Some quick pics working with ceiling lights until I get my soft-boxes back. The 3646 is just a visitor and the 6152/1 is my latest purchase.
Last pic is the 2 vintages laid down on a large photo (the cover of Volker's latest book "Vintage Panerai"). Tried to position them so they look part of the group.
Can't be tightened up... I tried that. What causes it to get loose is the plastic insert with teeth that wears down. Rather than replace just that, they replace the entire bezel unit.
If the bezel is removed prior make sure to include it with the watch when shipped. They only replace parts they get, not that are "lost" (unless an AD vouches for you).
8 weeks is pretty much the average turnaround time.
This one was $480 with s/h, but it was a bit over-spec'd compared to what I would probably order. Everything at their site is custom order... width, taper, thickness, stitch, stitch color, hide, where on the hide, where the scales line up, cut edge/rolled edge, type of padding, exact thickness taper, finish and hole placement.
You are absolutely right! I've never owned another brand that could be so easily enhanced with a simple srap change.
Probably why this collector has so many to choose from...
I finally bought a strap made by ABP-Paris without having to pay the price to have it made. I found it @ paneristi used less 50%.
I always wanted to try one on to see what all the fuss was about. Gotta say they are very well-made and the hides are beautiful.
26/24mm...
Yeah, that's always a possibility. Another reason to buy the seller, not the watch.
He sent along the receipt from Richemont... the service was performed last month and was movement only. He had the watch since new in 2004, so felt although only wound on weekends that after 5 yrs. he should have the movement checked. Refinish was not necessary and cleaning/oiling the movement with regulation was the only service required, as well as new gaskets and lube.
Plus, I have seen examples of Panerai's refinishes and it's quite easy to tell. Upon close inspection one can see a bit of the case edge crispness lacking as well as edge softening around any engraving. Not in this case.
Thank you for the YouTube suggestion!
The 183G reps are very close to gen as I found out this weekend. I was impressed. Make sure to post pics after it arrives.
