I'm giving the Skyland a break this week:
-
Good to see you back todd.
-
I think it would look better dangling from a necklace.
-
In alaska they don't teach you to tie laces in kindergarten?
-
I just put a new polished oyster bracelet on my daydate and couldn't believe how much larger it felt (the prez bracelet just felt too small after wearing breitlings, and roos most days). I'm glad rolex started offering the oyster in the president, the combo looks very good.
With that said, I would love a larger DDII, but isn't the band size the same. I think that is the real mistake (same with the Deep Sea), they made the case larger and now the band is not well proportioned.
-
For versatility, I'd go with Number One They're all nice, but I think Number One would go with more things
+1 #1

Check the area of the keyless works with the red dot (this is the top of the movement with the dial removed). It provided tension on the winding gear, and is easy to pop out:

Hey did anyone ever think of switching to password protection or something. I mean I know the community wants to stay fresh with new members and all and I don't want to open a can of worms, but I'm just wondering if it was ever talked about for security reasons.
Yeah its brought up everytime someone brings around a story of the rep world coming trembling down at a gen lawyers feet, or with every store of bragging to an AD.
Hublot was the first manufacturer to really go all out against the rep dealers that we see here, and yet you can still buy hublot from any of them. Now even more models, and easier access to ceramic.

I picked grey, because there are not many grey options.

Great--I'll get the 2836--but I'm not sure how I can reach the clip to unfasten and remove the large day wheel inside the date wheel. (I'm going to leave the date wheel on, and just glue the SSD overlay onto it).
I thought that just lifted off, once the dial is off--any trick to removing it??
Actually--can I just leave the day wheel on--since it's covered--or will it cause problems??
Riff
If you don't know how to get the day wheel off, swapping dial/hands and possibly having to reset the keyworks might be a little daunting. (Keyworks usually don't have to be reset, but it happens maybe 1 in 10 times).
Can I ask what is the problem with your current 2836?
-
So when can we send some skylands for some adlc love?
-
I am not so sure, have they been messing with the photos colour balance?
WOW, next we'll be getting descriptions with A+++ super swiss quality with genuine dial b.s.
-
Thank you for the replies, but when i click add to cart in here http://www.nicereplica.com/pro_detail.php?ProId=77
the price is 350 insteado f 130....?!
$130 I believe is asian version with mineral crystal (At least it was originally, maybe synthetic saphire now) and no a/r coating. Still a very nice watch especially for the prices.

V2 was a totally differant maker. If there is a V2 Blacksteel in the works I would expect it sooner then later. Take steam away from the other makers skyland the same way they did before. Wait to long and you loose many sales of people that bought a v1 already.
-
I think they are all Full of [censored] - and they all hate each other so- take everything they say with a grain of salt
Exactly, and lets not forget Josh is not exactly the pillar of truth. Where is everyones dials and bracelets? Supposedly the dial wont fit, but I think carlsbadrolex can confirm thats not the case.
I think they both versions have plus and minuses which is why I'm going to pick up a V1 in the group buy for $167 to compliment the V2 I already have. But I wouldn't touch the pvd for $100 more.

Like I said before - when someone actually has seen the watch let me know. Until then, I stand by my bet - I doubt the original picture posted of the watch will accurately represent the final watch produced.
What's wrong with waiting until someone has the watch in hand before we start tearing it apart?
Ha? Wha? Are you saying you think the watch someone receives will be better then the pictures they are using to sell the watch... and the finish will be "better" then they are advertising. This is exactly what everyone said it was - a pvd v1, you can wish upon a star but your not going to receive a blacksteel v2 if you order this (not saying that there will ever be a real blacksteel rep) and the half lume dot @3 is going to be half...

Didn't the best factory use 'in house' bezels instead of the OEM bezel which lead to the price drop?
Regardless of what any dealer claimed, they were never using OEM bezels. Kyrocera could not even keep up with Hublots production.
-
Yes lets save the discussion until after the watch is released with all the flaws, so that there is 0 chance it will be fixed... or we could point it out in advanced (like the color white of the SA, the two 80s on the AS chapter ring). Maybe we have zero influance, maybe not but what is the harm in a discussion.
I wouldn't buy a PVD skyland, PVD<>BLACKSTEEL period. They do not look the same, you may have photos that look similar but the finish is not the same.
-
if this does not sell im afraid they may not make a V2...
V2 skyland is NOT version 2, its a differant maker.
In real life the blacksteel doesn't look like pvd. Also in addition to the normal skyland faults I believe the subdial rings should be dark.

I don't see a problem with this being on the gen forums, for the exact reason op stated. 99% of the people on Gen forums do not know or believe there are reps even half as close as the latest "super reps". There have been many postings across gen forums of guys that have bought reps thinking they were used gens.

Getting extremely anal the only things that jump out at me are:
Date font in a little off
Breitling font is off (also on the skyland)
and lume is a little to raised (but looks good even on macro, sure its not noticable without a loupe)
-
I love my skyland, the only problem I have is its difficult to wear when your hyper anal about the watches condition... Every little scratch I want to the buffing wheel out. I still wear it but had to polish it again last night

...Snip...
I think HK was just saying something similar in another thread. With the gens I know what I want and I get exactly that and quick and I never have any issues with them.
...Snip...
I choose to buy the gens instead, but that doesn't mean that I don't think these latest so-called Super Reps aren't a modern marvel for one second. I just need a little more than they can give me with respect to the finest details is all...
I've talked to HK about this a few times, and its the reason I added up until the last 6 months. Once the reps started hitting $500+ I dont consider them throw aways anymore and expect much more in the way of QC. The quality of watches hasn't improved, the visual representation has improved... For $600 I expect a watch that doesn't loose screws on the bezel, ect. Now $250 for a Skyland, there are very few gens will get you the same quality and even with 2 replacement movements your at > 5 years of life for about the cost of 1 service. Throw it away, sell it who cares.
I Love Watches.I hear you... so much it drives my wife crazy.
Day Date II?

Really? I knew the rg/yg oyster was gone, but thought you could still get the 73209 band as an option.
I like the pres band, and its VERY comfortable, but it also looks very small. I stopped wearing it when my wife put it on and it looked the right size on her wrist
The glacier is a whole 'nother watch... wouldn't care about the size if I had a glacier.
