  1. I think Chief got it from Flav, who did the mod himself, for the cross that is? or I could have remembered it wrong. Chief would be the best guy to answer that......of course, I am just butting in.
  2. I did stilty, take a look at my original post, but no go there too, at least for now, I was told.
  3. This is a good topic, and I am learning more about the 2846 movement, hacking, non hacking, plus how old 1570s behave. I am planning on buying two of them, and both Ofrei and Jules Borel that Randy had referred me to are out of stock at this time. Anyone else have any suggestions? PS. Ofrei did tell me to check bak in 2 weeks, so I hope they would have it in stock then.
  4. I know which one of three I won't get, and that would be the MB. The other two in my opinion are both fine. With the IWC, you could be dealing with a misaligned datewheel, so if you think that "could" bother you, go with the Tag.
  5. Where did you score the dial Szumi? I would love that look versus the grey dial also? PM me if you do not want to disclose in the thread. Thanks!
  6. Ahhhh, I now find this thread. You are moving fast there my friend. Check your PM.....
  7. Wow Kurt, That was fast, you sure do get to work quickly. Great work, just like that DRSD. I wish my 1680 looks like that.......
  8. What else can be modded? Nothing. It is a great watch Flav. And that is pretty much what I have done to my 005 and 036. Now, if the reps can have better fonts and size for Officine Panerai on that engraving, it really would be perfect. Please do post pics when you have the gen, versus the rep. That would be a great thread.
  9. Hi Euno, good to see you back. This project of yours looks superb. I've never thought so much about getting a XV, because I always thought the rep looks a bit "cheap", but yours truly looks great. I am very jealous.....
  10. Nice work Pug. They look great.
  11. nice one Pug, thanks for the link.
  12. Eddie = Unicorn. I hope that is as plain and simple as they come.
  13. That is one pretty gunked up movement. Rob, on the 2671 that I had thought I had sent in, you told me it was actually a 2688. Was my wife's as dirty as the one that you shown here, that caused the winding issue? Just curious.
  14. Here is one on TZ............it may be different year in production. But that style of hour hand definitely exist, and they can be non white second hand. like the other poster said, with such a small second hand, it defeats the purpose of having it white against white. http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tre...ev=&reveal=
  15. what is the gen site you are looking at teddy? those XV can have a flat hour hand, and the bracelet finish looks rather good, the gen site I looked at had non white second hand, if I were to still "guess" I'd say that is a gen.
  16. Agree with all above, phoband said it best and first, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  17. Well Chad, in your defense, if you get nasty PMs from other members, then I would certainly feel bad, as that is clearly not necessary in my opinion. good luck to you.
  18. Dear watchmeisters....... Thanks guys for your great effort. Just wanted to extend a sincere thank you. Look forward to many future great projects.
  19. So, here are the things that we know for sure thus far....... 1. the pilot chrono looks good, just like many other recent chrono reps. 2. the day/date wheel may not be perfect, luck of the draw. 3. the sky is blue. 4. there are a lot of people that watch this show called "American Idol" 5. chad will never, ever truly be happy with his pilot chrono, no matter what. Chad, seriously, your expectations are just too high, it really may be time for you to get the gen. And even gen don't guarantee your perfect aligned datewheel, although they will kiss your ass, and fix it for you, that is what you get for paying for a gen. more ass kissing service. how are you going to get a close to perfect rep? just think of the factories worker that put together this watch, do you think they make anywhere near the swiss watchsmith that put together the gen chrono, and even then, mistakes can and will happen. just my .2 cents as I think you really may need to think about why you are buying reps. This watch is one of my favorites and I may really get it. Please don't let some imperfections disappoint you. I have complained about the datewheel alignment too, but I try to be upbeat about it, and of course, you can always take it to a good watchsmith that may be able to fix your potential problem. On a side note, I thought that the sub dial chrono hands were supposed to be lumed, but I could not confirm it in the photos, can anyone confirm or deny that? Thanks in advance.
  20. This is a illegal activity that we love so much. Make no mistake about it. But as if you were to ask me just how bad I feel, maybe not as bad as I should feel. I do feel what some of the other posters have said, such as "sticking it to the man", but the more common one, now that reps are getting better, is wow, it really may not be worth it to spend $ XXX on brand XYZ. Unless you really are talking about complications, I feel that luxury brand watches really have a pretty decent profit return. Who's to say that reps don't? I have a few gens, and I'm sure I would buy more in the future, but probably not on brands or models that can be repped. I am very happy with several of the rep Pams that I own. But would I buy a gen Panerai? Maybe not, given that from their movements standpoint, it was not that technically different from the base movement. Now with those new in house movements maybe, but we all know that if they were asking XXX dollars for ETA based movements, it is only going to cost more with their in house movements, and I am sure every single model would be limited edition.....
  21. PM Sent for two Randy. COME TO PAPA!!!!!!
  22. Dear All, 30 minute not true friend. You wait to I ready to email you back. No worries. All the best, and buy more from my crazy sell...... Paul
  23. As a person who has done a few of my watches, I can tell you that Zig man is very mild mannered. For him to say the stuff he said in the early posts, showed that you have [censored] him off beyond limits Panerailord...(BTW, are you related to HeWhoIsLikeGod?) changing email address and lie about your location? That was pretty persistent I must say. And I still can't believe Zigs give you another chance. Like others said, please do this right, and hope you have learned a lesson from your past mistakes....Don't mess it up again. Zig is a man of patience, and that is something that you need to learn as well, because it appears that lack of patience is your downfall in the past with other fine members on the board.
