it's manhattan beach i may just take you up on that suggestion -- it's been a couple months since i've had in-n-out. the double double is really something -- arguably the best value in all of fast food. deltatahoe

hey who's calling kate hudson a bimbo!! oh wait she is a cutie though deltatahoe
-
wow ubi -- she is a looker i had no idea you could pick up a royal oak in that price range deltatahoe

i think your mother in law would like the idea of you having a nice dress watch that she bought you; not sure if she knows watches but i would suggest getting a jaeger lecoultre reverso -- at the very least it will sound expensive and prestigious to her seriously, you can find a great jlc dress watch for around $5k if you buy right -- these watches have huge discounts relative to their original retail value (ie. you can get a $9k watch for under $5k). in addition, you are getting an in-house movement from a company that has been making movements for 100+ years. something like this: just my $0.02, deltatahoe

.....so the guy hands me his fiddy and is like, look honey brad has a panerai too definitely looking forward to more watch conversations with him, although he doesn't seem to be an enthusiast -- one his buddies is into pams and he just liked the watch, so he bought it from his friend. it's nice to have good neighbors, although i may have be stealth wearing watches around him until i tell him a little secret about some of my watches deltatahoe

well i haven't seen any of his other watches, but if this watch is any indication, it's possible

i think dluddy is pretty much spot on with his price range. my only other suggestion would be this -- if you're considering doing an RWG auction, i'd set the reserve at a price you would be happy getting for the watch. i sold a somewhat rare piece a couple weeks ago using the RWG auction, and it didn't attract the attention (or price) that i was expecting...kind of disappointing to be honest. i set a relatively low reserve price thinking there is no way it would sell for anything close to that, and to my surprise it came in almost right on top of the reserve regardless, good luck with the sale deltatahoe

thanks guys; it is really nice to get settled into my new place -- i think i'm really going to like it here. @teejay, it's funny you mention having good neighbors. the day i arrived, my next door neighbor was sitting on his porch hanging out with his wife and a couple friends, and about thirty seconds into our conversation he says "let me see that piece of crap watch you've wearing" i was wearing my (thankfully) genuine pam 112 at the time, so i take it off and when i hand it to him, he passes me his watch... anybody want to guess what he was wearing? deltatahoe

this would definitely be big news assuming it got a thumbs up review from ziggy, i'd grab one for my 6263 daytona in a heartbeat (for that inevitable day when my mystery movement dies). @freddy, you know where to potentially purchase one of these? deltatahoe

as many of you know, i've been in the process of moving from san francisco to los angeles for the past month. this picture pretty much sums things up. while i still have a couple more boxes to get through, my new place is finally starting to feel like home. anyways, just wanted to post here and let my friends here at RWG know i'm back in the game given i had to take a break from RWG while moving, i figured the best way to get acclimated again would be to buy a watch so after reading lanikai's great review, i went for the big pilot. the fixed power reserve doesn't bother me one bit, as i plan on having the hand adjusted to the 'full reserve' mark when i get the crystal double AR'd by chieftang. as for the sunken date, i'm not too concerned about that either -- i've lived with the sunken date on other watches before without it bothering me much. so keep an eye out for a review from me sometime in the next couple weeks, complete with a couple family pictures speaking of the iwc family, i received my ingy back from getting double AR coated right before i moved, and all i can say is wow -- this watch looks incredible with a quality AR coating -- the dial absolutely pops. i took a quick picture outside; i think you'll see many more outdoor shots from me in the future -- the natural light is great for taking photos. that's all from me; just wanted to say hello to everyone; it's good to be home one quick final parting shot from my front patio: maybe this move wasn't such a bad idea after all deltatahoe

both are beauties, but i'm with you stephane -- that arabic numbers one is just ziggy, can you give us some background on that watch (ie. model number, approximate year it is from, where the owner got it, etc)? thanks for posting these; i wish i could be a fly on your wall to see all of the watches that pass by your desk -- it must be quite a selection deltatahoe
-
thanks for posting the pics raymond agreed re: the bracelet being to flimsy relative to the rest of the watch. i wonder what this thing would look like on a thick black pam strap (ie. greg stevens black horween)? deltatahoe

