The Iwc Aquatimer Chronograph Cousteau Divers
deltatahoe replied to PureTime's topic in The IWC Area
a discussion about the correlation between price and number of pieces sold could be helpful.... i realize this is simplifying things a little bit, but here is an example: scenario 1 price = $450 cost = $250 number of pieces sold = 10 profit = $2,000 scenario 2 price = $350 cost = $250 number of pieces sold = 30 profit = $3,000 this doesn't even take into account the leveraging of fixed costs as you sell more pieces -- in scenario 2, your cost per watch should be decreasing given all costs are not variable. i think the assumption that you could sell 3x of this watch if the price is $100 cheaper is also pretty valid.... feel free to print and show to maker deltatahoe -

more new toys? thanks for the update angus; be tough on the maker (get the flaws fixed!) -- i think you'll find lots of eager customers on this one assuming the price isn't outrageous (while you're arguing about getting the flaws corrected, would be good to argue about a fair price too ). -
No longer a Noob, Not Yet a Paneraisti
deltatahoe replied to seanf's topic in Introduction/Rules/Support
quality first post sean. i'd say welcome to RWG but it's a little late for that. to address your panerai rant, i propose you try the following: i) buy a $100 panerai from the member trade forum, ii) spend the same amount on a nice strap (see if you can find a used mario paci or greg stevens), iii) wear the nice strap & panerai combo for one week. if you feel the same way that you do now after a week wearing the panerai, i'd really be surprised. worst case scenario = you sell the combo here on RWG for a $25 loss. try it -- i dare you deltatahoe -
i just cleaned it out; thanks for posting here -- i've heard back from everyone, and will place the order right now! the wait begins. deltatahoe

i just sent a PM to everyone (i used the cc: function; i think it worked but just to make sure, i'll post the message here too) with the following update: ------------------ hello, first off, i hope everyone had a nice easter. thanks for your interest in the combined shipping group buy for the 22mm pp rubber strap group buy. i heard back from silix today, and here is what he said: "The express is US$28 for one to four straps, and 7 for US$33, 10 for US$38. We offer volume discount for order more than 15 strap, 5 % off. Let me know. Happy Easter." fortunately, exactly 9 other people have contacted me about wanting to ship the strap (either in this thread or via PM): 1) deltatahoe 2) rocket754 3) Dario33 4) cypher 5) keenan435 6) Bignasty 7) who e30m3 9) shultzie 10) Xac so here is the breakdown: $38 express shipping for 10 straps divided by 10 people = $3.80 per person. fortunately for you guys, i have extremely cheap shipping via UPS through my work, and can ship a letter sized package via overnight mail to just about anywhere in the US for about $6. so once i get the straps from silix, i will ship you your strap via one of two methods: i) standard airmail shipping -- total strap cost = $40 ($35 for strap, $3.80 for shipping from china, $1.20 for airmail shipping) ii) overnight UPS shipping -- total strap cost = $45 (($35 for strap, $3.80 for shipping from china, $6 for overnight shipping) i am happy to accept cashier's checks, money orders or paypal; if you use paypal, please add 3% to the total amount to cover my paypal fees (ie. if using standard shipping, it would be $41.20, if using UPS overnight, it would be $46.35). let me know which you would prefer. thanks; looking forward to getting this strap!! please PM me ASAP to confirm your participation in this group purchase; i will send silix payment once i've heard back from everyone. deltatahoe ------------------

i still haven't heard back from silix re: whether they can ship more than four straps in an express package. i'll post here and send a PM out to everyone who has contacted me about this (or posted in this thread) as soon as i hear back. deltatahoe

i sent him an email with all of the comments that have been made so far.... -
given most of my watches are off at ziggy's getting worked on, i'll probably rotate between these two new watches this weekend: classy (iwc pilot's watch) sporty (suunto x6hr) deltatahoe

wow looking good angus....thanks for all your hard work on this -- we're almost there (see comments above). i think the most noticeable error is the minute marker being too close to the 10 (on the right side) on the inner bezel. deltatahoe -
anything in particular you're wondering about? i can remember when i first found this forum -- there were so many abbreviations -- it was definitely intimidating. why don't you list the ones you're curious about; i'll do my best to answer them for you.... welcome to RWG bebebe deltatahoe

thanks for the interest guys. i'm going to email silix now; if they can ship more than four in an express package, then i am willing to accept more participants. i'll let you guys know what/when i find out. deltatahoe

i got a PM from another member who is interested; we've got our three. PM sent fellas

i'd like to order one of the omega PO straps from silix, but would rather not pay $16 for airmail (or $28 for express) shipping just for a strap. silix can ship up to four straps in one shipment; was wondering if there are three other people in the US (or even better, california) that would like to split the shipping on this strap -- one of us could order four of them and then ship out the straps to the others... anyone interested in doing this, or am i being too cheap? deltatahoe

PAM 666 - Final Spread - Strap + Enhanced Photos
deltatahoe replied to fotoman's topic in The Panerai Area
i was thinking the same thing. imho this thing belongs on a black rubber strap, but to each his own! interesting watch phoband -- one of a kind! deltatahoe -
@teejay, you are on quite the crusade. quit crapping in richard_uk's thread.
-
nice pics (especially the watch box shot -- i haven't been able to take a decent picture of my watches in my watch box) and good looking collection. thanks for sharing deltatahoe
-
@shultzie, where did you get the titanium buckle? did it come on the rep strap?
-
accurate or not, the white dial is beautiful....especially with a nice crocodile strap (imho an ideal dress watch)
-
@shultzie, is that a titanium buckle on your kevlar strap? it's hard to tell from the pictures, but it doesn't look shiny at all....
-
just measured my 3717; it is 22mm at the lugs... i think a BOB pilot watch strap could look pretty sweet on the 3717... deltatahoe
-
i'd be curious to hear any other people's experiences / thoughts re: crown & thread issues on the steelfish (it is probably going to be my next rep)... @shultz, how about some black on gen black rubber pics of your new steelfish??!?!
-
@sssurfer, no love for the opening poster?

hi guys, anybody know what the correct AR coating on the 217 should be? not sure if it should be single or double sided. i had assumed it was single sided, but figured i'd ask to see if anyone knows for sure (i checked the panerai website and it just says "antireflective coating").... thanks in advance, deltatahoe
-
thanks for the responses guys....good to know re: the fiddy crystal fitting in the 203 case. i'm not that concerned about the brown dial -- i just like the look of the watch & would like to have an AR coated sapphire crystal... brad
