  1. you can get milspec AR added to a crystal for $40 at a low volume through a very esteemed gentleman on this board. BTW I highly recommend this. I only reach for my newly AR'd watches now. They have that extra awesomeness factor.

In my mind, to get AR in china in bulk was to be at most $20 and probably closer to $5-10 for the manufacturer. So the $139 + 20 = $159. So, another 50 for the movement (swiss) and you are at $209 with some profit already built in. > $300 is ridiculous for this watch if you can get the asian version for $139 and the dealer is still making money.

  2. Oh yea, here we go again...Kruzer comes up with a project, and I get to do the leg work and testing - again - why does this seem familiar?

I guess I know what I will be doing this weekend, testing a crown in a manual wind case...

If the crowns are only 0.90mm stem sizes, then I have adapters I can use to mate the 6497 1.20mm stem to the 0.90mm crown.

I'll let you know how it goes and if it fits.

You need to stop posting and get back to work ;)

thanks for checking this out, Mr.Z

  3. No that is the 42MM non-cousteau.. Picked up a gen while I was in HK 1.5 weeks ago. Didn't want to do it, but I couldn't help myself. :) I love this watch.

Also tried on the Cousteau.. that is how I know it is bigger. I am pretty sure it does not come in the same color combinations (yellow and blue)

You are a smart man - that's a great watch and I think I'm going to pick up a gen of that as well.

Do you mind PM'ing me with the price you paid?

  4. perfect clones got it for $388

but then u gotta add shipping

After looking at your pictures, I can't believe how BAD a job they did on the fonts. They are way to bold, the color is off and the spacing is all wrong.

I could spot this as a rep in 10 seconds without a gen next to it.

Considering they want $400+ for this watch I'm going to make the assertion that the manufacturer is an idiot.

Just wait till you find out your new $400 toy's date don't line up. Yayyy

Don't forget to drop another $200 to get the movement serviced. Be sure to open this one up and take off the cheezy stickers on the rotor before they gum up the movement like they did on my latest PAM rep.

Yes, if you can't tell, I'm fed up with this watch.

You can get the latest BCE with swiss 7750 for $450, that's a good deal for a great rep.........................................

  5. Nice... I like the hex strap bolts, and the blue lume on the hands! :)

However it seems like the caseback is marked BR03, while dial and buckle is marked BR01?

There are two big problems with this watch - it's marked BR01 as you noted, and it is missing the Date complication.

  6. See my website for all the pricing, it's in my signature.

    RG

Oh I know about your pricing, I'm wondering about the actual cost of the materials. This is NOT to judge you - the work you do requires skills most of us will never have.

    I'm just wondering if that's $5 or $50 worth of superlume :)

    thanks!

  7. If there is an existing coating on a crystal, the coater will return it uncoated and you won't be charged for it. In the first AR run I believe there were two crystals shipped back uncoated for this reason. One was mine, and I was able to remove the coating myself and send it back in run 2. The only concern might be if there is a coating that they don't detect and coat over it. Then I honestly don't know how the result would look.

thanks for the info - well I'll do my best and if it gets sent back uncoated I'll just hope you do another AR Run :)

    cheers,

    Z

  8. I can help on one of them:

    Breitling Bentley GT

    NO AR

Chieftang's got mine now, when I get it back I will post a pic.

The easiest way for me to tell if AR of not is to look at your watch on your arm in a mirror from a few feet away, if the reflected light is blue it has AR.

    Cheers,

    M

thanks for that. I can compare the crystals to the known bentley GT one as well as running your test. I guess I'll just do my best, unless other people can pipe up and tell me if the B&R or Omega have AR.

    thanks again,

    Z

  9. I'm about to send off my crystals for an AR application (thanks chieftang)

I don't want to mess up and send him crystals with AR already on them. I looked and they don't look like they have AR on them, but I wanted your expert opinions.

    These are the watches:

    B&R from josh/andrew, the 46mm version

    Breitling Bentley GT

    Omega SMP chrono

These are pretty common watches and I was hoping some of you guys could let me know if they have AR or not.

    thanks,

    Z

  10. Well... I am.

I'm a webmarketing pro, specialised in the so called 'web 2.0' trend, and this kind of product desing (e.g. involving the final customer in product design phase) is definitely the most up to date in marketing... (even if 'design' is not really appropriate here, since we're talking about rep).

This is indeed a very interesting marketing experience we're seeing here, to my knowledge, no company has yet started such a high end 'web 2.0' product, involving a customer community in product design.

I hope to see more stuff like this here, rep dealers are clearly using the web to its best.

    Congratulations

yah - I knew that one was going to make me unpopular - although go back and check I've given quite a bit of input on the "public" designed watches.

anyway, isn't the web 2.0 trend over now? I support some VC's and do technical due diligence for them occasionally and I'm hearing it's done.
