A Review of the New Omega Chrono Movement
b16a2 replied to Francisco's topic in Francisco's Reviews And Tutorials
Francisco thank you for this review! It seems strange that they don't put a jewel under the gear, but they always put one on the top plate. Putting a jewel under the gear is such a simple solution to make it an even better movement but they choose to skeletonise the gear instead!? Hopefully the increased friction caused by this will be minimal and it's good to hear that you think it's more reliable than both the AP and the Porto! -
stupid question..how do i tell if i have a upo 45mm?
b16a2 replied to SPARKYMARKY's topic in The Omega Area
I have just measured my Planet Ocean which is a 45mm, and to the outside of the bezel it is also approx 43mm. I think on the PO's they measure it to the casing rather than the bezel, therefore the integrated crown guards make up the extra 1.5-2mm of the measurement. -
Congrats on the purchase, it's a great watch! As for the links, I broke my link remover tool on my old UPO....not to mention the marks I left on my desk haha I would recommened taking it to a watchmaker if you're having difficulty as they should have the right tools. Although they're hard to get out, the pins are very easy to bend, which isn't a good combination!

I think the only thing that might tempt me in the way of the black version (which would be the 2264 if it's quartz) would be that it has been discontinued. However, the 2254 (auto) version does crop up frequently, and again, this is what I would go for. Even if I had the option between a 2531 (blue) and 2254 (black) auto, the 2531 would win everytime (for me personally) There is something about the blue SMP....it's really really nice in the flesh!

Absolutely go for the automatic model. They hold their resale value much better, and you're also getting a piece of mechanical wisdom. I would be very reluctant to spend that much on an Omega quartz, whereas for

I would recommend sticking to teh watches in the Navitimer/Windrider families. The Navitimer itself is a nice watch, and the Chronomat is too. They are among the less bulky looking Breitlings out there and should look more at home on your wrist.

+1 one on that. The only way to get hold of this watch is to go the genuine route. I know a couple of people have, and they have remarked at how well built the watch it. Certainly one of the nicest diving watches out there!

Can't get the link to work, do you have the item number? -
Congrats SMC. These wear really nicely!

Absolutely stunning! With regards to the AR, it looks to be the upgraded dial with the curved numbers, which would indicate that the gen would also have had a double AR coating as it was the later models that came with this dial. You'll also need to upgrade the crown for a 100% rep as the newer batch of 3714's came with the newer crown, not the one with just the fish on it. As for the caseback tutorial, search for the post under the member name of 'Avitt' it was he who also had a beautiful 3714 and did the tutorial on the brushed caseback process. I can't wait to see more pictures of this one, congrats Yellomen, I am very envious!!

The strangest thing is, I thought of Subways as I read the title, and even stranger is the fact that the Pizza one was always my favourite haha I haven't had one for a while, a trip into town tomorrow might be in order

None at all. Having owned the UPO (quite a few haha) I didn't think I would be that impressed by the gen because the UPO is built really well. However, it really did exceed my expectations, the fit and finish is really very good, Im really pleased with it. When you get the UPO see how you like it. Personally I couldn't live with the little flaws, I think it is perhaps because I adore the genuine so much, so it never quite met that level. However, if you don't mind the little flaws there really is no reason to get the genuine. The UPO keeps great time (usually) and it is built very well. With a double AR coating, on the wrist it looks almost everybit as good as the genuine. I was certainly shocked at howmuch better the UPO looks with an AR coating when I got Bwhitesox's Orange PO. The double AR completely transforms the replica from a good rep, to a great rep!

The AR on the Ultimate V3 Chronomat, and the V2 Skyland is very good. I wouldn't take them anywhere near water without having them pressure tested. Having said that, if you got it wet whilst washing your hands you'd be very unlucky if this were to seep into the watch.

The PO really draws you in, once you have owned one, even if you sell it, you can't get them out of your system. My favourite divers watch by a mile!

Sporting the PO all weekend;

Once Chieftang has worked his magic on the crystal you'll love it, the AR makes ALOT of difference n this watch! Cheers B, certainly a very good buy at the moment. If you keep your eyes peeled on TZ, they crop up for good prices now and again! PS - your AR is still better than the one I have on this one though!

...any excuse to think of the bond girls ToadTorrent Here's two for you;

I can see why you fell in love with it again! What are the specs of this one, it looks very good?!

I bought this one from Surrey. With regards to the local incident it's sickening isn't it! They have a security guy outside the door now, quite a friendly chap. Have you been inside recently, they have changed the layout of it, it's really nice in there now.

@TT - I think that's my favourite too, it looks like it's on the beach, but it's really in my back garden @Ammandel - Yes Robbie's is very nice and the leather straps do look awesome so I think Il follow your advice there and get a couple so that I can rotate them a bit! With regards to the bracelet, it just doesn't give enough contrast. I used to really like my watches on bracelets, but at the moment I much prefer them to be on leather or rubber, it just offers me a little more visual impact when it's on the wrist. @everyone else, thanks for your kind words!

Nice gen SQ!! The 112 is a classic, such smooth lines! Wear it well.

Over the years on the replica boards, I have owned numerous Planet Oceans, from the 4th gen, through various versions of the UPO; from the UPO Lite to Bwhitesox

That's the way I would go about it. It might even list an email address in his signature, I can't remember off of the top of my head though.

No that's not DSN's website. As far as I know he only has a photobucket album and a blog website, no online ordering service. Pam111 is Paul's website.
