  1. Is there a movement hiding behind one of those dials
  2. I agree with all of the responses. We can certainly appreciate the effort as well as the results. And keep an eye on FGD... there's a little hint in his last sentence (at least I hope that's what it is).
  3. My first JR strap should be arriving today or tomorrow. The lite tan looks great on your 111.
  4. A much deserved tribute and a beautiful collection... well done!
  5. Some more pics added and will try to add some studio shots this weekend.
  6. Just arrived last Fri. More pics when I have the time and better light. So for now... here's a combo by the combo at their finest!
  7. No apology needed re. your pics... that your project is outstanding comes through just fine. The PVD finish looks absolutely spot-on to me. Looking forward to more pics!
  8. Totally agree... especially with that dial. Would be really great with a white dial.
  9. Your 111 is looking very good! Congratulations. Would love to see more pics after you've chosen a strap.
  10. That is one beautiful 88. Careful attention to the little details paid off big-time!
  11. Sounds like a great idea. Never have entered a photo contest before, so really looking forward to it.
  12. I was thinking the same thing. I'm hoping a thicker aftermarket strap might help balance that out.
  13. A lot of macros plus standard views and comparos at the end. Also some great close-ups of the movement... http://www.network54.com/Forum/246576/mess...7/312K+Up+Close
  14. Sounds like a good resource. Thanks for sharing!
  15. Exactly what you guys said. When you wear the completed project it has a story behind it. Congratulations!
  16. How are you going to top that? Once you've gone franken, there's no turning back. An outstanding trio!
  17. Very, very nice teamwork on this piece! Great lume shot too. I especially like the new bezel/plex combination.
  18. That would be great... looking forward to that post!
  19. Thanks JK. And you're right re. use of the CC cloth. It was only used on the buckle to get it to match the case set. Because it worked so well, I now realize that aging a rep pvd case is probably the only way to match the original aged finish. It just can't be done with DLC. However for later series PAMs nothing can compete with DLC, especially the way avitt does it.
  20. I wanted to post again and thank those members whose help made this project happen. 6 months of PM's, texting and many phone calls. Mega thanks to... Sylar kruzer00 Rolexfinder and archibald... who generously orchestrated the final assembly of parts. The following pics were a spur of the moment thing... I was visiting my wife at her studio and had my camera with me as well as the 28 on my wrist. The lighting in her studio is industrial fluorescent, so that was going to be a challenge. I cleared a ss countertop and hung a black towel as a backdrop a couple feet away. Put the camera on AWB and was pretty happy with the results. The OEM gator is about 10 yrs. old, so goes well with the worn around the edges case set and heavily patina'd coating. The rep buckle started out as the usual dark black PVD, so I got out the CC cloth and some 180 grit emery cloth to match the case and cg. I tried but wasn't successful in getting the silver hands to show. Next time I'll try a white fill card. I didn't anticipate it, but the lousy bare-bulb light source resulted in pics that come very close to showing the PVD coating as it appears in person. Go figure.