@wheaton26, i could be wrong, but i think you're mistaken re: the rarity of the genuine with the fish crown. based on my understanding, the original gen 5002 version just had a simple fish on it (similar to the one on the rep). then, after the 5002 had been out for a couple years, there was a short period of time when they were putting the new 21.6k bph movement along with the new crown in the old 5002 case (and shortly thereafter, released the 5004 version). the 5002 version with the new movement has become known as the "transitional" model, although it is essentially the 5002 with the newer movement and crown. apparently there were only 200-300 of these made, and you will see people on timezone selling these versions at a meaningful premium to the standard 5002 or 5004 models. my feeling is that there are quite a few people trying to sell the transitional model at big premiums, but i'd guess very few are actually being sold at those prices. deltatahoe btw, great review lani

the gen 5002 version just has a simple fish on it (i haven't compared pictures of the rep crown to the genuine simple fish version, but i'm guessing it is probably pretty good), except for the rare transitional 5002 models that had the new updated movement (those have the same newer crown that is on the 5004 model). deltatahoe

um, maybe i'm missing something, but my guess = jesus. reasons why: -"god to some, but out of you I have come" -- born of the virgin mary -"too many lines to trace from where i am from" -- long lineage (matthew 1:1-17) -"just know without you, i wouldn't exist" -- again, born of man? -"outpacing my counterpart on coveted lists" -- maybe reference to muhammed? not sure about this line -"my family tree puts me akin to lies" -- some shady folks in jesus' lineage -"engaged in courtrooms plenty, even summarized" -- jesus was sentenced to death in court -"and sadly the nature of too many lives" -- ?? -"refuge from boredom, and boredom itself" -- ?? -"mimicking me can be bad for your health" -- don't take the lord's name in vain -"i will be here just as long as you are." -- immortal -"your inseparable vehicle, to go off afar." -- maybe a holy spirit reference? deltatahoe

am i the only one that can't see this website? thanks in advance deltatahoe

ubi, i think you hit it right on the head. i think the reason i like vintage rolex better (in general), is because the acrylic crystals have a much 'warmer' feel than their shiny modern counterparts. deltatahoe

how about some color on this one? where did you get this (i'm assuming it's gen)? is that a hornback strap i see? i think it's a nice, understated piece deltatahoe

My perfect Black vintage strap.. the search is over..
deltatahoe replied to V's topic in The Panerai Area
looking good V the following picture really highlights the vintage texture of the strap imho (and to my surprise, i like the look of the having the simona buckle logo-side out)... deltatahoe -
glad you're happy with your new watch corgi EDIT: to remove useless comment deltatahoe

wow kruzer, this is one of the more surprising things i've read in a while. i'm guessing this is a supply related change vs. a material change in demand? this means either i) panerai is taking share like mad (given the economy and what i would predict are generally declining watch sale trends) or ii) these grey market sources have increased supply of these watches and are now better able to meet demand. am i missing something? any thoughts or insights? thanks, deltatahoe

ETA 7753 PAM 188, 196, 250, 251: Experts Needed
deltatahoe replied to dylan's topic in The Panerai Area
hi dave, i could have sworn yellowmen provided a good review of the correct case 196 (for being able to drop in a 7753 movement); i can seem to find it now. in the meantime, there is a thread here and another here about these cases... good luck with the project deltatahoe -
pm me again; problem fixed. deltatahoe

How am "EYE" doing...quick update.
deltatahoe replied to RWG Technical's topic in General Discussion
great news ziggy btw, if you are getting sick of daytime TV, a lot of people are raving about the tv series "mad men" that aired on AMC; the DVDs have been recently released... or, if you're looking for something a little more racy, there is always californication (david duchovny is genius in that show) deltatahoe
