  1. interesting. for my dollars, i think i'd stick to the original version. the orange is just too extreme / in your face for me (i feel the same way about the orange PO) deltatahoe
  2. wow. great post ziggy -- the fact that you didn't dismiss "the technician's" suggestions out of hand and actually tried (and documented) his method speaks volumes about your character and work practices. it must have been satisfying to reinforce your strongly held beliefs regarding doing a job the right way... you are an invaluable asset to this forum -- as you mentioned in your post -- it is really difficult for us watch newbies or someone who brings their watch to an "experienced" watchmaker ("the technician's" boss has owned a "watchmaking" shop for many years i believe?) to know the difference between a REAL servicing and a swish & dip. will be interesting to see a response from "the technician" on this one. deltatahoe
  3. i'm sure he'll respond to this thread (assuming he see's it). have you tried contacting him at the email address he's providing in his new sale listings (click here)?
  4. i'd be pretty skeptical on this one......that seller account is suspect....the last feedback is from december 2001; they've never sold anything on ebay (all 22 feedback are from sellers)....buyer beware....if it feels too good to be true, most of the time it probably is.... deltatahoe
  5. i went with the ultimate PO lite from josh and the rubber strap from silix; i have to say i don't think you can find a more attractively priced combo for a great, sporty watch. the bracelet has a quality feel to it, but i like the watch 5x more with the rubber strap. you should know that the uPO lite has a slightly different (asian) datewheel, so it might not be for you if you're picky about perfect date fonts, etc. deltatahoe
  6. i decided on the iwc pilot chrono watch today...
  7. i'm not really sure what benefits there are to different types of springbars. i just went with the double fl@nge.... EDITED to get fl@nge to show up. that's a bizarre word to censor... deltatahoe
  8. @who, the 45mm ultimate PO needs 22mm springbars. no idea about the pins -- i'd just try to measure them and see what you think should work.
  9. i'd keep the 42mm watch (unfixed) and put the dollars towards a new one. then when you eventually send one of your watches to ziggy for mods/servicing/whatever, see if he can fix it for less (ziggy does incredible work for much cheaper than you'd expect).
  10. jules borel has TONS of parts and ordering is super easy (click here for their website)....after you place an order for the first time, they give you a call and get your credit card information; afterwards, they will fill your online orders w/o any additional follow-up. to find their springbars on their site, click "horological" along the left side, then "spring bars - all types" hope this helps. deltatahoe
  11. sorry tt .... i take for granted that these things aren't obvious to everyone. must remind myself: think before posting! :
  12. thanks pugwash...i thought my response would be an obvious "this is a rip off" warning, but given the responses, i don't think people picked up on my sarcasm....
  13. repaustria polished his chrono avenger (see post here for details) before he sold it to me....
  14. wow!!!! only $495 for a REAL SWISS replica rolex?!!?!!
  15. great comparison shots elprimerozen! you're right -- they're both beautiful
  16. interesting. i noticed that the springbar was loose on mine too and figured that was the problem (the other side of the strap didn't have that issue & the springbar wasn't loose); i tried wrapping my springbar in masking tape to make it thicker, but couldn't get it to go in the strap without the masking tape peeling off. now that you've confirmed that this fixes the problem, maybe i will try some more sturdy tape this time
  17. ummm.....that it looks AMAZING beautiful watch reelamore
  18. up to par? have you seen any/many of the new reps out of the factory that's making these super reps lately (ie. HBB, chronomat evolution, steelfish superocean, probably EL's iwc 3717)? they are IMPRESSIVE right out of the box far beyond most other standard reps. i think the costeau divers will be no exception. but to address your other thoughts/concerns: re: lume, i'm the first one to hope for quality lume on this thing -- i think it is an important part of this rep. will it be super luminova? doubtful. but if the lume is the same quality as EL's 3717, i think i'll be satisfied. re: servicing the movement, this is a "to each his own" type question. i haven't had any issues with any of my new asian 7750 movements (know on wood) out of the box. if/when i do have any issues, i'll have them serviced, or better yet, put in a genuine eta 7750 (ziggy put the myth that this isn't possible to bed in his post here). re: new datewheel, the datewheels are very expensive from cousins (maybe $5), and not all of us are that nitpicky.... just my $0.02 deltatahoe
  19. well so much for my idea of writing a review and helping out the forum re: another pvd coating option. @chieftang, definitely keep us updated re: potential pvd coating options...
  20. i'll confirm i have this issue as well (was going to post about it but didn't find the time)....however, it doesn't really happen on mine unless i squeeze the strap at the lugs (to try to make it conform to my skinny wrists!!).. deltatahoe
  21. if you look at the original post, he wasn't moaning or complaining at all -- he was asking if finepics is willing to take on any more work. i actually agree with you about the whole complaining thing....just thought your comment was a little ironic given you have a whole thread where you've been complaining about having issues with getting your iwc 3717. this is not to say that your frustration isn't warranted -- i would be frustrated too if i were going through the same thing. deltatahoe
  22. looks great bytor i'm curious -- is that pre or post any photoshop adjustments?
  23. this sounds fishy. cash in an envelope as one option, maybe, but the ONLY option? doesn't sound like any of our trusted "watch collectors". deltatahoe
  24. ummm....look in the mirror watcher. everyone has something to complain about once in a while.
