so did you manage to put in an order too before it was sold out? deltatahoe
-
will do. i emailed bill today to see if i managed to secure one of the 10-15 from the first series; i'll post back here when i hear back from him one way or another... deltatahoe

nice find nanuq @col, if you manage to get the lot, shoot me a PM -- i could be interested in one of those dials deltatahoe

i'm probably the only one still checking this thread at this point, but figured i'd post here that the website now says "sold out".... if i did manage to secure one of these you can bet your ass i'll be posting pics when i get it deltatahoe

interesting....thanks for the update did he mention whether or not there were still any more available out of that 10-15 number? thanks in advance, deltatahoe

one interesting tidbit from the page is that this "first series" of the watch will be limited to 10-15 pieces. @coeuss, do you know how long this watch has been available / this page has been up? i'd be curious see if they take down the ordering option after they get 10-15 purchases... they also mention that after the first series, a limited amount will be released each year. i'm wondering if they will change the dial in the subsequent series or if they will simply release a certain amount of the same watch each year....who knows how many "a limted amount" means, but interesting nonetheless. anyways, just some random thoughts i had. also, i just saw these two posts on WUS, which makes me think i may not have made the cut on the first 10-15 pieces one can always hope though deltatahoe

i couldn't resist

i'm pretty sure several people have just pushed the PR hand to the correct position....although from what i've heard it is a little wobbly hope this helps deltatahoe

been on vacation until yesterday; i'm just now seeing this thread i hope you feel better soon R -- hang in there buddy. maybe this downtime would be a good time to catalog your growing watch collection you know, something like this: watch #147 (blue dial steelfish superocean) - in the left sock drawer watch #148 (omega uPO pumpkin) - in locker at gold's gym watch #149 (ziggyfied 3-6-9 mbw 5513) - in shipping envelope ready to be sent to deltatahoe deltatahoe

from the seller's description of the watch (click here for the auction): "You are bidding on Rolex 1680 Vintage Submariner Mens Watch w/ Box Papers. We bought it from original owner's grandson. Papers and tags match up with serial number on the watch. According to the owner this watch was recently repaired at an authorized repair center, although it has no receipts to prove it. Band appears to be later, movement is proper 26J 1570 movement. The private party who sold it to us says the dial was separately purchased from Rolex. Our watchmakers took it off and it is singed Singer, one of the many known signatures on the backs of Rolex dials, but our boss, Mr. Hess thinks the red has been painted on the dial. Our watchmakers think he is wrong. Big arguments here. Since the boss writes the checks I vote for the red being added!" so, what do you think? is the red dial genuine? deltatahoe

i'm not all that familiar with that particular b&r, but i can say that the pam 183h doesn't look like anything special -- i'd guess you can get a similar or better quality watch from one of our collectors for ~$175 or so. hope this helps deltatahoe

nice find marty -- the bracelet looks great jojo is right though -- the endlinks should be 571's. check out my thread here for a (relatively) cheap solution deltatahoe

happy bday!!! deltatahoe

wow -- very interesting. i think this is a very good development -- not only for this watch, but also for the future great to see the factories responding and modding our watches for us deltatahoe

Complete Transformation of an Old Friend, with DLC

wow the way the bezel turned out was the biggest surprise for me -- after your lead in, i was hoping for the best, but expecting the worst congrats to the owner on a brand new watch deltatahoe -
i have to say i am dumbfounded that this thread hasn't gotten more than three responses in five days time am i over-reacting about the potential implications of this news story and the fragile state of our economy? given we are currently issuing treasury bonds hand over fist to fund our budget deficits, news like this (the possibility of japan trying to unload $134 billion of US treasury bonds) scares the bejeezus out of me *runs into the bomb shelter to hide* deltatahoe

a couple random questions for the mods & admin (which i'm guessing are probably related to the pending forum upgrade)... -looks like the supporters trade are is now gone; is there any way retrieve info from those sales listings (e.g. text from my sales post) so i can repost in the broader watches sales forum? -my messenger filled up over the weekend while i was out of town; i just cleaned it up a bit, and yet it still says my messenger is full (despite now having only 929 out of 1000 allowable messages) and i can't send a copy of PMs to my sent mail (and i suspect i still can't receive messages either). which leads me to my last question: are we going to get a new PM inbox with more than a 1000 message limit with this upgrade? thanks a bunch & looking forward to the upgrade deltatahoe

ok that's all i have to say about that deltatahoe ps, let us know how the test goes

"Two Japanese men are detained in Italy after allegedly attempting to take $134 billion worth of U.S. bonds over the border into Switzerland." click here and here for a couple articles about this crazy story what do you think, real or fake? i can't believe i haven't heard anything about this until today (the articles were written over a week ago) deltatahoe

you might try PM'ing one of our resident strapmakers (V, frogman, cajun, etc) to see if they would do it for you... regardless, good luck with the project deltatahoe

i apologize for assuming people had some inkling of common sense my point was that in our dealer vernacular, synthetic sapphire = mineral crystal. i did hear that chuck norris has genuine mined sapphire in all his watches though deltatahoe
-
could you post a description/picture of what "rubbing compound" you used (and a brief description of how you rubbed out the scratch)? thanks in advance deltatahoe
-
fwiw, i'm pretty certain that a pam 212 with sapphire crystal doesn't exist. even the new "made with genuine as sample" version (which for this watch more than others i'm pretty sure is a load of crap) from josh's site (click here) says "synthetic sapphire", which we all know to be mineral crystal. although even the mineral crystal looks pretty stunning with a double AR coating (which also happens to dramatically increase its scratch resistance) hope this helps deltatahoe

no, not terribly important -- i sent him a strap & buckle that has been lost in the mail for well over a month; i was just checking in to see if he had received it.... thanks everyone for your help deltatahoe
