  1. forgot to add -- if you're looking for a solid meal & place for drinks close by, try the hudson cafeteria (at the hudson hotel) -- it's a (very) short walk from your hotel, you can eat outside on their cool patio, and the hangar steak from there is phenomenal deltatahoe
  2. great picture omni; enjoy your stay in nyc deltatahoe
  3. well put lani i think your enthusiasm has allowed you to make a mark on this place well beyond the amount of time you've been here; as others have said before (and even more than usual when you were in the ICU) -- the place wouldn't be the same without you deltatahoe ps, i definitely remember the mp PAVs; the start of a great friendship
  4. i love reading these threads. like lanikai, i certainly don't feel like a veteran -- i found rwg.cc right as the wheels were coming off (highflyingclive of all people took me under his wing and suggested i check out RWG). i nearly bought a watch from some scam site (i can't remember the name of the site, but for some reason i do remember the name of the lady i was emailing with was pamela). anyways, thinking back on rwg.cc i still remember how difficult it was to weed through pages and pages of threads to find a link to joshua's photobucket and his contact information. but to be honest, that was how i expected the replica underworld to operate, with everything being super covert so as to protect the dealers of these high end wares. looking back it is definitely eye-opening how far things have come, with full blown websites and automated payment processors. i will still rarely just place an order via the website without emailing joshua first about it. now that's partly b/c i generally am seeking out random spare parts as part of my purchase, but also because it just feels wierd to order a new watch without some kind of email exchange first. here's another one of my distinct memories from when i first got started (that i'm sure most people can relate to): despite the rave reviews i read about joshua, i'll be honest it was certainly a leap of faith sending that first paypal payment. i sat there thinking, so i'm going to send a couple hundred dollars to this guy in china, and he's going to send me a high quality replica -- despite the fact that i don't know him from adam and he could just as easily pocket my money and ignore all my future emails. i just had a hard time wrapping my brain around the idea of an trustworthy replica watch dealer. then when the watch showed up 5-10 days later, i have to admit -- i was absolutely floored. the rest is history. keep the stories coming folks deltatahoe
  5. hmmm. i'm assuming this is the stock watch with no modifications? hard to say. unless i'm mistaken, i don't think there was anything special about the 063s that EL sourced vs. other versions. i'm assuming these are still available from our collectors today, so i don't think it should fetch much more than $200... deltatahoe
  6. congrats R -- here's to 1,000 more deltatahoe
  7. wow -- i'm just seeing this for the first time too; great submissions guys. like andei, i'd be proud to sport one of these in my signature for a while... deltatahoe
  8. congrats B -- you must be pleased as punch. as they say, you never forget your first looking forward to more pictures (including a lume shot -- i'm assuming only the 3-6-9-12 markers and the hour/minute hands are lumed)? wear it well deltatahoe
  9. wise words by-tor; i couldn't agree more in this regard deltatahoe
  10. when i started collecting reps, i didn't own a single genuine watch. now i own....errr...more than one however for me, in every case except one, i chose my genuines in part because these a decent replica did not exist for that watch and in all likelihood, a decent replica would not exist in the future for any number of reasons... deltatahoe
  11. i think for the american members (and any other folks who have an interest in the NFL, although i'm sure there would be few), a pick-em league would be well received. one of the ones i've done for a while is pretty simple, but a lot of fun. the rules are as follows: essentially, every week you have to select the winner of one game (no spread involved, just the outright winner), and whichever team you pick, you cannot re-pick them for the rest of the season. as you can imagine, picking in the early weeks is pretty easy, but it certainly gets harder as the season goes on, and there is certainly plenty of strategy involved. it probably goes without saying, but if the team you pick loses, you're out of the contest. if people are interested, we could start this up next week (that way everyone had this past weekend to size up all the teams). any thoughts/opinions? deltathaoe
  12. beautiful watches fellas; i'll be joining the torney-rayville club soon deltatahoe
  13. this may be a longshot, but was wondering if anyone in the US is making a davidsen (DSN) order that i could add a caseback to -- i just need one part, so with DSN's payment methods, fees and/or shipping would at least equal the cost of the part. shoot me a PM if you'd be up for me tagging along deltatahoe
  14. you too laz??! seems the 312 is the new new thing these super reps are really something ok i'll stop now. nice gens fellas. congrats deltatahoe
  15. whatever you do, don't let docblackrock anywhere near this thread? deltatahoe ps, upon second glance, i'm pretty sure this is a rep. where's the swan neck??!?
