  1. Lately G series have been trading at $4200-4400 complete but with the usual wear of a 5 yr old watch. LNIB with recent full service/warranty $4500-4600. Retail currently $5900. G's are the unique ones so they usually trade a little higher.
  2. Oh my... I think this is longest time I've ever spent looking at pics in a single post! Beautiful work rolli!
  3. I was going through the archives at several of the usual gen sites and came across an older sales post for a PAM 183G that had been recently serviced. That's always a plus with older PAM's as you get a 1 yr warranty with it. The price was approx. 15% below market with Overnight shipping and PP fees included. So I figured I'd email the seller hoping it might still be available. It was! Plus it turned out to be a total safe queen. The seller was a great guy to deal with and threw in an extra strap... a nice Delaurian made vintage. Gotta love the G series version! More formal pics to follow. Not looking forward to strap changes though, with micro screws like these, scratches are going to be unavoidable
  4. I agree and nice that DLC'd Ti ends up looking the same as done to ss. Can't wait to see this one come together!
  5. STUNNING!!! Kudos once again to the Erfurt Combo!
  6. Every once in awhile I like to flog myself a little over some of the rep projects I've let go. They're all with great great owners now, however a little regret kicks in from time to time when I think about them. But at the end of the day it really comes down to a lot of good memories acquiring these, the members that got involved and the new friendships that resulted! Here's my top 3...
  7. Amazing how close the finish of the strap matches the PVD of the watch. Looks great on the wrist too!
  8. Two very fine examples that illustrate what I love about this hobby and many of the folks involved in it.
  9. Part of it can be that when looking at the dial your hands are not positioned symmetrically. This can cause a visual skewing, though slight, that can be just enough with prolonged staring to drive one a little batty. Also, if you have any astigmatism problems then your screwed unless that's corrected.
  10. This piece pushes every PAM button I've got... oh my.
  11. Was looking for this as I thought it had been posted here before. Couldn't find it, so here it is... I had Kinkos print some up as white on blue like actual blueprints. IMPORTANT... to get the full-size 32" x 23" / 200 dpi jpeg to save to disk, you'll need to click-on/enlarge the image twice. Otherwise it comes out to 78 dpi and doesn't print out very nicely. http://www.connectingwatches.com/PANERAI-P...hes-001803.html
  12. Amazing results with a Camera Phone ammandel! Looking forward to more info. I have an iPhone and have had some good results, but the conditions (subject contrast and lighting) have to be almost perfect... otherwise the built-in camera sucks. It's very frustrating.
  13. Definitely hoping for the rep version soon. I have the gen but haven't gotten completely comfortable wearing it as I'm not looking forward to the first ding. I'm real bad about banging watch cases when going through doorways I'm with you as far as the movement goes and feel the same about the 233 rep. Nobody is going to see it while on your wrist, just get the dial right and I'm happy. Recent pic I shot...
  14. Just found a site where Calendars can be created and then reside there for anyone to download for free to print out on their own printer. How cool is that!
  15. Yeah... I just saw that. I would like to focus on Panerai and folks would go to one of the sites where the calendar has been uploaded and they can order one for approx. $7-9 (no money going to me). It's then shipped to them. Several other hobby related forums I frequent have done a similar thing with Calendars. I'm not intending to step on anybody's toes here. I don't feel what I've proposed impedes or in any way interferes with what Lani is doing. The scope of what he is doing is much broader than my project of which his Calendar is but one of several goals. If what I'm proposing is deemed inappropriate then I defer to the mods judgement and will no longer mention my idea.
  16. Bring watches?... absolutely. We used to bring quite a few to the gtg's, but have found that less is more as the tables can get a little too crowded, plus we don't want to draw too much attention to our group.
  17. I was editing some photos for work and grabbed some pics that I took today with a quick setup on the kitchen counter playing with reflectors (damn I need a soft box, I hate fluorescent lights ). Image is an up-rez so have lost some sharpness/clarity, but I'm just playing with ideas at this point. The font I used is a little off, but with a little tweaking I was able to get it pretty close. I'd do this with each brand represented. I'm working on a Calendar idea featuring our favorite reps. Getting them printed is surprisingly cheap and I could put it together with pics you guys send to me of your best reps with specs (specs printed to the side of the full-page image). The Calendar would be uploaded to a site where you can click on it and have it printed and sent to you... just a thought.
  18. Trying out some extra straps I've had for awhile... first one up today.
  19. NOS Dirk 2nd generation on my new base... first day for both.
  20. I'm a definite. Anyone else from San Diego is welcome to ride up with me.
  21. Funky weather and not much happening on a Sun. afternoon. So I call up a fellow member, decide on a time and place and a couple of hours later my SD card is full. So here's a taste of what was on the table. Lots of reps with a little gen mixed in. Check out the gen vs. rep comparos.
  22. I this still happening? Several of us would definitely be coming up that Sat. if so.
