  1. great choice on the 112 as your first pam. 112 is the new 111
  2. a man can dream, right V? deltatahoe
  3. channeling TTK's writing style (maybe this will help).... thanks everyone for the responses....maybe i wasn't clear in my post.....i'm not concerned about waiting a long time for my watch.....i'd just like ttk to give me an update about my watch......an EMS tracking number would suffice.....certainly a reasonable request......it's been a while since the watch has been shipped......4 weeks and counting!!!
  4. well i would say that is a pretty significant flaw @b16a2, if you're looking for a good, accurate pam sub, it might be worth waiting for the pam 252 north pole angus has been working on for a while (although it has been radio silence since late march)...
  5. uummm....i don't own a watch winder, but i wasn't aware that you could over wind automatic watches.....how would constantly being on a watch winder be different that constantly wearing an automatic watch? deltatahoe
  6. great group shot dluddly i need to do the same thing once my 217 & 111h get back from their respective modding adventures btw, is that europelli shell cordovan w/ gold stitching on your 217? i think it's hands down the perfect strap for that watch. deltatahoe
  7. i ordered and paid for a watch from one of our trusted collectors on april 4th; it was to be sent via EMS. now i'm a patient guy, so i waited patiently, and when i hadn't received the watch after three weeks (or any confirmation that the payment had been received, whether or not the watch had been sent, etc), i posted here on april 27th inquiring about an update for the watch. the collector quickly provided an update that the watch had been shipped, but didn't provide the EMS tracking number at that time. since that time (coming up on 4 weeks since the collector indicated the watch was shipped tomorrow), i still haven't received the watch. i emailed the collector on may 14th to see if he would provide the EMS tracking number, and given i hadn't received a response a week later i posted a new inquiry here on monday (may 21st) asking for EMS tracking or some sort of update. i still have not received any communication back from the collector with an EMS tracking number or the status of my watch. so, here's a summary of the timing: april 4th = ordered & paid for watch april 27th = posted on RWG for update; collector indicated watch had been shipped may 14th = emailed collector for EMS tracking may 21th = posted on RWG requesting EMS tracking or update on watch may 24th (today) = still no watch or response from collector i intentionally haven't given the name of the trusted collector to this point, partly given non-VIP probably can't click through the links i provided, but mainly because i didn't want to influence people's view of the situation. regardless, most of you may have surmised by now that ttk is the collector i'm referring to. now i understand that ttk does not claim to hold people's hands or have great communication. however, since i've posted my most recent inquiry about the status of my watch, ttk has posted new watches for sale. to me, it just doesn't seem acceptable that he is posting new watches for sale while he has an existing customer with unresolved issues from an order that is nearly two months old. maybe i'm being unreasonable -- that's why i wanted to post about my experience here and get people's thoughts. for the record, i'm not upset with ttk -- i'd just like to get an EMS tracking number or some sort of update on my watch. given it's been almost 4 weeks since he indicated it was shipped via EMS, i'm assuming it was snagged in customs, so i've pretty much written it off in my mind already. however, it would be nice to have some closure. @ttk, i debated for a while whether or not to make this post, but to be honest, i didn't know how else i was going to get any kind of response from you about my watch. deltatahoe
  8. ditto. @fxrandy, hopefully you're onto something with this asian copy of the valgranges movement
  9. jules borel sells both OEM and generic aftermarket parts. re: OEM bezel inserts, i don't believe jules borel (or any online site for that matter) sells OEM bezel inserts with a click of a button... deltatahoe
  10. wow -- really nice work euno -- it's now a one of a kind piece deltatahoe
  11. i took a really hard look at these, but in the end decided to pass given the 47mm size. how would you say this wears relative to a fiddy? given the lack of crown guard i'm guessing it wears a bit smaller, but would be interested to hear your thoughts... i really like your choice of strap -- the cammello looks great on the watch it is darker than i would have expected from the pics on tcstraps deltatahoe
  12. wow....it must be a sad day when something you really enjoyed no longer has any appeal. deltatahoe
  13. @sssurfer, that's really odd...he must have had lots of customs troubles w/ your country...
  14. note that river's prices are significantly cheaper than the ebay seller sssurfer listed....
  15. i'm a little confused...do you need a springbar for a 26mm buckle, or are you looking for 26mm springbars for the watch case (are the threads in your case stripped?) river sells 26mm springbars for the watch case with faux screw heads; not sure if this is what you're talking about.... deltatahoe
  16. i don't know anything about tags, but i'm guessing pictures would probably help the experts figure out if this watch is a replica or genuine... hoping you've got yourself a genuine... deltatahoe
  17. thanks for the update re: your second costeau diver -- sorry to hear about the bezel problem (thanks for posting about this -- it's something to look out for) -- what about the 12:00 markers -- are they misaligned on the second one you got? i'm curious -- did you go for the white dial or black dial version of the chopard xl? thanks in advance; enjoy the watches deltatahoe
  18. wow....i wouldn't even have the slightest clue what to pay for one of these. i'm guessing you've tried looking for completed listings on ebay to see if anything remotely similar has been sold on the 'bay in the past month? the seller does have a 7 day unconditional return policy, which is comforting (ie. if you felt like you paid to much after buying/receiving the watch, looks like you can send it back).... just a couple thoughts for you. the watch isn't exactly my thing, but would love to see pics of a before/after restoration (similar to ziggy's most recent pocket watch restoration)... deltatahoe
  19. yeah....the strap flexing away from the case is definitely b/c the springbars are too thin....this is why everyone is struggling to get thicker springbars in their straps..... the guy at my local hardware store was able to get my broken springbars out of the strap this afternoon. afterwards, i tried the wd-40 method, and i finally got the 1.8mm springbars in the strap. it still took a little bit of work, but in the end the wd-40 helped immensely. once i got the springbars in the strap, i washed the strap with soap and water; i haven't noticed any wear/tear on the strap from using the wd-40....the strap still smells a little of the wd-40, but at least i have no issues any more with the strap flexing from the case deltatahoe
  20. this is good news. once i get the springbars i broke trying to get them in OUT of my rubber strap, i'll try this wd-40 method. no need to send any -- i got a package of 12 from jules borel too thanks for the suggestions, deltatahoe
  21. while they don't do much for me, the iwc fa jones or mark xv seem to fit your description... i would go for an iwc pilot's watch (3717) deltatahoe
  22. wow -- looks fantastic. your 12:00 markers look very well aligned, as do your day&date windows. thanks for posting pics...i've been waiting for this one for a while; i wanted to make sure the QC issues were sorted out before ordering, but yours looks spot on. EDIT to add, your picture of the caseback actually looks believable. most of the other pics have looked a little off. deltatahoe
  23. wow. it would be such a treat to find a family heirloom like that and have it restored. time to give my grandparents a call and see if they have any old watches deltatahoe
  24. i'm wearing my 112h on greg stevens historic brown today...
  25. you're welcome re: jules borel. wd-40, huh? how easy are you talking? i) just slip them in there no problem, ii) still struggle quite a bit (needle nose pliers needed) iii) somewhere in between? thanks guys... deltatahoe