  16. some really good responses -- always fun to hear people's perspective on things like this @toadtorrent, i particularly like your thoughts about each purpose having a particular purpose -- i think (whether i realized it before reading your comments or not) i have a similar perspective on collecting. this shows most in my genuine collection; in selecting my gens, i've been extremely focused on building a collection that has a watch for specific purposes (my current categories are as follows: sporty, casual, everyday, dressy, iconic and birthyear). deltatahoe
  17. so as some of you may have noticed i recently had a pretty major sale of my collection. i had been intending to do this for a little while now -- my collection had grown considerably and while i really loved all of my watches, a significant portion of them weren't getting much wrist time. so as you can imagine, i had to make some tough decisions on which watches deserved to stay, and which ones needed to go. this introspection process made me think of robbieg, who i feel is the epitome of keeping a lean, mean collection (along with ubiquitous). and with robbieg having a rough go of it right now, i figured why not kick off a conversation with members thoughts on what are the driving factors behind their watch collecting. one of the insights i had as i was trying to decide which watches in my collection needed to go was that i had accumulated quite a few watches on rubber straps, and that as someone who wears dress shirts and wool pants to work every day, i just don't have that many opportunities to wear casual watches on rubber straps. i'm not the kind of guy that is going to change watches three times per day over the weekend, so there is just no way all of my casual watches were going to get anywhere near the amount of wrist time as the watches that i feel comfortable wearing to work. anyways, i'm not sure if others have had a similar experience, but i'd be interested to hear about different people's revelations about the driving factors behind which watches you actually wear, versus watches that you like. deltatahoe
  18. not much more to say that hasn't already been said; you have a great community here that clearly cares about you and is hoping (and praying) for the best; hopefully you can draw strength from the community that lies here at RWG all the best, deltatahoe
  19. hi paul, just seeing this thread; you can count me in on this one -- black dial please deltatahoe
  20. certainly isn't a more deserving guy to receive such a kind gift. i was hoping you might have sprung for a certain black lung (please pardon the rhyming) to take some photos with that fancy new book of yours, but just saw nanuq's thread that it ended up outside of RWG's hands glad to see you're on the mend lani deltatahoe
  21. wow -- i have to say i'm pretty surprised they finally repped a sinn i'd be very interested to handle this watch in person -- the genuine is built like a tank (well technically, i guess more like a submarine given it is made with tegimented submarine steel ). i certainly could be wrong, but i'd be surprised if the rep has the same feel as the genuine.... deltatahoe
  22. will be interesting to see how this plays out - kinda like a simplified version of the funny/helpful/zing! ratings from before deltatahoe
  23. fantastic post gio -- so great to see the evolution of your watch collecting experience. and as you've said -- this place wouldn't be the same without all the members that contribute, each in their own way. which brings me to the point of my post -- thanks for all of your contributions -- i know i've frequently benefitted from your helpful threads so when is the next photoshoot? deltatahoe
  24. exactly my thoughts the good thing about buying a watch from bk/wm9 for me is that by the time it arrives, it's like a nice little surprise -- i will have completely forgot about it deltatahoe ps, no chance the seadweller starts shipping in november
  25. welcome to RWG don get ready for some long nights spent reading, and hold onto your wallet -- this hobby can be addicting deltatahoe
