  1. How about charge a premium that gets returned if there is no customs problems? eg. pay extra refundable $100 that is returned if customs seize the watch... if not, then the money is returned or put towards your next purchase, choice of the customer.
  2. Well, it's been a while since I learned French in school (for 5 years... and had a teacher from France. Everyone hated her!). Now it's just word for word translation i my head.. so reading and writing is not too bad... speaking and listening is awful now! And on top of that I usually end up halfway drifting into Spanish!
  3. It's definitely gonna stop me, I'm not paying $400 for an unreliable asian copy movement of the ETA 2836. I'm still wary of the Asian 7750s! That's probably a good stance to take!
  4. Nowadays, watch houses are in the business of making money. If inspiration for a watch design comes from a porthole, or from an aeroplane, the watch houses want to buy it regardless of your own interests or profession.
  5. It's very unlike Pugwash to read a thread like this, and not leave his own unique stamp. I hope he is ok... GET WELL SOON PUG! "dun be a pug"
  6. l'll need Breitling datewheels for: titanium Chrono Avenger titanium Avenger Seawolf steel Steelfish Superocean steel Chronomat Evolution and if there is ever a great PVD skyland (or one I can get done by Rolli), one for that...
  7. Once ETAs dry up and my supply of ETA 7750s is depleted, I'll probably be out of the rep game Perhaps the only thing that may tempt me are cheaper Asian 7750s if I can get a The Zigmeister service... otherwise that's it, they are expensive enough already... HBBs with Asian movements going for 1000+, new "lesser" chronos out at around 400
  8. Funny, but sadly true And The Zigmeister, self-deprecating as ever...
  9. A question for you... have you weighed one of these watches? And if so, what is the weight? I've been told by a collector that the steel/titanium rep is around 140g... I think I saw this figure for the genuine too but haven't relocated the website. Thanks!
  10. I remember Dave... He looked at a watch for me that I'd got from silix. Haven't emailed in over a year so details are way out of date. Ask silix, maybe they can get you in touch with him again? I managed to get hold of tonton on the phone last week, but he's being sent all over the country so it's difficult to find him There was supposed to be a watchsmith down Picadilly Circus tube station but I never did go and find out. If you still need tonton's number (and believe me, it is very hard to get hold of him), I can pass it on.. orjust email him.
  11. Thanks for the info, M. Perhaps you could get a Rolli PVD? His one's true PVD and top quality.
  12. have you asked your friend tonton yet? I know he's hard to get hold of lately, but doesn't he have someone who works on his watches? He does mainly services I think.
  13. I wouldn't join a non-US army... I have more chance of getting "friendly" fire that way - and why not call it what it is... incompetence. Words and phrases like "Friendly fire" and "collateral damage" dehumanise what has been done
  14. Did I get this watch from you ? Pardon my poor memory! Anyway, it's a great watch ! Big solid piece... does the genuine have AR? It is worth consideration.. as well as relume etc, but a better strap would really make it. Gotta go back to work now !
  15. Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... No, I'm just not comfortable and trouser, shirt, shoes, so them seeing me walk in with an Argentina soccer shirt with Puma trainers, for example, would make them suspicious. Didn't have a problem taking Omegas in for a service at the Omega Boutique however.
  16. Didn't know you were also in London I should go down there... but the way I dress, they'll be suspicious of me
  17. Agreed. Change the dollar sign to a GBP sign for the price in the UK... Cool! Americans used to make fun of Italians for their Vespas, good to see you're not one of them! They already have workers going on strike due to pay and conditions... wait til they organize and unionize and stand up to the thugs that try to stop them... rising prices and cost of living... I hear you.
  18. That deserves a Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... I only had 1 eye done and it was lasek I really should edit that signature... still no luck with Greek girls
  19. Yes, I missed out a zero in error! But still, lucky the debt isn't a true billion
