  1. I don't have an Angelus destro pic, but as acknowledged in Volker's book, many variations exist and have yet to all be documented. Plus VDB said that so far several Destros are known to exist, but have not been photo-documented.
  2. Picked up this vintage piece when the Erfurt Combo was in Chicago this past weekend for the 1st annual Vintage GTG. Beautifully reworked case, gen crystal, amazing Ross dial vintagized to perfection by Helmut and all set off by Gunny's latest 1:1 vintage Panerai strap. Note that the Angelus movement only has the single engraving per the period correct movements used by Panerai. For me it helps make up a little for not being the non-alarm version. Excuse the lo-res phone pics as I didn't take a camera with me.
  3. A bit overwhelming to look at in one viewing. I feel like anything I'd say would be an understatement. Well done!
  4. He did the lume as gen... not a torch by any means. I like my lume accurate to the brand. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being none and 10 a mega-torch) mine would be a 6 with average longevity... once again as gen.
  5. Current version has gen-like dw positioning. I was at an AD yesterday and walked away feeling this dial's color and sheen is spot on. Plus the AR, while not to Chief's standards, is as gen.
  6. The person I bought the watch from picked it up at a gen forum in the classifieds. They turn up fairly often.
  7. Funny you ask as we weren't watching the time and I barely had time to gobble up my sandwich. Spot the gen?
  8. Time for some Panerai and a new strap...
  9. Texts, emails and phone calls the day before and morning of... selling this, traded that and I want to checkout your new vintage. Also threw a BP into the mix. Best lunch in a long time and can't say I was much motivated to go back to work. A great way to end the work week with fellow watch collectors! And a big thanks to kollektor for taking these great pics with his latest version iPhone. 2 vintages ready for straps... Time to try'em on... Pile-o-ammos... Nice... Something new R and L, something old...
  10. I really like this one as much as my black dial BP. The strap puts this version over the top for me. Hard to see in the pic, but the grey dial is very close to gen-perfect with it's cartwheel lustre. The AR is also near-gen, but not as good as Chief's. The deployant buckle fits the strap with no problems.
  11. I've been a long-time fan of Kevin/Big B ammo straps... so when this used one turned up FS, I grabbed it pronto. The polished knife-edge buckle is soooo nice. Wanted to convey a bit of a film like quality to the photos vs. the often typical contrasty, tack-sharp digital look. This watch/strap combo is a lock... thanks VDB and Kevin!
  12. You hit the nail on the head. Plenty of indirect but strong light in my driveway (light reflective concrete plus an off-white garage door). Inexpensive Canon PowerShot SD 790.
  13. Did a little horse trading for an OEM Jules Verne strap and gotta say it feels right at home with my 113. Only downside is that the brushed surface stains very easily when touched with wet or greasy fingers. So I thought I better take some pics while it still looks nice.
  14. Vac did an amazing job with this watch. The datewheel fix is a huge difference as can be seen. The Chief dbl AR is fantastic. I'll have this one on my wrist for quite some time
  15. I was looking at more pics of that watch and the caseback looks gen, but of course it might not be the same watch as in the first pic. http://www.essential-watches.com/Panerai-PAM00196(PAM196)-PAM-196-Luminor-Daylight-Chronograph-Black-Dial-Original-Version-(Discontinued)-18841.aspx#moreimages
  16. Not mine and it's gen. I believe it's solid gold and was a full restoration for a customer.
  17. Case sets are from Kevin/Adeeos. Yes... gen dials. I believe he may also have some gen hands lined up as well.
  18. Thought I'd share some pics of my friend's projects that are nearing completion. I visited the watchmaker this morning to take some final pics of all of the parts prior to assembly this coming week. Movements have been serviced, an improperly seated jeweled bearing replaced, new stem sourced and a cannon pin fabricated to accommodate a thicker dial. Also including pics of some tasty morsels that were shown to us. Check out the vintage cabinet with a dozen draws containing just about every imaginable size of pocket watch crystals, both plex and glass. Also several boxes of mechanical clocks pulled from instrument panels (mostly WWII era). 8-day fully serviced movements in both radium and tritium dials (you can see a tritium version in the lower RH corner). The movements are awesome... he sells the complete clocks, so I immediately put one on hold for a desk clock to be housed in clear lucite. Finally, pics of a beautiful gold watch he had just finished restoring. It was a great morning for this vintage watch lover along for the ride!
  19. Ammos can look very good with historic cases... yours' is no exception! Love the extra tail in the wrist shot, just the right amount.
  20. Strap by Simona, but I picked up this one up from a seller @paneristi.com. The strap measures 145/85mm.
  21. This is one amazing strap to put on any vintage piece. Once I had Volker's new book in front of me, I loved this strap even more... it's soooo close to feeling and looking 1:1. It's developing a great patina and is amazingly comfortable.
