out. But I'm spoiled right now with a Photoshop dedicated computer at work and at home. Very nice indeed brutha! Wasn't sure if I'd like going down in size, but this piece is so well done it's a non-issue.
  14. Just received this 1680 franken today (with correct T39 option) and felt I got another good iPhone capture with this one. The new 3Gs is proving to be quite handy for taking detailed wristies... just need the right lighting and a steady hand. Touch focus is a nice feature and makes a HUGE difference when getting in close. Including 3 other watches shot recently with the 3Gs.
  15. This one arrived in the mail today... one fantastic 1680 with the T39 option. iPhone wristy.
  16. The video is surprisingly good as well. Full disclosure... you have to have really good lighting, otherwise it has a hard time focusing. It's gen. I series. NOS condition. Thanks! What you don't see are the other dozen pics that didn't come out so hot
  17. Lovin' the 219... plus the latest iPhone is really great for taking wrist shots. This is a 50% crop of the smaller email version file.
  18. My trusty '93 Seamaster... first year for skeleton hands. T dial starting to turn yellow. Still running strong. iPhone pic...
  19. It belongs to a friend and is gen... so any Panerai AD.
  20. Forgot to mention the robust threaded inserts for the wire lug retaining screws. A very nice detail. The case back was beveled like the 232 and definitely added to the comfort on the wrist.
  21. Enjoyed the last one as well. Maybe a different place this time? Large open-room restaurants can draw a little too much attention sometimes.
  22. As if the 305 sub wasn't enough to lust for, next up was the latest version 292 sans pig. The dial definitely has a cleaner look and the entire watch has a presence that's hard to capture with a camera. The ceramic surface doesn't appear as dull in person as it does in print. This one really grew on me. Played around with different straps (if mine would probably go with both light ammo and a black JV). Weight seemed comparable to Ti. The crisp edges of the case and bezel were very evident due to never having been polished or brushed.
  23. Please note that the original 3646 cases were made by a machining process using a series of cams to guide the lathes and mills (for both consistency and speed)... which was the precursor to CNC machining. They were not made individually by hand per se, only perhaps fine-tuning with finishing files and polishing wheels was the only time "hand-made" came into play.
