  1. watchcollecterhk has the best YouTube rep watch videos IMHO. From what I've read posted by others who have dealt with him he's good to deal with- great communication and it seems like he really cares about providing products that are great quality- unlike some of the other trusted dealers like WatchEden (can't remember if they are a TD on here or not). Now I have to look for the video from him to see what it looks like.

Ugh! Hope you're not talking about the ROLEX DEEPSEA CERAMIC BEZEL & MIDLINKS Boooooooooooooooo!

If you're talking about this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl8RUDRZ-Tk&feature=channel_video_title then yes, I like it.

    Difference between this and BK-

dial (I like the markers on this)

    bezel insert

You don't see very many of these dials, and here's a gen for reference...

Hate the pearl but love the rest of it. :)

I don't know what to tell you regarding your questions but when it comes to phones, I'd be hesitant to purchase one from WatchEden or other rep site. If it were me and I only had a certain budget to work with, I'd look to purchase something else that met your needs from a reputable site. The last thing I'd want to worry about in an emergency is if my WatchEden phone was going to help me or not. :g:

  3. I agree about the DW version...

"This first offer from DW is the new model 6238/6239 with asymmetrical push button pushers, logo crown, and powered by a 21,600 BPH (correct beat rate) A7750.

Just like all cases, this also readily accepts genuine parts, pushers, crown, crystal and bezel.

This watch comes fully complete with a 7835 band and clasp. And your choice of black or steel bezel. Your case will be engraved accordingly with your bezel choice

Please check it out at dw-watches.tk under the RWG specials category

Also, please sign up on the website with your RWG username when you order."

  4. All paid for. I hope it doesn't take too long to get here. I've been really down on watches less than around 42mm, throwing insults like "boys watch" and "mid-sized" out there, but it's time to grow up a little. I've been collecting as much information as I can about it and the history is interesting- especially for the Albino which no one wanted but Eric Clapton's sold for $500,00ish. My two goals are to get a gen bracelet on it and see if I can find an excellent black bezel for it. Gen versions of the black bezel are incredibly expensive.

Back to bracelets, I've been considering a Yuki riveted if I can't find a good gen at a reasonable price. The thing that struck me the most in this review was the spring bar guide on the gen- great information.

  5. Means next to nothing. Take a look at the descriptions on this and the next page and the dates they were posted...

Remember that dealers are in it to make a living, not be your best friend. With that said, think of the descriptions as window stickers you'd see on new and used cars. Oooooooooooo! The excitement of it all! Hard to sell a watch described as Pretty Good Edition, Gosh Darn Close Version, Hey- At Least It's Better Than The Last Version :pardon:

  6. The B.O.C. One is a nice Homage. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Even if you don't care for this sort of modification, I think it is a GOOD THING for our hobby, and the watch world in general.

The more "Modified Gen Rolex's" in the wild, the better. The more people having GENs serviced by independents who may choose to use "Aftermarket" service parts the better. While I can appreciate an unmolested "Winder/Safe Queen w/B&P", lets mess with the purists who think using NON-Rolex hands, inserts or bracelets is a cardinal sin. :victory:

The more muddy the water, the better... IMHO. This also sends a big Fsck You you to Rolex and their control freak nature.

The greatest post in rep history. :drinks:

  7. Hublot kills one Leopard for every watch to get the neccessary parts.

If there was a rep, the factory would kill one cat for every rep.

Please protect animals. Do not rep this watch.

LMAO so, I had to put this PETA ad campaign together...

  8. I've been playing with an idea to create a Rolex DEEPSEA that takes the initial design to an unparalleled next level. After months of design considerations, the concept is now complete. I never thought I'd ever find my "grail watch" but it seems that when you least expect it, boom- there it is. :)

    Introducing the Rolex DEEPSEA Tactical™

    DEEPSEA-Tactical.jpg

    Details:

    Satinized Rolex Pro-Hunter dial

    Rolex Tudor Ranger II handset

    Dial and handset superlumed white/green

    Red second hand

    Red print date disk

    Crystal underside single AR coated

Pearl replaced with previous version inset pearl for rigorous stability

    Bead blasted

Bracelet, crown, and bezel are DLC'd

Case receives an extremely durable NATO gun finish

The DLC is being handled by Pbdad going through Avitt. I'll be taking care of the case finish and sourcing the parts- all of which are either on hand or on the way. Ideally, I'd love to have a DSSD dial with custom red DEEPSEA and TACTICAL on it. Someday...

I'm currently looking for someone with excellent luming skills and who can communicate in a timely manner. All those involved will receive full recognition in the final writeup once the project is complete.

  9. Best way to start- find some gen shots to compare it to...

Gen Rolex Submariner 5513's, this model came in two versions- the one with the 200m first on the line is more valuable.

    lb5513-2.jpgWHITESUB1.jpg

    TA377%20-3771.jpg

If you do go with this, please don't be like many others who feel that beating and scratching the crap out of it will make it look more authentic. Too many people do this without doing any research online to see what a true vintage Rolex looks like.

    Cheers

    -Andrew

  10. I agree with your comment, however that stuff hasn't been happening as of late (for quite some time). Am I correct? I don't post a lot, but I just think that with this hobby (that's all it is, we all know the risks/rewards), part of it is being a little discreet and doing some research. What if every "first post" by someone was "will you please look over this QC pic for me and tell me if it's any good???", then where would we be?

First of all, I wholly encourage members on any forum to post QC pics for consideration and advice. To suggest anyone not do so is irresponsible. The other side of the coin is we can offer greater education than the dealer, and the buyer walks into the purchase with wits about them. Uneducated buyers are a bigger PITA when they realize that their expectations were too high. How many of those threads have we read?

Regarding the comment about things that haven't been happening as of late, while reviewing QC pics from WatchEden last week (or so) it was discovered that they were photoshopping those photos. It was also discovered that it was a common practice which they admitted to doing and agreed to stop. (RWI search WatchEden+ThinkBachs)

If anyone has questions about QC pics, post them. If a dealer is apposed to you're doing so and asks that you do not do this, work with another dealer- you want nothing to do with a dealer who is concerned about this. Also note that there are dealers who regularly post QC videos on YouTube for all to see. They have nothing to hide.
