  1. Ok guys need some expert help here now...

SO I want the 005K which is out of stock. Now I was wondering how the 090 stands? is that a K model too? Also I just saw the new 359.. it looks beautiful.. whats the story with that? is that a newer series then even the K series?? the 359 look so flawless. Does that mean quality wise its above the 005K series?

Secondly of you guys could please have a look at the strap used on the strap used on the 196 daylight luminor chrono on the this link

    http://www.yourtrustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=37_52&products_id=101

its awesome and thats the one I want on the 005 I am waiting for what are your comments on it and any suggestions aswell plz.

I suspect the strap in the link you provided is *way* less better looking in the flesh since it's a rep strap. As far as the 005, have you looked at the 318? Almost the same thing, and I think some are still in stock. About straps, I like to usually buy my rep pams with the rubber strap. They're surprisingly comfortable and the quality is usually good. Then you can start collecting quality aftermarket leather/exotic straps, and you can switch them out as you please.

  2. The ebay seller didn't take the first buyer's money, did he?

If not, I'm going to have to side with the second person who received the movement. What the ebay seller did was unethical and against ebay terms of service, but how could you know that was going to happen. Maybe the gentlemanly thing to do would be to personally offer to sell the movement to buyer #1 for the higher price you paid. If he accepts, he's happy, you're happy, and you go back to hunting. If not, at least you can both feel like you had a fair shake and the person willing to pay more ended up with the movement.

  3. There was a great thread on repgeek where puretime was posting frequent updates on the production timeline. I wish it wasn't down. Anybody hear from puretime/angus on how close they are to shipment?

  4. This is the newest 5th gen 42mm PO rep, and it is completely stock including lume.

My watch does *not* glow like that in real life. I was trying every trick I could to maximize the lume output compared to ambient light, and also I was charging the heck out of it right before the shutter tripped. Now that I have the setup worked out (you need big studio strobes or something equivalent for the nuclear charge right before the shutter trips), I think I could make any of my watches look like this. Might be kind of a fun weekend project...

Exposure details if anyone cares were 1/4 second shutter, f/5.6, iso 1600.

  5. Thank You PeteM, You always come to my rescue. I hope one day I might be a useful Member.

I got my silicone grease from a hardware store I believe. You want something thick that will lube the rotor bearings but not wander into any other parts of the watch. I have to say I've only had mixed success with that however. My 236k rotor is still really loud.

  6. Here it is getting its lume on. I wanted to see just how much I could make the dial/hands appear to glow by varying exposure and ambient light ratio. Turns out, quite a bit. No manipulation in photoshop other than some slight global contrast/saturation tweaks.

  7. It has worked fine for many weeks, but I didn't have to set the date very often as it's usually on the winder. I put it on this morning, however, and pushing in the 10:00 set button with a pin no longer works. I don't feel any resistance when pushing, and the date doesn't budge.

Anybody else experience this with an A7753 watch? I'm ready to start pulling it apart, but I was hoping it might be an easy fix.

  8. Nice. What do you plan to tell someone who asks -"Hey, what does that weird located button do, can you show me?"

If someone tries to push a button on my watch, I punch them in the face.

I guess if they were just asking, I could make up a fun story. "That button? Oh, that fires the laser. It's a James Bond watch."

  9. Pretty interesting looking, but if I was hemorrhaging wealth and looking to make a big fashion statement like that, I'd pick up an Urwerk.

As far as expensive quartz, my wife tried on a hublot white lady bang at the AD. I think the list was around $10k, and of course it's got to be quartz for the ladies :thumbsupsmileyanim:

She liked it so much we picked up the rep from Josh. Excellent rep by the way, and a nice alternative to the chanel J12.

  10. I've bought from tritec. I just filled out the order form and got it going within a day or two. The expensive part to CONUS is shipping and wire transfer fees. As I recall shipping and fees totaled around $50, and I think C1 and C3 sell for around $40 a gram. Definitely would want to double-check that yourself, however. This was a while back.

  11. The simple answer is you have to control where the light is coming from. Using ambient light can give a pleasing image, but it's very hard to place the light that way.

Here's a shot of my 5th gen omega PO shot lit with a single ring light in very close (this is a re-sized full-frame with no cropping). You can see where it is just nicking the beveled edge of the crystal but not the face. All light is from the ring flash. It would be a pitch black frame without it.
