  1. Interesting tidbit; I might just take that approach. Thanks. Hard for me to spend $100, when the problem could possibly resurface again. I just recently found a watchmaker in my home town. Don't know if he's rep friendly or not. But might be worth a shot! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks for the feedback. The problem is I would not know how to go about fixing this. I can't take it to a Breitling AD. I certainly don't have the parts for it either. I'd be content to not fix this at all. Any other suggestion on how to go about addressing this? I don't think I will ever buy a steelfish going forward. So perhaps I should just cut my losses then? 3. Josh told me that it would not be possible. He said that is what the factory told him. Do you think they could be wrong? I would think however that they would be the only place that can fix this. I don't think an ordinary watch shop can fix something like this without parts. Can they? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Hello all, So to keep a story short, I have a black Breitling steelfish (with square marker second hand) that had suffered stripped crown, and I cannot screw it down anymore. I sent it back to Josh, and was told the whole case needs to be replaced, at a total of $100. Just wanted to check and see if you gents think it's worth the repair. No, I've owned the watch for quite some time. Is it wear and tear? Sure. But I really have worn the watch a handful of times. And I am afraid if I repair it, it will suffer the same fate. Josh told me it would come with 6 month warranty on the case. What do you guys think? Should I have it repaired? Or cut my loss and just sell it broken instead?

  6. Hello ladies, and gents: It's been a while since I posted, hope everyone is doing good. I've recently gotten my friend to bit the watch bug, and he has been collecting a few pieces here and there. We were talking just the other day, of which I thought was an interesting topic. I thought I'd post here and get some opinions and such. As we know there are quite a few grey watch dealers on the internet, such as Joma shop, prestige time, and authentic watches to name a few. We got to talking and we talked about how they are able to set up shop, and just what kind of capital it needs. For example, we always see these sites carry many different brands. Do you guys think that they would always have these watches in stock? Or do you think they will first get the web order in, then go to their AD supplier and buy it at a discount? Do you think just like AD, they have to buy certain amount of watches, equaling dollar amount, to maintain that relationship with the supplier AD? Or do you think they simply pick and choose pieces that have generous discounts, and work from there? And what do you guys how much they need in order to start a company like these? I'm always curious about some of these things myself, but never got to ask them until I had this conversation with my friend. All input/insight/comment welcomed!
  7. Wow, that is very sad news Condolences to Alan's family.
  8. Never left, I just do not post as much. And haven't bought reps for some time. But this is home. We'd really have a party if ubi shows up lol
  9. Always great to see old members come back. I myself have stopped buying reps for some time. The question of who has the best sub almost made me spill my drink lol Those were the days.......by the way, I ran into Jetmid the other day. I hope I still got the spelling of his name right. Cause he blessed me with his presence. Also got to read the 16 pegs this morning of the modder MD saga. Very sad. Hope things turn for the better for those members.
  10. Good luck; glad to know that he shipped out the watch, but nonetheless it sounded super fishy. I'd make sure that when you received the watch, it is in good working condition. Please keep us posted.
  11. Always educational; thanks R. by the way, I would really hate it if it came from the factory that way. that would totally suck, because I am sure the dealers will ask you to pay for the shipping back to China.
  12. I am a newb; and I am still mad at Jetmid for stealing my gf, after he busted out his awesome Patek. Now he is nowhere to be found. Where the hell are you, Jetmid? Show yourself!!!!!
  13. Red, thanks for the review; I could've sworn when I was looking at your first pic, I said, "hey, that does not look like a sandwich dial at all!" of course, we quickly see the dial in the second picture.... I am also in the camp that is looking for the base 000 as well. I had checked with Josh via email. he told me that it may be coming out next month, so those of you that are in the same boat as me, stay tuned I suppose, and see if the rumors do come true. That is one fantastic looking 112 right out of the box! Congrats. Edit: Wow, that was my 700th posts? I know it is a tiny number compared to some of you old timers, but I don't think I have accrued 700 posts in any of the forums I participated in. I think the most post that I have in any other internet forum is less than 300 posts. And how fitting, most posts in the forum that I do love most.....
  14. speaking of music, does any of our EU members have a Spotify invite they can send me via PM possibly, since it's been launched in the US today? and right now, I am listening to Voodoo People from Prodigy, on random play.
  15. did you guys all order the rubber strap option? I have always liked bracelets on my watches, except a few. Was actually thinking about ordering the bracelet and then the rubber strap separately. what did you guys choose on the strap option?
  16. RIP Doug, hope you will encounter many other good reps up there, and not the Canal street crap. condolences to his family. and thank you Andrew for your gestures to Doug, and posting this story.
  17. nobody beats my ultra franken 1:1, swiss AAAAA+++++ plus 1 grade watch..... and have I mentioned that it's ultimate?
  18. agree with others, buy what you like and don't necessarily look at it from the investment angle. if investment is what you are after, get a patek. those are pretty safe, as investment. otherwise just buy what speaks to you. good luck.
  19. I think it is important only if the gen counterpart has it. So if the gen 3717 has double AR, then that should be something one "strive" for. now if you ask me if I would want to get my SMP or SMP chrono, then I would say no. simply because "some" of their gen counterpart do not have AR, imo.
  20. I agree with ubi. let's say he does get called out by someone. it really just gives the rep community a bad name. and we know there are plenty of "holier than thou" gen owners there, so why go tread in their waters. it's just asking for trouble in my opinion. I find it funny though that the rep 112 is rather blurry. I think I am going to read what that poster's previous 9 posts were about. reading pleasure on a late friday night I'd tell ya!
  21. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=127082 take a look at post from "Bdel" with 10 posts, posting a pam 112 on wrist check day. now why oh why do we still have dbags that like to pull these kinds of stunts? why can't they ever learn to just stay in the rep world instead? sorry, just my pet peeve. ok, rant over! as much as I'd like to bust him for these childish things....I'd figured I'd just let it be.
  22. I tried the link and it still works; remove the 2 x's between h and p at the beginning, and replace them with 2 t's.
