  1. To be honest, no, not really. All I know is that it is what controls the time/date, thats about it. Thanks!
  2. OK, I guess I will just live with it then. Thanks for the great info as always!
  3. I got a Black on Black Planet Ocean, and I just played with it for the first time. I set the date/time, but now I can't get the Crown all the way back into the watch. When I push it back to the first position and screw clockwise, I hear clicks, but it doesn't advance the needle farther into the watch. Is this a problem or am I doing something wrong? Thanks so much in advance!
  4. I saw HelloReplica on YouTube doing up close video reviews. Can anyone comment on their reliability? Thanks!
  5. Sounds about right for my situation. I think Chronos are cool, but I'd rather have a "normal" second hand counting the seconds. I was just wondering what a 2,5,7 Chrono or the other Chronos on this watch represent.
  6. The original owner told me the Chronos don't work, but I was just curious as to what they were supposed to do. He has no idea, but doesn't think it involves days or months.
  7. I don't have the watch yet, its on its way. The original owner said it has to do with seconds, but I don't see any set of #s that resemble seconds.
  8. I just bought this from a member, my first ever Rep. Looking forward to getting it. I have a few questions that I thought would be best suited for this forum: What model is this a rep of? It has a Black Dial, with 007 on the end of the second hand. What are the three dials of the chronograph counting? I've been told the Chronos do not work, but I'd still like to know what they do. Here is what I've come up with: 12, 8, 4 on the 3 oclock position - 12 hour blocks? 12 months? 24, 6, 12, 18 at the 6 oclock position - Daily Hours? Total Days of month? 7, 5, 2 on the 9 oclock position - Days of the week? - What could be the purpose of this, does this combine with Total Days to equal a max of 31 days? The only combination of the three I can come up with is months, days, and days? Does that make sense?
  9. Thanks fxr and teejay, I'm sure there will be tons of watches that catch me eye. I just bought my first rep from a member on here, an Auto Omega SMP Chrono. Start of an addicting hobby!!!
  10. Thanks TeeJay, I appreciate your insight. I guess we'll see. If I find a nice Quartz, I'd def. go with that but if not, I guess its not so annoying. Thanks for the pic too. I'm gonna check out Chinatown NYC to get a better view of selection.
  11. OK, this isn't looking good. I'm gonna have to go with Automatic eventhough I think I'll be resetting it every time I wear it.
  12. Interesting, thanks. Anyone else seen any rep Omegas with Quartz? Do you think it is necessary to get a quartz powered watch if I will only be wearing it for 8-9 hours/day. Thanks!
  13. Wow thats helpful, thanks. So on a chronograph watch, the second hand is not the normal second hand that would be found on a wall clock. The second hand will basically always be at 12 and the way to read the time in seconds in the 9 o clock in this example. Thanks!
  14. Before you flame me for being a noob, I searched and searched, but I couldn't find the most basic answer for this simple question. I googled and checked on Wikipedia, but I couldn't figure out more than a few points... What exactly is a Chronograph? Is it just a stopwatch>? I checked the noob glossary in the sticky, but nothing good. From the Glossary:
  15. Thanks for the response. So basically, I'm out of luck - there are no quartz reps?
  16. I'm a complete noob in the area of watches, but I've been reading a lot about Omegas. I really want my first rep to be a 007 Style Seamaster or the Seamaster worn in Casino Royale. I've read about automatics and somewhat know how they function, but I don't think they will work for me. I don't want to have to worry about resetting the watch if I only wear it for 8-9 hours a day. So, are there any Quartz (battery?) Omega reps? Am I right to think that Automatics will need to be reset if worn for that amount of time, weekdays only and maybe a few hours on the weekend? I'm a college kid, so I don't dress up to go to class, but I'll be graduating soon and getting a real job. The only time I can see myself wearing the watch is to work 9-5 or go out on the weekend nights. Thanks!
  17. Hey RWG Community...I've always been a big fan of watches and since I'm graduating from College and going into the real world, I thought I'd get myself a nice grad present. Huge Bond fan so probably going with the Seamaster Brosnan/Craig wore/wears. I've been reading for a day or so and I think I'm beginning to understand the basics and lingo. Just a quick question - personal view but do you think you could argue your watch being the real deal if someone were to say that omega is fake/rep/etc? By looking at some of the respectable sources and the Gens, I could never tell the difference. I'm surprised Reps are > $100, but if they are as good as they look, its worth it. Thanks all.
